I come here often for dimsum. NOt that it's all that great but mostly for the experience. Per my family, it's has that atmosphere that is close to the hong kong dim sum style where you walk up the nice long stairway to get to the very top. Have tried dinner a few times here and I would have to say that the cupertino dimsum is much better in that department.

Review for Dim Sum! The dumplings were small and not hot and steamy. The dishes were salty, I probably went through five cups of water! It's so crowded that the carts take forever to get to you. Overpriced portions. Never coming back for dim sum!

This is the Mecca of Dim Sum!! Love going here on weekends where it seems like all of Asia is here, the selection of Dim Sum and side dishes here is out of control, almost every time we go here there is something new. The food is fresh and will scold your entire mouth every time because you cant wait to pop'em into your greedy little mouth XD You can't complain about service because its an ASIAN RESTAURANT!! 99% of Asian restaurants worth going to have rude waiters. Add to the craziness of a busy day you can't expect the waiters to sit their and chop it up with you! A serious pet peeve of mine are people who complain about this issue uuuuurrrgggghhhh. SHUT UP AND EAT I SAYS! STOP ACTING LIKE THE WORLD REVOLVES AROUND YOU! Best advice when you get there, sit down, get tea, mix your soy sauce and hot sauce, assign a person to waive down the cart people and enjoy your food!

Oh god...I cant get past the parking situation at Grand Century WTFFF Dynasty is not my place of choice when it comes to dim sum but this one is huge so waiting for a table usually isnt an issue. Food is OK, nothing to write about. By the time I get through the traffic on Story on weekends, make my way into the Grand Century parking lot, and fight some Vietnamese people for a parking spot, my mind is slowly making its way towards the taqueria across the street. Maybe all this trouble isnt worth it for some sub par dim sum. Maybe that burrito mojado will be much more fulfilling...

I came here to attend my friend's wedding. We had the traditional 10 course meal. All the food came out so fast! All the food tasted great and the portions were pretty huge. Course 1 - Cold platter with roasted pork, seaweed, jellyfish Course 2 - Shark fin soup Course 3 - shrimp mixed with snap peas Course 4 - Scallops mixed with veggies Course 5 - Abalone, mushrooms, and bak choy Course 6 - fried chicken Course 7 - Lobster Course 8 - Whole Seabass Course 9 - House fried rice Course 10 - red bean dessert Overall, Dynasty is a great location to have a wedding reception. The service was very good, too.

My friend called me last minute to invite me to an event she was invited to. Hey free food, I'm down. Omg but it was like a wedding banquet. First course was an array of cold meats, which was ok. This was followed by vegetables (bok choy with shiitake mushrooms), seafood in a basket made out of fried noodles, seabass (that looks like salmon but was surprisingly very tender), lobster, seafood fried rice (pieces of seafood were on the small size here), an assortment of cookies, and red bean soup for dessert. Mmm...my stomach is growling just thinking about this meal. ' The restrooms here are gross. Generally not what you expect of big Chinese banquet restaurants.

I don't understand how a huge restaurant like this can have only 3-4 servers on the floor on a busy day. The staff has no accommodations for their guest. Rude servers, they ignore you, pretend they can't see you & when you flag them down to ask for something finally they say "okay okay" and never come back! My guest and I ordered a side of shrimp balls to start, waited forever for someone to attend to us to see if we could order more food, 20 minutes in with no service no food & an EMPTY TABLE.. I straight up said screw this got up and left! PEOPLE WHO GO OUT & EAT ALOT, DON'T JUST GO FOOD THEY GO FOR SERVICE! step your game up Dynasty! This ain't Chinatown no more. *that didn't make sense* lol but a restaurant with no service doesn't either

Went here to let the lights dim sum with the girls for Saturday brunch -- jk, it was actually not dim at all, it was nice, light, airy, & bright. I enjoyed the atmosphere here. Also very family friendly, which is always nice. Food: was good, no complaints :) And you gotta get the chrysanthemum tea --- mmmm.

If you're looking for longevity buns, this is the place to order them from! Made to order mini size buns for $1/each. They just need 24-hrs. advance notice! I hope my grandma will like them! Parking sucks here!

I had my wedding here. The place is pretty run down, good thing we had a good designer. Food is always pretty decent which can always put an upside on a visit. The cleaners were pretty ghetto which tried to steal our cake topper, but it magically reappeared when my bride asked for the manager. Parking in this plaza sucks so if you also plan on attending a wedding here, try to have an extra 30mins to look for a spot. The dim-sum is also pretty decent.

I used to come here a lot when there ain't that many options for Dim Sum in San Jose area. However the quality has dropped drastically over the years, there are also much better dim sum place in the area now. We still came here last weekend since they can seat our 20 people large group rather quickly. Hence the beginning of horrible lunch. The dim sum was disgusting, I felt thirsty and my tongue was numb, which INDICATES HEAVY USAGE OF MSG. The waiter accidentally dumped a bottle of beer on my friend. HE SIMPLY PANICKED AND DASHED AWAY. HE DIDN'T EVEN RETURN WITH NAPKINS. We complained to the management and they brought an extra bottle of beer. We also had them hide our birthday cake, but they kept trying to bring it out. They also forgot our order a few times. Eventually we asked them to bring the cake out and they just PUT THE BOX ON OUR TABLE AND WALKED AWAY!! While we were eating the cake, the staff started preparing the main hall for a wedding. The manager stared at us as if they want us to leave ASAP. All the staff were busy preparing for the wedding, WE HAD TO CLEAN THE TABLE OURSELVES to make space for the cake. We've never had such a horrible experience. And the bill came out to be $35 per person. That's the most I've ever paid for crappy dim sum with of MSG and utterly uncomfortable customer service. I will never come back ever again.

Most people come here for their dim sum or attending a wedding. I have to say I am sick and tired of eating at this place. I think the dim sum is mediocre and the price is pricier than other places. I would come here when I am in the area, but I would not go out of my way to come here.

Came here at 130 pm form some dim sum. There were only two carts going around. Had to ask twice for water, three times for forks. It wasn't crowded, but the service was so slow. Food was ok.

I usually eat dim sum here, always around midmorning to midafternoon. This place is pretty much a go to place for dim sum because it's right there, and hey, the dim sum is pretty good. I went here for Mother's Day with the extended family. It was packed, but the wait wasn't that long. The employees are very efficient, constantly coming by our table to offer a variety of dim sum, as well as ask if we needed anything else. The employees pushing carts offer what is on their carts and the employees walking around take orders and serve drinks. Everything served was steaming hot and fresh. Probably because it was so busy that day, though. I don't remember ALL of the dim sum being that hot the other times I went, haha. The place is overall quite clean and aesthetically pleasing. I really like the large windows that take up the entire wall, though the scenery below ain't that sexy. Unless you like to watch Asian drivers fight for close parking spaces.

Yum. I came here with a group of 10 and we got one of the banquet courses. It was so much food! We definitely left with plenty of leftovers. The food was very nice, especially the fish and seafood, and the service was nice and attentive. I'd definitely come again.

Came here a few times for a dim sum fix since it's nearby, and I could actually say that it could be a hit or miss depending on what time you come. I suggest coming here @ 11am - 12pm on weekdays, 11am on weekdays due to the amount of people coming in groups, and there'll be a wait for tables. I believe that the shirmp balls & taro balls that they have given us was on the cart for awhile, so we tried the other dishes which turned out to be better than most and hot too. The service was good today, and had given us water and jasmine tea :] Had my wedding reception here before, and its a bit pricey, but they do tell you how much is for food and how many tables you want and give the price ahead of time. Overall, I would come here for a dim sum fix depending on the mood :]

This place is really popular for Asian weddings and for dim sum. I haven't gone to a wedding here yet, but I've been here for dim sum as well as a regular dinner... and its just not anything to write about. The dim sum is average and their selection is okay. I appreciate that they're not super pushy trying to make you order something from every cart. I do have an issue with the flavors of a lot of their dim sum--a lot of the meat dishes taste very grainy. The portions are pretty good though, so I can't complain too much I guess. We recently went here for dinner, forgetting that dim sum is lunch only. I kinda just wanted to take off, but felt a little guilty (I had started munching on the salted peanuts that they put on each table) so we just stayed. We ordered a soup noodle dish with duck, some fried rice, and honey walnut prawns. While everything tasted okay, I know I can get each of those dishes for less money elsewhere. (*sob* why did you have to close down Wok City Diner?!?*sob*) The service was okay but typical of an Asian restaurant--they pretty much just leave you alone. Again, its really not bad, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here.

Review for Dim Sum: My family and I had dim sum this morning. It was around noon on Sunday and we were seated at a 4 top right away. We got the usual, ha cao, sui mai, rice noodle, tofu wrapped shrimp, congee, the works. Everything was great. My mom couldn't stop raving. She def enjoyed it. Total for 4 people came out to $58. Not too bad and we were full. Good place to grab a family brunch.

Came here once for Dim Sum and never again. The food was just alright. Nothing that would make my mouth water. I'm sitting there waiting for a cart with food that I would eat to come by my table and the lady pushing the cart with shrimp dumplings (the main dish I've been waiting for) just pushed the cart pass me really quickly and I had to stand up and told her to come back. This lady gonna try and act like she didn't see me. She was very rude so I was rude right back to her. I'm paying for the food I'm eating. I didn't understand why she was rude to me in the first place and why she didn't wanna serve me. I will NOT come back here. Anyone wanna disrespect me for no reason, they best believe that I will YELP ABOUT IT. I will NOT SUGARCOAT anything. Hoping the manager/store owner will read it. This place is NOT worth the trouble looking for parking.

We came here for a huge wedding reception and LOVED the food. The interior is quite fancy adorned by lovely chandeliers. We had about 8 different courses of seafood entrees varying from: scallops, lobster, fried shrimp ball, huge abalone, shark fin soup, peking duck, and so much more. Everything was so surprisingly FRESH. I've been to a lot of restaurants for a wedding reception where the food only looked good. But their entrees looked and tasted fabulous. Big huge portions of everything, not too salty, and well seasoned. My only complaint would be their emergency protocols. But hey what can you expect from an Asian restaurant right? There was a guest who was completely blacked out from alcohol and all the staff did was stand/watch. Other than that, it was a fabulous night at this super scrumptious restaurant. I believe they have a top floor as well. 4 STARS!

I attended a wedding here the end of June 2012, and let me say this place looked beautiful!!! It was a lovely room & good sound for music. The food was very good, I think the best wedding food I have had to date. Very large wedding, maybe 250 guests? I would give this place 4 stars for their quality service and lovely room. I will always remember this wedding, it was awesome!

I've been to a gazillion weddings in my lifetime, sadly none of which is my own. But of all the weddings i've been to, none of the food can compare to that of Dynasty! Dynasty deserves 5 stars and they are in a league of their own! While the other 5 stars restaurants earned their stars for supreme customer service, decor, and delectable, innovative crusines, i give Dynasty 5 stars for the wholesome, delicious, generous and mouth watering fares they serve up! And the customer service isn't bad either, you just gotta tell the waiters what you need, when you need it! Their dim sum and regular menu is great ( i personally prefer the dim sum at Sino's) but their wedding menu is out of this world! -Suckling Pig Combination Platter- lovely! -Deep Fried Stuffed Crab Claws- Heaven on earth! -Sauteed Scallops & Beef w/ veggies- tender scallops! -Shark Fin Soup- soothing goodness! -Stir-Fried Lobster-Makes my eyes hungry! -Peking Duck-succently duck meat and soft buns... -Abalone, mushroom & veggie- i can do without this -Smoked Sea Bass- smokey buttery melt in yout mouth...YUMM! -Seafood Fried Rice- good! After a feast here, i feel like i just died and went to food heaven! Oh and the bottomless alchohol at these weddings makes it a night to remember...or forget in some cases!

i come here for dim sum when i'm craving for some .. its pretty good. has a lot of varieties to choose from. sometimes it doesn't taste as good as other times but when is anything ever consistent? come when they first open up because thats when things are fresh and piping hot. and we all know, things taste the best when it is hot, not room temperature. the servers are bleh. they don't smile and look like they want to kill themselves but thats most asian places. don't come here if you're trying to get stellar customer service.

Been here at least several times a year for family gatherings. I think they serve dim sum (a la carte) during lunch and menu only for dinner. Their food are nothing to write home about, despite their attempt at great customer service with their waiters/waitresses in tuxedos and nicely decorated room and tables. Their best dish is probably the greasy duck skin with sweet white buns. Eat them together like a sandwich - HEAVENLY. No, silly, of course they barely give you any of the actual duck meat! Restaurants never give you the good part of a duck. The duck skin was crunchy and packed with flavor, but I would appreciate some protein too. Their worse dish is probably the sea cucumbers plus bok choy plus some other unidentifiable creature that I thought was mushroom. Not only did the sea cucumbers looked completely appetizing with their black horns and spines, but their gray flesh were gooey and tasteless. I felt cheated when I took a bite. My other adventurous cousins who took a bite from it agreed that it was tasteless and gooey. Before you hate on me, know that this dish came with whatever dinner package that my relatives ordered. I also eat canned sea cucumbers all the time with porridge. I Googled pictures of sea cucumbers on my phone and that did it - I can't stomach it anymore. I never come here by choice. I think Dynasty only makes money from their wedding-ready ballroom, stage, stereos, tables, chairs, size, and uniformed employees.

5,4,3,2,1 ... Happy New Years! With the new year celebration out of the way, it seems that all members of my family were truly affected by too much of a "party hardy" night leaving us starved for some delicious food to start the new year. The wait was not too long, about 15 minutes which wasn't too bad since we just walked across to the mall side to kill time. We were seated immediately and the carts came a rollin', for some reason the carts didn't have a frequent stop by my part of the restaurant which was tiresome when trying to wave down some good ole' shu mai and steamed broccolini with oyster sauce. After many steam baskets and plates we finally finished with a grand total of approximately 40 bucks for 4 people, what a deal! We handed over the $50 gift certificate and the difference was returned in cash, how great! My family left satisfied and jolly, what a great start for a new year.

I made an account just to give my two cents on this place. Came for dim sum because we usually have wedding dinners here and thought ... why not? we're hungry. Dim sum = sucks. Service = terrible. Waiters are constantly ignoring you. You literally have to get off your chair and go after them to place an order. The place was not even packed. Had to wait 15 minutes just for one serving. That's ridiculous. I'm hungry, on top of that, you're making me starve. Food = Is 'OKAY'. I'll admit the siu mai was fresh because i had to wait forever for that one, but the congee was a bit cold. They dropped off a rejected ha gao, which was also just 'okay'. There's no variety. We only saw 2 carts going around. BOO! I ate 3 things in 45 minutes, asked for the check. And left. Never again. Ill stay with my San Francisco and Milbrae dimsum.

Food here is so so but if you want more dim sum choices other than the norm this is the only one in the neighborhood to get special dishes off the menu like beef guts (but I think you can get this at the chinese BBQ place too), stir fried dishes etc... Be warned that you will pay a premium for these choices. I'm giving this place 2 stars mainly because it's so expensive for a dim sum place. Expect to pay around $20 for 2 people with a few simple orders. I paid $50 for about 8 items off the cart on my last visit with 3 other co-workers. ridiculous for lunch. There are other choices like King Egg Roll across the street that will make the same items and will taste just as good for a fraction of the price.

Food poison central. Came here for a wedding reception on 1/4/14, left with food poisoning. Me and 14 others. It looked like the love child of coffee sludge and jellyfish came out of me. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

Come here lots of time for their Dim Sum in the weekend and it's always packed. Very decent food. I like the porridge with pork and duck egg. We get mostly seafood dishes because the hubby does not like pork. However, I like the taro covered minced pork dish with the flaky shell. Food is always hot which is more than I can say for the other dim sum places I've gone to. Just come early cuz sometimes there's a line despite the fact that the restaurant is huge. However for those with heartburn - I have to give u a warning because like most Chinese food, it's oily. I don't usually get heartburn but I had some most of the time after eating here. But it's worth it.

I attended a wedding here in mid-Sept, food was pretty awesome! What stood out was the wide open space to accommodate 330 guests. It's very spacious on the 2nd floor; enough room in the back for a photo booth as well. I have came here for dim sum before and normally it is very ugly and looks kinda run down, but the wedding was beautiful (it probably had to do with the white drapes and chair covers, definitely made a difference). My review is, of course, primarily for the food, my favorite dish was the sea bass, it was so good it melts in your mouth! Everyone at the table loved it! The lobster and crab claws was great as well! I also wanna rave that the food came out above warm to hot, which is a good thing. I was also surprised they were still serving shark fin soup, loved it! I had a great time and the waiters were very attentive. I was one of the earliest guests there and they served me a drink and asked how I was doing or if I needed anything.

My mom is always looking out for dinner deals when she's out (because she knows we're all fatties in our family), so one night she brought us to Dynasty for dinner. We got the 6-person meal deal/package/whatever it's called, despite having only 3 people in our family. Don't judge us. The meal for 6 people is a pretty decent deal. For ~$68, you're served your choice of soup, 4 entree dishes, and a lobster dish. If the food was mind-blowing, this place would've been a gem. Sadly, the food was mediocre. My mom and sister both thought the soup was pretty bland (I thought it tasted fine, but I was a little under the weather), and the entrees were quite lackluster. We got the clams sauteed with basil, salt and pepper squid, seafood bird's nest, and some greens and beef stir-fry dish. The dishes all had their problems, ranging from too salty (or too much MSG lol) to too bland. Nothing left much of an impression--the seafood bird's nest was the best out of the dishes, but even that wasn't that great. Service was definitely nice and attentive and was helpful in suggesting dishes when you're unsure about what to get. A lot of the servers seem to know Vietnamese (in addition to Chinese), so that was definitely helpful for us. Dynasty definitely has some good dinner deals, but if you're looking for some kickass Chinese food, this is not the place you're seeking.

Just very ok. Definitely one of the most popular dim sum/wedding reception places in San Jose. I wouldn't except exceptional food or service here though. Like I said, it's just very ok. The food was ok, the service is less than ok. I just came here this past Sunday and they didn't have a great selection of food like other places.. We actually had to ask the waiters for certain dim sums that we didn't see and they brought it out for us.. (weird?) Been here several, several, several times for dim sum, weddings, or dinner and all I can say is that I've definitely had better.

I went here for a family dinner one night and was actually shocked about how expensive it was, but maybe that's because we ordered lobster. My dad picked out a 17 pound lobster and had it stir fried or something. All I know is that it came back all hot and garlicy. It was a huge portion, more than enough for six people. I remember it being good, but not great. I didn't think the lobster was seasoned enough, but it was also way too salty if you can imagine both. Since we did order a pretty fancy meal, they treated us like kings there. They were replacing our plates with a swiftness and even gave us free dessert. Well I think they should since the whole meal came out to be over $400!! Insane price for a lobster, but I guess that it normal. The yellow rolls were so soft and sweet! So good!

This is a wonderful place to have a family meal. If you're looking to make reservations for a large group, I recommend you make your reservation before 12 because that's when it starts to get busy. Waiters come around with carts that have an assortment of Asian dishes that you can look out before you order. They are very friendly and are more than happy to give you more than one dish! Every dish is hot and never cold or sour. It's a great place for the family and it's a whole lot of fun.

So I have been going here for about 7 years, been to many wedding events and other occasions. Food was great back then, so was the service. The wife and I decided to go tonight since it was our anniversary hoping to have some smoked sea bass before we move to Denver. I was just reading some recent posts on Yelp and couldn't believe people would give bad ratings. So I completely ignored the warnings and continued to drive there. So we are seated, we already know what we want, and get to order and later we find out we just missed out on the smoked sea bass, three other tables got some and we lost out apparently. Ok that's fare, we didn't get there in time among the 5 other tables to get a piece of fish. It wasn't even a busy night. At that moment, I was just about to tell the wife let's go to 99 Ranch and go make dinner at home. Nope we still stayed there giving it another chance. I ordered the Peking Duck, and the pan fried sea bass with a side of stir fried pea-vine. The duck came out fairly fast and it was good, the sea bass, damn for 22 bucks and three little pieces of fish, they said it was sea bass...bullshit, talapia tasted better than that. It was hard or over cooked and too salty. The pea-vine wasn't too bad, business as usual. But how do you mess up sea bass?! The waitress was good on service, quite frankly I feel bad for because she really tried to make us happy. I did discuss the quality to her in a sincere way, and she said she talked to the owner. The owner never came out or have the decency to talk to us and told our waitress to just give us a cookie. I was already insulted by the crap they called fish, at least try to make it look presentable? But if the manager ever reads the yelp reviews, which they should, because I am adding another bad review to the list in hopes that no one else makes another mistake like us. And this was just dinner folks imagine if this was for your wedding. Sorry, not going back again, and you can take that cookie and shove it up your ass!

I was actually angry. $18 for an Americanized beef dish. I distinctly asked if it was Americanized or authentic and the lady said "authentic" The beef was old and obviously on its way out and the sauce lacked flavor. I asked them to make it extra spicy and it had reasonable heat, but not much flavor; just soy and semi-spoiled beef. Then I find out that small little portion of rice they gave me is $1.50. A rinky-dink portion of rice for $1.50? Unbelievable. I asked her if that was correct and she sternly said "of course!" That's fine, I'll just deduct it from your tip, then. This place sucks and has no redeeming qualities.

The dim sum selection was plentiful and tasty. My gripe was their hot dishes turning out refrigerator cold. However, the service was nice enough that they agreed to reheat our dishes after we already ordered the dim sum. Their dim sum rice of any kind (pork or the leaf-wrapped ones) are the best. The one thing I don't get though is how confused they were each time we asked for hoisin sauce. They usually bring out 2-3 different sauces before they finally understood what we were asking for...and it seems to be a different word every time. The environment is spacious and convenient enough for a wedding dinner or reception. I only come because I love Grand Century and their dim sum rice plates that hit the spot.

I've been here for dim sum before, and overall not impressed, because I really can't recall having a good dining experience here. My most recent visit here was for a wedding on the first floor, there was another wedding at the same time upstairs. Typical asian weddings, served with 5+ course meals. I just remember the shrimp balls, the scallops, peking duck, soup, dessert bowl. The food was good, nothing too special but nothing too horrific either. The service was not so great. There was a baby at our table, and the server took no notice and served hot plates right next to the baby when clearly they could have walked one or two more steps over and served the hot plates away from the baby. There was a photobooth at this wedding, and my date and a couple folks at my table went to take pictures. When we came back, our eating plates were cleared. We still had food on the plates, and were deeply sadden that we didn't get to eat the food before it got taken away. The plates were served as fast as they were taken away! I love asian food, but I'm overall completely disappointed that I didn't get to savor the food. The only thing this place got going for them is that the restroom is clean (at least in this particular room on the 1st floor).

DIM-SUM, DIM-SUM, DIM-SUM What is dim sum? Well, it's a Chinese cuisine. You go to a dim sum place, they will serve you a variety of small dishes which contains either meat, seafood, or vegetables, as well as deserts. Items are usually on a small plate or in these baskets with steam. I used to come here with my aunt and grandparents almost every Sunday and it was hard to get a table and sit down. They were always busy. Dynasty in San Jose is very huge, they have two floors. Dynasty also caters many weddings. My cousin actually got married a long time ago here at Dynasty. Although this is a place I would never get married because the customer service is very bad and Dynasty is not the place I had in mind of where I wanted to get ''married''. One thing you have to be careful for is the long marble stairway. Before we knew about the elevator, my grandparents would have to walk up those stairs and by the time we got up there, they were tired! I even almost fell, so be careful when you walk up those stairs. How is dim sum served? People with carts, every cart containing different dishes, walk around and ask you if you want this or that.... If you don't want anything on their cart, they walk off....unhappy. If you DO want something off their cart, they try and smile and then give you a stamp on your bill. Like in many of my other reviews, I focus a lot on customer service, and I am very disappointed. They are very loud and like I said, if you don't order, they will walk away not liking you! Here are my pros and cons: Pros+: 1. Big Place 2. Food is good, not great. Cons-: 1. Horrible customer service 2. Expensive 3. Portions of food are small 4. Gotta be careful of those stairways! 5. Depending what day you do on, could be a long wait time. Overall, if you are desperate enough to eat at a place with horrible customer service, expensive food that isn't that great, and long waiting time, feel free to stop by Dynasty here in San Jose.... I don't recommend anyone to go here, there are better Dim Sum places around San Jose and in Milpitas that are a lot better.

Came here for an annual banquet held by one of our student groups. The venue was decent space wise, the food was definitely edible. We were in one of the larger banquet rooms - I think there were around 200 seats. As for being tastefully decorated, the neon designs on the walls were kind of a turn off for me (especially after seeing the beauty that is the Dynasty in Cupertino). Also, it's a restaurant, so very poor ventilation in case for some reason there is a dance floor and music. Or you need to get up and go to the bathroom. Sure, friday night was rather hot and humid, but the weather was nothing compared to your typical summer night in San Jose, so those of you who sweat, be ware. The meal: 1. Crab and Fish Maw Soup - good, real chunks of real crab, and no "peas" included. 2. Chinese Cold cut appetizer selection - decent. The jellyfish was fresh and tasty. The beef good. They included a japanese seaweed salad which was an interesting deviation from the traditional platter. The Cha Sao Pork was okay, but slightly fishy. 3. Walnut Prawns - walnuts done well. Crispy and sweet. - Prawns were not overly drowned in mayo, which was a plus. 4. Beef with celery (can't remember the actual name) - Beef was tender, but I can't say I would order this dish by myself. 5. Peking spareribs - I love my peking spareribs. This selection was more on the fatty rib side (boo) but there were a few good pieces in there. - sauce and flavor was good. Not spectacular but decent. 6. Fried chicken - I was pretty full by this time, (I had also spent most of the week consuming an entire Costco rotisserie chicken so wasn't too excited about having more bird) but this was a favorite at my table. The skin was crispy, and not deep fried. It actually looked like peking duck, and had a similar consistency when you bit down into it. 7. Fish Fillets - apparently another crowd favorite. Deep fried some type of white fish (basa/catfish, most likely, but could have possibly been cod?) - The flavor was of a salt and pepper variety, and the fillets were breaded. - I was not impressed because I like the traditional steamed/braised fish over deep fried at chinese places, but I think the fried worked out much better with the crowd, who were not all chinese and/or fish adventurous. 8. Vegetable with mushroom (mock abalone mushroom) The baby bok choy was good (not the green stem ones, but rather the white stem ones). They were very tender and the sauce was not too salty. 9. Yang Chow Fried Rice I was really full by this time. This is my favorite type of fried rice, mainly because it usually includes some kind of green vegetable. Their version was more like combination fried rice, no green vegetables. I was glad for the full sized shrimp, but not very impressed given it was not (IMO) "yang chow" enough. 10. "Dim sum delight" Can we say almond and sesame cookies? Sigh. Kind of cheap, Dynasty. But again, probably more pleasing to the mixed crowd considering they were probably really stuffed by then and also may have freaked at the sight of red bean or soft tofu soup, etc.

We came here with a large party to celebrate a baby shower. There was over 20 of us and the wait staff was very accommodating. We ended up having more guests than expected and they set up another round table for us quickly. We were set up in a small private room in the front so it was hard for the dim sum carts to come through but food still came to us nonetheless. Since there were a lot of us and most of the guests were of non-Asian decent, they started placing random items on out table without asking. We basically had to say no if we didn't want something placed on our table. Dim sum quality is solid. Notable mentions were the Sui mai, BBQ pork buns, and crispy shrimp balls, and shrimp pancake noodle. We also ordered there BBQ pork and duck which wasn't very good. The meat on the bbq pork was hard and flavorless. The duck didn't have a lot of meat on it and wasn't particularly fresh either.

Was here for a charity event and the food was darn good! Everything on menu was good except the bland fried rice. The service wasn't so good. It looked like the waitress and manager working here never smile and seems like they hate their job. Well at least the food was pretty good!

The fried rice is very expensive! An order of shrimp fried rice will cost you $16 while their main special, the yin yang fried rice is only $13. What is the problem with this pricing?

I've been here for Dim Sum.. was quite pleased. The company.. not so much. My friends were trying to explain to me how love didn't exist. BUT YET - this did not effect my decision of giving it 4 stars : ) My bff had her graduation dinner here. It was really good ! I enjoyed it thoroughly. There was a wedding on the other side. Place was popping w/ girls w/ heavy make up. HEYYY if you're into that. Just swing by on Saturdays, and you'll meet some hotties. Always a wedding going on here.

Delicious meal for our wedding banquet! I especially loved the pig skin for the appetizer and the Peking duck wrapped in the banh bao. Lots of compliments for the smoked sea bass. The service is excellent and friendly, especially James, our banquet manager.

Dynasty is on the 2nd level. you must climb a spiral stairway to get there.(or take the elevator). the dining room is breathtaking: very high ceilings and low hanging candeliers. an ideal location for a wedding or that special banquet occasion. dim sum pricing: (s)2.70 (m)3.20 (l)4.00, tea charge (1.20) sampling: -siu mai (4) :chewy, bland -spareibs in black bean sauce : chewy, tasteless pork -chicken claws: tender, sweet tasting, otherwise bland -shrimp crepe: crunchy, tasteless shrimp in fall about limpy skin. leftovers: -2 cart ladies, 2 ladies with specialy items. -english, cantonese, vietnamese speakers here -post lunch dim sum didn't taste fresh. -service adequate. few diners after lunch. -dim sum pricey for lacklaster fare.

Went to my sister wedding here on Sat, Jan 4, 2014. Had the worst experience here 50+ guest reported to all have FOOD POISONING. In the beginning, I thought it was the ramen place I ate the next day. Got mad because I had order a ramen to go, but threw it away thinking it was the ramen. That was a waste. However, we got other report from friend and family members as well. For my side, first it was my wife, then me, then my daughter(8 years old) and my son(2 years old). I had another daughter(5 years old) didn't get affect, because she didn't eat, good time to be a picky eater . For those that experience the symptoms of FOOD POISONING, it's a long and horrible experience. My son suffer the the worst, he was suffering for 5 days (vomitting and constant diarrhea and lost so much weight. Can't do much with FOOD POISONING, just had to wait until it passes through our body. This is a warning, this food restaurant establishment did not have any remorse, and blame it on other things that we ate throughout the days and the alcohol. They said that they were going to reimburse my sister for the incidents (10 tables) but they retract the offer. They wanted proof and doctor note. WHO IN THE HELL WILL KEEP THEIR VOMITT AND THEIR BM SERIOUSLY. FOOD POISONING is something you ride out. They would be reimbursing more if everybody went to the ER. If you care about the well being of your families and friends, DO NOT EAT AT THIS PLACE.

I was just here for a banquet where we had 80 tables. Granted that is a lot of tables, but it took SOOOO long for the food to come out, it was more like eating 10 small appetizers rather than 1 large meal. The food was good, but it just seemed out of sorts. Even the non-asian people were asking if there was going to be rice served with the meal...and there was rice served...as one of the last three courses! As one of the hosts of the party, I asked one of the waiters for additional chopsticks on a certain table, and he handed them to ME to serve them. Maybe i expected a better impression (esp in this economy) for a banquet with 800 people, but it also seemed like the service was slow and the waiters were pretty indifferent. Yes, i know this is a chinese restaurant and that's almost the expected culture in these places, but when you expect below average service and you get even less than you expect, that's not acceptable. I am beginning to wonder when my string of bad luck with these eating places is going to end... Happy Holidays!

i've been here few times, they had really YUMMY food, very friendly customer service here! My friend also had a banquet here and told me that the manager James was the way to go, he helps you like no other! superb!

This place recycles food to other customers. Saw it with my own eyes. If you don't finish the complimentary peanuts and dessert cookies, guess what? Those get served to the next customer. God knows how many greasy fingers fondled the peanuts and if you get one of those who sneezes or coughs without covering their mouths...yes you are also getting complimentary germs!!! And by the way...If you come during Dim Sum and they ask you what kind of tea you want, and you give them an answer besides no, you will get a nice surprise on the bill....they charge $1.50/per person for tea. Tea is NOT complimentary! And it doesn't matter if you drink tea or not. They will do a head count and charge everyone! What a cheap establishment!

It's usually a hit or miss when we come here. Sometimes, the food is cold or not well-prepared. Other times, the food is hot, delicious, and fresh! The restaurant is actually two floors. The main restaurant is upstairs, but they also have control of the largest room downstairs, which is where they hold smaller wedding receptions. I've eaten here a lot, because I have a few friends who had wedding receptions here and I used to work nearby. Dim Sum: Average dim sum - nothing to write home about. Like I said, the food is hit or miss. They have all the classic dim sum fare, pork and shrimp dumplings in eggy (excuse the assumption made solely for the pretty yellow color of the wrapper) flour wrappers (xiu mai), rice flour shrimp dumplings (ha kao), steamed rice flour crepes (banh cuon), etc... My favorites are the spare ribs, deep fried dumplings with ground pork, and xiu mai. The chicken feet are pretty good, too -- but like everything else, nothing to write home about. Dinner Menu: Average fare -- not bad, but not amazing. Wedding Banquet Menu: Typical Chinese 9-course meal. Dynasty provides better quality food than other restaurants with this 9-course feast. The "shark fin" soup is tastier and has more flavor. The roast duck's skin was not as crisp. The lobster was delicious, but the fried rice was quite dry. Service: Unshockingly typically minimal. It is hard to flag down a server, but after you do, service is somewhat prompt, unless you have to wait for your chicken feet or other dish to finish cooking. Tea is promptly refilled upon request. Don't expect to get checked on, but everything is available to you upon request! Tip: Upstairs is a great wedding reception venue that, if decorated beautifully, will be gorgeous.

This place is crowded all the time and my friends recommended going here. I thought the food was very good and lots of selection. I heard the war is between Mayflower and Dynasty for dim sum. I think Mayflower is a little bit better than Dynasty, but I would come here again and have dinner. The selection was good, the quality was okay, but it is on the pricey side. Unfortunately, the donuts did not have the custard. The carts were very nice as well. There were a lot of shrimp dishes which was nice as well.

I came here for a Chinese New Year dinner last Saturday with my family. We should have known better than to try and visit a restaurant located in "Asian Plaza" on a weekend evening in the middle of the Lunar New Year. The plaza was ridiculously packed. Cars kept on milling about but no one was leaving so there were no spots available. We passed by a bunch of tables set up on the sidewalks where people were gambling. One section of the plaza was coned off for firecrackers. Needless to say, there was a huge commotion and massive amounts of people everywhere. We actually had reservations, which was a good thing because there seemed to be a special event going on that evening. Apparently there was a special Vietnamese New Year Banquet event which cost $100 per ticket. A blocked off section of the restaurant was decorated as if for a wedding banquet, but I suppose a new year's celebration is similar. They had live entertainment including various singers and live musicians. Even though the special section was walled off, we could DEFINITELY hear the singing. It made dinner conversation pretty difficult. As for the food and service, I would say they were pretty good given the hubbub going on around us. We had a seafood eggdrop soup that was pretty tasty as well as a coldcut platter. I also enjoyed the peashoots covered in assorted mushrooms. There were two noodle dishes, one that was like chowmein and another of e-mien. Neither were terribly good, but at least they were offensive. There was also a fish that was pretty tasty, if a bit bony. I think they threw in a free peking duck with all the fixings. That was pretty good. The one dish that threw me off was the crab. It smelled like cookies. Probably because it had been dipped in some kind of batter mainly consisting of egg yolks, then deep fried. The crab itself was good, but the batter was disgustingly greasy and tasteless. I wouldn't order that again.

It is almost right down the street where I work and this place temporarily quenches my craving for dim sum. The trick is to come between 12 and 1230 when they have all the fresh stuff come out.. if you come at 1130 there isn't a lot..if you come around 130 ish you are pretty much SOL because they start shutting their dim sum down Overall-- I got my shrimp ball and pork buns and shu mai.. we got 5 dishes for around 19 bucks..

The waiters are THIEVES. Yes, literally thieves. I don't often write reviews but I feel guilty not to do this one. The place is big and looks nice, the food is okay, the service is terrible, the price is expensive, worst of all, the waiter(s) or at least one of them are STEALING stuff from their customers. We came here for a wedding dinner and got shocked by witnessing one of the waiters stealing a camera from a customer. He actually got caught right on the scene while hiding the camera inside his jacket. We called his manager over; he didn't seem to take that seriously but also tried to cover him. That's is just one of the stories. I was told that many people came here to eat and ended up losing their phones, digital cameras and other valuable stuff. The owner/managers didn't seem to care when we people reported. If it happens that you need to go here, maybe for your friend's party, be extra careful. Do not leave anything valuable on the table or chair. Until there is change, this place is strongly NOT recommended.

The best Dim Sum I've had in Nor Cal. It's pretty damn expensive though. Maybe I'm spoiled because Dim Sum in Socal is cheaper and better. What do I usually get? The staples: Har Gow, Siu Mai, Chee Cheong Fun. Chee Cheong Fun is those white noodle rolls with meat or shrimp inside that's on a plate where they drown it with what looks like soy sauce and you're thinking "noooo it's gonna be too salty if you put that much soy sauce" and then you eat it and it's not actually soy sauce, it just looks like soy sauce. I still don't know what the hell that sauce is, but goddamn that dish is good. Anywho, I learned the Chinese name for it a while ago so I thought I'd share with you. Though I still order it by pointing at it and going BEEF? YEA! ONE! Chicken feet. Gotta get the chicken feet. My favorite part is separating all of the meat from the bones in my mouth and spitting out all the bones afterwards. You don't know how good it feels until you do it. Most of the Dim Sum I've gotten here other than those items is from what other people like. Dim Sum is kind of a weird thing to go eat with people because everyone has certain dishes that they like. I've tried a lot of them and I'll think it's just okay and that I wouldn't order it for myself. So yea, because I'm not a huge fan of porridge, egg tarts, taro cakes, sticky rice, or banh baos, I'm not gonna tell you whether they're good or not. They were good to me, but I don't usually order them so I'm no expert. Don't come here after 1:30 for Dim Sum. All the carts start emptying and then you'll wait forever because you just want some Har Gow and the same lady will keep walking past you offering you stuffed mushrooms and you'll think to yourself DAMNIT I JUST WANT SOME HAR GOW AND I KNOW IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT BUT STOP OFFERING ME STUFFED MUSHROOMS BECAUSE WHO THE HELL EATS STUFFED MUSHROOMS AT A DIM SUM PLACE ANYWAYS?! Towards the end of the Dim Sum shift you can also just tell the big bosses walking around what you want and they'll get it from the kitchen for you. It comes out piping hot too. I've also gotten non-Dim Sum dinner here. They have a nice family dinner type thing. Tons of variety for a little under $100. Really good if you're eating with a party of around 8. This is the closest decent Dim Sum restaurant near me so I'll be back and I'll try not to come too late for lunch, but I always end up here towards the end of lunch no matter how hard I try :(

I'm surprised I haven't written a review here! My family and I have been going here whenever we feel like Dim Sum for years! Recently their selections seemed to be smaller... I don't see the Taro dumpling that I used to order. I love chrysanthemum tea! I try not to go here when they first open because I always end up waiting around for more carts & I don't go here when they're about to close because they hardly have anything left! I think a good time to go is around 11:45AM-12:30PM, it's busy but that's a good thing because there will be a lot of carts! Most of the food we've tried have been good so don't be afraid! If you're in doubt, always go with the basic shu mai & har gow (:

I went here for a wedding, so I guess I cannot say I got the full dining experience, but judging from food only, it sucked. Why such the harsh words? Well how do I count the ways: 1) Food was way undercooked. I'm not particularly picky about undercooked meat. I like my steaks raw sometimes, but this place was a bit ridiculous. The fish wasn't raw, it was warm and not fresh. Gross. 2) Nasty scallops. There was a scallop entree with snow peas. It tasted rotten. 3) Bland food. I know different places have different styles, but I guess this place was not for me. Even the fresh entrees just did not fit my taste pallet. 4) They didn't even get fried rice done right. Awww, c'mon! The people were nice, too bad the food just sucked that bad.

This place is OK for dim sum. I've also been here plenty of times for wedding diners and no occasion dinners - all pretty mediocre. Maybe because my mom cooks Chinese food so well that nothing ever compares to hers. This location can get busy and parking can be a hassle. Nice venue, though.

On a particular Sunday morning, if I'm not vegging out in bed, you may find ya' boy at some Sunday brunch spot. If I'm not there, then I'm waving down the cart ladies for some DIM SUM. Ahhh, the sweet serenade of steamed pork dumplings and oozing rice porridge, it just brings me back to those childhood days when the parents were too lazy to cook and picked up a styrofoam box of bite-sized goodness to fuel the fam. On the suggestion from yelper Tofer S., I pack up my grown up sister and brotherinlaw (Michael M.), along with the new baby nephew to try this place out. Walking up, I was a little intimidated. It looked like one of those places where you better have someone who can talk the talk to get some decent service. Unfortunately, no one from my party is well versed in the Chinese-tongue. But, the hostess were super friendly and walked us into a ballroom of a dining area and sat us while gushing over our little one. Who I determined to be the maitre d', suited up in a the classiest tux you can get from Ross, dictated some quick orders to the others and they all scrambled to get us settled. Our chrysanthemum (OMG I just spelled that correctly on the first try) tea came out super fast and then it was off to the dimsum-cart races. Everything we picked was satisfactory. The only thing that really stood out in my mind was the congee. I was initially very impressed that it was served in a good proportion to our party of 3, typically an order of this at other places can feed too many. It was nice to see that there was minimal waste. BUT, after tasting it, I wished we had more. Very good. Our waters were consistently filled, and the cart-drivers were nice and helpful. Not the best, not the worst. I'd come here to bring dim sum noobs and novices, but for the experts there's better.

My trusty GPS never failed me once until now. I was led to this shopping mall that I never knew existed and after turning two rights, I was suppose to be there. Well, there's no signs anywhere. I parked my car in the big parking structure following a group of people who looked like they were going for Dim Sum. Several minutes later, I gave up and called my friend who said go inside to Macy's and then exit through the East exit to find the place. After several more minutes, I'm in front of the place with my friends but I still don't see a sign of the restaurant. Oh well, at least I made it to my final destination. On a Sunday afternoon, this place is packed with families. I suggest you get here early to grab a ticket/number so you are on the ever growing wait list. After 45 minutes wait, we sit down to enjoy traditional Dim Sum items like har gow, char sui bow, bao low bow, beef/shrimp chow fun. You may have noticed I listed the most popular items. Well, that's about all they have. I didn't see any taro or any of the other items.

We went to the Dynasty Chinese Seafood Restaurant for dim sum. We had a group of 6 and we all like it. The place is on the 2nd floor, has an elevator, and is large. The food was good and fresh. The service was like most Chinese dim sum places............not very good IF you ask for something like water, more tea, or napkins. We will be open to returning to Dynasty in the future.

I went there for dim sum again - thought I will give it another and another try. Still not very impressed with the dim sum. It took a while for the dim sum cart to come to our table...and when it does - the dim sum is cold. The service is not good at all - I asked for plastic forks/spoons for the kids but it ended up I have to ask 3 times before I get it. Anyway to make the story short - I order about 7 order of dim sum and the bills come to about $50 including tax. I didn't think it was worth it.

Got to say one thing, Ooo Weee... The Dim Sum is here amazing, I don't know anywhere else that has good Dim Sum and I had my share of Dim Sum. I would so recommend this to everyone who likes to eat Dim Sum. They have carts that go around and you can choose what you want, as well as waiters and waitresses who take orders if you want something specialized. Amazing!

Dim Sum here is pretty meh. It isn't that the food is bad, but to me the selection isn't that good. I MUCH prefer to pull fresh items off carts that look good to me at the time, but here we ordered most of what we wanted since it wasn't coming around. I saw mostly the SAME items on the carts that did make it to us; the same things offered many times over. It was a busy weekend and this shouldn't happen. Selection, frequency and different flavors are the whole point of dim sum for me.

Two words to describe this place: 'ORGANIZE CHAOS'!! Seriously, it's located at the top of the stairs, which opens up to a huge banquet room filled with tons and tons of people. They probably have a staff of 100+ just to accomodate all the customers that file in every second...yes EVERY SECOND. It's a neverending line of people waiting to be seated. In our case there were only 3 in our party on a busy Sunday around 12pm and were seated quickly near the front. Not too long after the carts start rolling in! WHHOO-HOO. We ordered the following (and don't judge, girls can eat just as much as guys and not be considered a pig, also I'll probably mispell 1/2 the items we ordered, but I'm sure you'll know what i mean): 1. stuffed mushrooms 2. seaweed and jellyfish salad 3. hargaw 4. sho-mai 5. sesame balls 6. chinese broccoli 7. shrimp stuffed in eggplant and green pepper 8. and I can't remember the rest because by this time I had food como and was ready to pass out The complimentary tea wasn't so great - I think it was the flower they put in there, therefore, make sure to specifically ask for Jasmine tea. Overall the food was good, but this place was way too big for me. I had a sensory overload with all the people there. Made it less enjoyable to savor my food when random people are passing by and the little girl sitting next to us suddenly lifts up her shirt in front of us. Whoaaa....just what I needed with my sesame balls...NOT. I would of given this place 4 stars, but the noise level was way too loud.

Was here for a wedding not long ago. The food was decent, but the menu was pretty much entirely seafood-based so vegetarians are out of luck here. My camera was stolen when I walked away from the table for 10 minutes and my money is on one of the waiters since none of the event guests would want my $200 camera although I did check with them. The restaurant "security" and security cameras noticed nothing, but cameras don't just walk off tables! Management also did not go out of their way to be helpful. So watch your stuff if you go here!

My favorite dish here is their Smoked Seabass. It doesn't taste smoked but it has that color. I would describe it as lighly caramelized. If you haven't try it, you are missing out. It is the best fish dish I have ever tasted. I have tried pretty much everything at the restaurant. It's all good. My wife's favorite is their Walnut Prawns. Their Dim Sum is pretty decent, the menu is huge, and the quality of the food is excellent, not to mention the elegant ambiance, great service, etc.

We come here a lot for big family dim sum meals. This place is very affordable and they have a wide variety of dishes. Dim sum is perfect when you're really hungry and ready to devour a ton of food because once you sit down the carts don't stop rolling by. The restaurant is very clean and you can always flag down a waiter when you need something. Get the lobster pan fried noodles, it's only 17 bucks and its huge!!!

Finally came in for some dim sum. We were seated right away and it was around 12pm on a Saturday.. thank goodness for large banquet rooms w/ plenty of tables! The BF and I had the following: - Shu Mai... good - Pork Spareribs..... good - Har Gao..... lukewarm.. too much dough - Har Cheung Fun... YUM - Fried Taro... yum too! - Steamed Clams... lukewarm, ehhh - Fried Shrimp on Sugar Cane stick... yum, but no dipping sauce came w/ it - Braised Pork Shoulder dish... we thought it was a plate of bone marrow, but we were fooled! there was only one pork bone w/ marrow and the rest was just dry pork It was about $45 after tax and tip, more than we usually spend for dim sum, but we did order a few of the XL size dishes (clam and braised pork). Service was generally prompt, waters were refilled and they were quick to give us the bill when we were done. I noticed we were charged $1 per/person for tea. I always thought tea was supposed to be free? Overall, the dim sum was average, since most of the food arrived lukewarm to warm instead of hot like I like my food to be.

It had been quite sometime since I've had dim sum, so a couple of friends and I went to Dynasty for brunch. I've actually been to Dynasty before; however, it had been years since I've been back so I couldn't recall whether the dim sum was good or bad. Dynasty is located on the second floor of a fairly large building, so the restaurant is huge and roomy. We didn't have to wait long for a table, on a weekend afternoon. There were plenty of carts being pushed around with a lot of dim sum items. We got to order pretty much all of the dim sum staples--pork bun, dumplings, chicken feet, etc. There wasn't anything special about the food. The dumplings were big, but a little bland. My favorite is usually the fried taro dumpling, but it wasn't good here because it didn't have a lot of taro in it. The pork buns were big, but cold. The rice flour crepes were okay. The chicken feet wasn't very well seasoned and I just wasn't impressed! Sad, I guess people don't call them Dy-nasty for no reason.

This review is for their food and service on my cousin's wedding reception last weekend. The banquet was held on the first floor for about 30 tables. The room size is good for a small Vietnamese wedding. For some reason, I feel that the food that they serve is not as good as it used to be. The shrimp balls were over-cooked and very dry. The smoked salmon was a little bit mushy and didn't taste good anymore. I believe it's their signature dish for the banquet order and it's horrible now. On the service side, our table couldn't be able to get the ice refill as we kept on asking. This is a very importance if they're charging the 15% for the service. I don't care if they're busy or not, they have to add more waiters/waitresses to avoid this type of problems.

This place is decent. It's really good for wedding banquets. Vincent, the owner, is very difficult to deal with. James, on the other hand, is a good guy. He's the manager and the person you want to talk to. He is reasonable.

I usually come here for dim-sum with my family. They have it until 3 p.m. on weekends. There's nothing particularly memorable about this place except that it is exceptionally big and clean, considering it is a Chinese restaurant. I've never used their bathroom though so maybe not. I wanted to write a review on my last experience here, which was somewhat memorable (since it was just last week)... Is it just me or is it weird when the ladies pushing the carts around for dim-sum get mad when you don't pick anything from their cart? Are they on commission or something? Highly doubt it. They give you this look as if you will burn the entire restaurant to the ground if you don't order another 4 pieces of grease-infested shumai. Anyway, this place definitely has some of those ladies. There was one in particular that stood out to me and my family. (Keep in mind that some of them speak little, if no English at all)... We contemplate about getting another order of chicken feet and when we decide that we are just too full to suck on chicken toes, we politely decline another order. The lady pushing the cart gives us the infamous look and then blurts out "SEE YOU LATER THEN!" My entire family and I start laughing. My funny uncle wishes he had replied, "In a while, crocodile!" It was just too funny. Maybe you had to be there but just imagine a Chinese lady saying it in an angry voice and you'll be pretty close. Until next time, crocodile lady!

Our family has been going here to eat dim sum for years! Probably because we live 5 minutes away! jk, it's of course because the dim sum is so consistently delicious here. I have to admit that the waiters here are very fast at their service and that's the greatest customer service you'll ever get at a typical Asian place. I feel that for dim sum, time and seating are KEY. We usually stop by 12 on the dot because they have made everything fresh and everyone's lagging to eat around 12:30. Also try to get a prime table spot because then all the dim sum ladies will flock to you and you won't have to wear your arm out flagging for food. The Ha Kao and Shu Mai are great, very fresh and always a favorite. The Banh Cuon with Shrimp (iono what it's called in Chinese) covered in soy sauce is great too, we usually order way too many plates of it.

I attended a banquet at Dynasty, and while the ambiance is a little sketchy (particularly the combined bathroom/employee changing area), I was surprised by the food. Everything was well-cooked and seasoned, which was surprising for a group of 300. The shark fin soup was delicious and the pork was tender and meaty. The fried fish with salt and garlic seasoning was crunchy and flavorful. Overall, a very tasty meal.

This place really sucks for dim. Tasteless food. Doesn't even look appetizing. I've been here at night for their wedding food...not bad, but nothing amazing. Better than their dim sum. Big location. Love how spacious it is. Love their location. Went to buy more food from the plaza after dim sum here. Cheap food.

I ate dim sum here for my Dad's birthday recently, but it wasn't my first time. I remember when this place first opened and every Sunday, it would always be poppin. Nowadays, it's died down a bit but still gets a little busy. Anyways, onto the food. The dim sum is pretty much standard fare. The portion size of each dish seems a bit smaller than your normal dim sum place. The things that stand out here are the dumplings with the green onion in it, egg tarts, and the crab and shrimp balls. The dining area is huge. Because of this, you sometimes have to wait forever if you are waiting for a particular cart to make your way. The remedy to this? Flag down one of the guys in suits and just tell them what you want and it'll come out piping hot from the kitchen. Problem solved, although it doesn't let me eat the food on the cart with my eyes before it enters my mouth. Overall, decent spot, but nothing too crazy that makes it stand out from the rest.

The restaurant is seriously massive, and apparently there used to be a downstairs too? Standard Hong Kong style, but with awesome service. I could see this place being used often for wedding receptions or private parties. There are a few private banquet rooms in the back as well. Seems as though the majority of reviews are for dim sum, but this review is for dinner. As in Chinese New Year's Eve dinner, ten course banquet style, Set Meal #2, $338.88 for a table of ten. Of the courses that I can remember: standard cold appetizer plate, shark fin soup (I know, bad, but I didn't order nor pay), roasted chicken, walnut shrimp, stewed oysters (the only dish I didn't like), broiled sea bass, lobster with garlic/butter, bak choy with shitake mushrooms, and fried rice with shrimp and scallops. Dessert was almond cookies and red bean soup. The food itself was definitely good, though expensive: Mom didn't complain about greasiness, Uncle didn't break out in MSG-related hives, and Auntie was excited for plenty of leftovers for the next day's lunch. All in all, a good start to the New Year. I do have to restate that service was excellent: when my dad fumbled with the chopsticks, they rushed out to bring a fork and knife. They brought out each course promptly and they changed our dishes halfway through. Tea pot was always filled, as were the water glasses. Quite a rare find!

Came here for a 600+ wedding banquet and had an awesome time and the food was FANTASTIC!!! I know it's family style, but being able to feed 600+ people all at the same time, while not compromising on quality or flavor is just amazing. We feasted on the following: - Suckling Pig Platter - Walnut Prawns - Peaking Duck - Sauteed Scallops and Squid with Snow Pea - Sharks Fin Soup with Crab - Sampan Style Lobster - Abalone, Black Mushrooms, Chinese Broccoli - Smoked Sea Bass - Seafood Fried Rice - Dim Sum Delight - Red Bean Dessert Soup Every single thing was really great, but my favorite was definitely the sampan lobster and the abalone. Those abalone were HUUUUUUGE and so tender and savory. Service is nothing special, but overall this restaurant is great to host an evening such as this one. Congrats Rita and Sam Pen!!!

Dim Sum! Dim Sum! Dim Sum! Whoever invented dim sum is a genius! Soooooo goood! So much variety and it's super cheap. I was so surprised how much I loved having brunch here with one of my girlfriends. I was expecting a long wait but maybe because we beat the crowd and came early we were seated right away. Plus all of our dishes were freshly made :) Every dish we had was fantastic. The service was good although they forgot our porridge. I will definitely come back around 10:30am like I did today!

I come here every time we are in San Jose! This restaurant is a hit for dim sum. The portions are right and everything is fresh and steamy. I like the fact that the waiters push around carts with all the different dishes you can actually take a look and see before you order! The service is actually pretty good. The wait staff is always at tentative and very friendly. If you go an hour before they close for lunch, the waiters with carts hang around your table so they can get rid of their dim sum. Not a problem with me and my family, we come hungry!

Came here with friends for Dim Sum on a weekday morning. There were not many food choices. Everything we had was not that great, I've had a lot better. Service was not that great either. I would definitely not be going back.

Labor Day madness! The theme of the day? Waiting and lots of it. Let me count the ways. -Waiting for your number to be called. -Waiting to be seated. -No waiting for the food to initially come by....BUT!......waiting for something different besides the same 3 types of carts serving the same items (steamed dumplings, fried items, cold items). Had those already, got anything else? -Waiting for the carts to come back to our area after the initial first wave. -Waiting for someone to refill my water. -Waiting for them to return the bill w/ credit card.....and giving the wrong one......so further waiting for them to give the right one. I like the dim sum at Dynasty. I've had it many times before and it was good that day. It was just the "waiting" theme that was very upsetting. It's probably best to avoid major holidays unless you want to tackle the "wait".

I came here for Dim-Sum on a Sunday morning. The wait wasn't too long, we waited for about 10 minutes for a group of 7 people? The service was pretty fast, there is a lot of dimsum carts going around. Wasn't that impressed though, the food was just okay. I probably won't come back anytime soon.

Pretty good stuff. I guess 10 am is the best time to come. Everything was fresh. You know Dim Sum is old when the wanton wrapper from the Shrimp Dumplings starts sticking to the paper. But it was so fresh the shrimp dumpling stayed intact without falling apart. The egg tart was so fresh it was still warm, so delicious.

I've been going here for as long as I can remember; For weddings, group dinners/lunch, special occasions, and for dim sum. If I was rating this just for the dim-sum, I would give it a 4. It's good, not the best, but not bad either. However, their lunch/dinner food is not that great. Lots of different dishes but I'm really just indifferent to the taste. The service is alright...pretty unorganized and basically you get multiple waiters throughout your meal. Pretty standard for an Asian restaurant. The atmosphere is loud and casual. At the end of your meal, the table gets free Asian dessert...I personally dislike it but lots of people like it too. Overall, not a place I choose to go to, but if I had to, I would be content.

Compared to the popular dim sum places: Joy Luck Place, Hong Kong Saigon, this places win for seating, spacious and no long lines. So the dim sum may not be the best but very good. The best part is their service. I am always amazed how attentive they are. The ladies take time to let you see everything on their carts. The people who get you water/tea/cheque are quick. One time, a friend who wanted shrimp dumplings was learning to pronounce it in proper Cantonese before asking. One of the servers passing by heard us repeating "Har Gao" and just went to the cart and brought it to us. When have you seen this kind of service in a dim sum place?

Peking duck is not good. The duck skin is soft and soggy. The picture can be very misleading.

Their dim sum and typical chinese dishes are decent, but the wedding menu selections are exceptional! I had my wedding reception here and I just love coming back for weddings. My menu consisted of the following items: Crab & sharkfin soup Cold platter with different cuts of meat, jellyfish, and seaweed salad Deep fried crab claws with sweet & sour sauce Peking duck with fluffy white buns Honey walnut prawns Combination fried rice Smoked Chilean seabass (my favorite!) Abalone with shiitake mushrooms & chinese broccoli Lobster sauteed in garlic and chili peppers Sweet red bean and tapioca soup Delicious wedding food. Prompt service. Great management.

We came here for a friend's birthday dim sum. We had trouble flagging someone down for carts, they didn't want to tell us what they had on the cart when we did get one to stop and they were generally rude to us. The dim sum itself was pretty tasty all around, though. Next time, I'll have to come with people who actually make sure something makes it's way around the table before they take seconds, though.

Dynasty has one of the best wedding banquet foods! Forget having banquets in San Francisco. The food at Dynasty is excellent and very tasty!!!!! Plus, the restaurant is 15 minutes from my house :) My family and I went to the second level for the wedding banquet. The tables and chairs were decorated nicely. The second level has plenty of room to accommodate 50+ tables. In addition, there is a small dance floor towards the front of the room. Service was very attentive. Our ice bucket was replaced every 20 minutes, even if the ice bucket was filled half way. The ice machine was working hard yesterday night. The weirdest thing to me was that tea was not served at all. There weren't any tea cups for the tea, so the guests had to drink soda or alcohol. Hmm.. we requested a teapot hot water and a pitcher of water from one of the servers. The food was delicious! This place does not want people to have leftovers, so the serving size was 1 piece/small serving per person. I felt satisfied at the end of the dinner with the portion size. We had the following: + Combo Appetizer platter- Had jelly fish, sliced beef and pork, seaweed salad, and deep fried pork. I normally don't eat pork skin, but this was so crispy and fresh! Very good! + Shark fin soup with crab meat- Normally the shark fin soup has chicken or some meat, so the crab meat was an interesting twist. I loved how the soup had chunks of crab meat. + Deep fried stuffed crab claws- The stuffing was shrimp. Not bad. I burned the roof of my mouth as the claw was hot. + Lobster in a Sampan Style- The lobster was fresh and had a deep fried batter. The Sampan style was interesting as it included red peppers and black beans. The flavors complimented the lobster. + Peking Duck- YES! I love Peking Duck. The buns were small, but the duck skin was a deep golden color and crispy. WooHoo. Not a lot of meat on the duck though. + Abalone with black mushroom and bitter greens- Eh, okay dish. + Smoked Sea Bass- Oh goodness. This was Chilean Sea Bass since every piece melted in your mouth. The fish was so buttery and moist. I could have eaten the entire fillet. One of the best dishes of the night! + Fried Rice- It was okay. The rice was still moist. + Dim Sum Delight- The mini dim sum desserts were so cute! We had a marshmellow square which had a white top layer and a pink bottom layer. There was also a sesame ball cookie. + The dessert was red bean- This place used all red beans in the dessert. I'm glad they didn't have the tapioca along with the red bean. Overall, it was an excellent dinner!

Mmm... this was delicious! We came here for dim sum on a Saturday and the place was oddly empty (although this changed as time passed). Contrary to what others on here are saying, I actually found the dim sum to be extremely tasty and well priced. The variety is nice, too. The location, sandwiched between the 101 and 280, is super convenient.

I usually order a standard set of food. For today it was as follows: 1) The "booru nai wong bai" (Hong Kong style pineapple bun with yellow custard) is a desert and was AWESOME AWESOME. THe top was a firm, crispy cookie, the inside was piping hot. THis is the best I've had since I recollect.... 2) The chicken feet was only okay--something about them but I can't quite put it... 3) The hargow (shrimp dumpling) were great. Not too salty. A tad on the small side but the skin was firm and didn't separate too easily. Depends on your taste if you like it to be softer or not... 4) The jook (rice porridge) with bits of preserved duck egg and finely chopped Chinese donut was a tad watery for my taste. 5) The lo mei fan (bamboo leaf-wrapped sticky rice) did not have good ingredients that I've seen in other places like egg yolk, abalone, or Chinese sausage. 6) The steamed char siu bao (steamed pork bun) was great. The meat inside was not fatty. 7) Finalyly we got beef wrapped in long rice sheets (damn forget the name). It was fine. The chrysanthenum tea which I guess is charged $0.20 extra, so tea was $1.20 per person. Also, as someone else indicated most of the food appears to be warm (only piping hot were #1 and #5 in my order). Overall, acceptable. The price was a bit high (as this is my usual order set). At other dim sum places would expect it to be about $25; here it ran about $28.50

Try to come before noontime to avoid the hectic parking lot. Walking up the stairway I was got excited because I was so hungry!! The dining room is huge! I mean HUGE! They can section off different areas to have private parties, weddings etc. Big open space with candeliers and banquet tables. There was a mini wedding reception in the corner that we got to look at too. Once seated we were overwhelmed with all the cart ladies at once! 4 ladies telling us what they had was pure chaos! LOL -Siu mai: good. small. -shrimp chives: awesome, big chunks of shrimp, dough was perfect -chinese broccoli: simple, when can you not have chinese broccoli! -porridge: steaming hot, did not care for the crispy wontons on top which ended up being really soggy. add soy sauce and hot sauce comfort in a bowl -fried shrimp w cane sugar: light fluffy came w a nice dipping sauce -fried taro root: my new favorite dim sum item! fried mashed taro with meat and mushrooms was divine! Sweet and savory! Thanks Vicki T.! -bbq pork buns: average, the bread was very soft Really enjoyed this place. For me I did not think the food was bland or boring. I did not get to try a lot of other items because I got full so fast. The cart ladies came by like every 5 mins to show us what they had. I just wanted to grab everything off all the carts. For 3 girls we ended up playing $15 each. Not bad! 1 star off for the service. It is a hit or miss I guess. We did not get a refill on our water until after we were done eating. I would come back only if I am in the area.

I was here for a wedding reception the other day and got a different food experience here than what I would get at a normal Dim Sum/Chinese restaurant. The food here was pretty standard for the most part. I was a bit weary on the small dish of boiled meats, but it went pretty well with the hot sauce as I was waiting for the other dishes to come out. I didn't get the Dim Sum experience, but I was okay with the typical Chinese food. Oh well.

This review is for the Dim Sum only. Shrimps on all items were mushy. There's no bite or crunch to it. The place got very close to getting a 1 star review if the service wasn't there. After an eventful night at Daryl P's UYE at M's cafe, we were craving for Dim Sum. Dynasty was one of the two restaurants that yelp popped up for somewhat decent reviews. If this was one of the two best dim sum places in San Jose, I am saddened. Everything was mediocre to below average. I have had better at a dim sum to go place. Very sad to say. The place is big and yes the cart ladies are very pushy with their items. I am personally used to it so it really didn't bother me at all. I would definitely skip this place in the future or drive back to San Francisco.

4.5/5 +Went here for a friends wedding last week. By far the best Chinese food for weddings. Which earns it's points. Been here for dim sum but experience was so-so -lipstick marks on rims of glassES. I know there were millions of cups but they had plenty of servers to wipe them. - a waitress walking around PLAYING on her iPhone while replacing tables ice buckets. Workaholic? I think not. *Picture* -crappy sound system. I could not hear the MC speak at all

They ran out of soft tofu and it wasn't even late in the day. Next time, got to flag down that cart. Everything comes out in rolling carts, but it seems pretty plentiful. Again, we had to ask for chicken feet and the fried taro cart. The fried taro wasn't good. It wasn't crunchy, but soggy. There were no desserts like mango pudding, egg tarts, etc. Very disappointing not to have desserts. Plenty of seats and parking so there was no wait. The service was fine: you ask, they bring. I was told this place can fit 100 banquet tables. Boy, I would like to know how much that bill would be.

Meh, i've experienced better. I came here with some girlfriends. We ordered roasted chicken, chinese brocoli, rice, and a seafood clay pot and honey walnut prawns. Parking is a pain, service was awful, food was overpriced, and I probably won't ever come back

I was pleased with their dim sum. went here with my mom and the two of us feasted on so many dishes... we didn't finish it all of course, but we did take it to-go! btw, i like to dip my stuff in soy sauce and red vinegar mixed together. mmmmm Tripe: not sure what it's really called, but it's pretty much tripe cooked down. wish I knew the sauce or ingredients... very light flavor. You'll like tripe if you can stand the texture and don't get freaked out about how it looks. banh cuon with shrimp: uhh i think in english it's something like rice stick noodle cake or something with a shrimp on the inside and a sweetish soy sauce pour over. (sorry for my lack of vietnamese. fail) this has always been my favorite since I was a little kid. There's no way a restaurant can do this dish wrong since it's so simple. a must try. haa-gowww: haha okay that's not how it's spelled, but that's the best I can do. I guess they're shrimp dumplings? They are in a white wrapper and look like mini wontons or gyozas. Not too bad here. not much flavor though. need more ginger or garlic or something in the shrimp mixture. shu-mai: shrimp dumplings. these tend to have more flavor than the one stated above. i love the ones with the quail egg in it, but this didn't have one. the wrapping is usually a yellowish color and you can see what's in it on the top. another typically, delicious dim sum must have chinese broccoli with oyster sauce: get your veggies in! oyster sauce is a black sauce that tastes nothing like oysters. not sure why it's called that... fried little taro cakes: mmmmmmm get it! they look like furry little fried pastry things. dip it in soy sauce chicken feet: i know, i know. they look creepy, but they actually taste good. i used to never eat them because of how hey looked, but my friend made me try it and it was actually good. don't worry, you don't feel the rubbery-ness or anything. the skin is quite soft and the meat or muscles are delicious. they are a lot of bones though so be prepared to spit them out Porridge... or is it congee? not the best here. needs a little more garlic or more black eggs. i barely got any in my soup! all in all, not bad for dim sum. lots of selections. service was good. refilled my waters when needed. even tried to replace my plate when it was splattered with bones and sauce. food carts came around very quickly so there was no need to wait long for certain items.

Mediocre banquet food left a negative impression on me, so I won't even bother to try the dim sum here. Instead of roasted peking duck with white buns, they served roasted chicken with fried shrimp chips. The fried rice was beyond bland (I sadly can make better at home; be liberal with the soy sauce!) and mushrooms replaced abalone atop the chinese bok choi dish. I know such substitutions may partly be due to budget restraints, but the simplification of dishes still rendered them not very good. A good Chinese restaurant should easily be able to make delicious the most basic dishes. The actual restaurant looks nice, and I've never had problems finding parking, but the food leaves much to be desired.

I came here with some coworkers for lunch. 3 Chinese folks and 1 non-Asian person thats never been to dim sum. Around lunch, there was a lot of empty tables, which is nice because you get service (and food) faster. At any dim sum, I ALSO order my favs: big noodle with bbq, fried taro with beef, and egg tart or bo-lo bow. The things we ordered: big noodle w/ bbq, w/ shrimp, w/ beef, spareribs w/ black bean, chicken feet, shrimp dumpling, blah blah and egg tarts and bo-lo bow. My non-Asian coworker loved the big noodle w/ bbq and spareribs. She courageously tried the chicken feet and didn't throw up! LOL. She thought it was ok. To my surprised, non of my coworkers have tried bo-lo bow before, all of them loved it. =) The food equality here isn't "awesome" but alright. I'd say this place would be more of met the bar / standard on how dim sum should taste. The service...thats a different story. They were quick take away empty dishes, but where's my water refill? They had a lot of carts rolling frequently which is cool, but its probably due to the lack of customers. For some reason, San Jose still lacks an excellent dim sum joint. Maybe a fast food dim sum place? I'd so rock that!

Came here for Chinese New Years.. Instead of having the chinese menu, they replaced it with some new years menu. DISGUSTING. We had the oyster and seaweed moss (uhmmm DRIED OYSTERS?!), the fish (fried like fish and chips with corn soup thrown over??) two kinds of veggies (decent but still sloppy) and the chive noodles (worst of all dishes- noodles literally tasted like paper and NO taste. yuck). We told the head waiter thinking that he might take a plate off or a discount... NOPE. .. and to think that we are regulars here. Great service though, but I don't know what the hell happened that day.

I was here Christmas morning to eat dim sum with my family. The food was as usual, but the serve was HORRIBLE!!! My tables glasses were empty of water and I simply flagged down one of the main guys to get us some more water. This man walked towards me and just put his hand up like, "whatever" and simply just ignored me and walked away. WTF? Excuse me! But I'm a paying customer and you're going to treat me like shit? After this incident, I complained to my mother to not pay tip. I stood up and pointed him out and kept pointed at him telling my mother what a rudeass waiter he was. She just told me she couldn't do anything about it because our group is so large and the tip will be included already. UGH! I definitely hope that man gets fired. About 5 minutes later, this man decides to finally bring a jug of water and fill our glasses. Now who looks stupid? HAHAHAHA. I'm not sure who this person is, but he's always wearing a black suit. Tall, balding on the top of his head, but still has hair around in a circle. He looked maybe mid 30's. Very ugly... I normally don't drink the water here because of a previous incident that I've already explained in my last review. The only reason why I drank it this day, is because the man that stuck his finger in the water, (manager) wasn't there this day.

This place is just over-rated. I think many weddings happen here is because there is no restaurant around to accommodate the guests who mostly live in San Jose. Maybe a small handful, but when it comes to making sure people go is to make them happy. What about the bride and groom...damn it!!!!! Why have a wedding reception to satisfy the guests!!! C'est stupide, n'est-ce pas?? If I had a wedding it would be my way or the highway. Back to the restaurant...sorry got carried away....food here is okay, it depends on who orders what. I have never been here to dine other than at weddings. I am not stupid to spend that kind of money on expensive chinese food. At weddings, the menu varies, and depends on the bride and groom's budget. Want to be cheap and don't give a crap...the menu ain't all that. Want to splurge a bit more? The menu is better. Want to be a high rolla? Then seafood it is. Whatever! I have never been impressed.

Review only for their banquet style food. Was here with BF and several others including Shinny L. So "Select All" + "Copy" + "Paste" her list of goodies :) In general, the food was acceptable, good even :) I'm relatively critical about Chinese food...I eat it all the time! I LOVE it so finding the food good here is definitely a good sign :) The chicken was a little too greasy for me so I think I'd have to itnay that...but I really liked the pseudo abalone & veggie dish, reminds me of food my mom cooks :) The fried fish dish was delicious, justly crispy - tasted a bit like fish sticks but I like it :) Overall enjoyable meal :) I'd recommend the banquet.

I honestly don't understand what draws people to this restaurant in particular. Maybe its the close proximity to the Asian community. Or maybe because it looks premium and fancy? Who knows? Dynasty sports a pretty nice interior, but thats all it really has going for it. It's a pretty common venue for wedding dinners. Coming here for dimsum, you can expect pretty standard dimsum. It won't blow your taste buds away, thats for sure. Oh, and it can get pretty packed during the dimsum hours so seating may be troublesome. The dimsum carts in circulation don't seem to follow any specific routes and just go every which way they want. My table experienced a dimsum drought for about 15-20 minutes. Not a pleasant experience at all. Dinner is more of the same. Mediocre Chinese food that is unreasonably priced. The last time I ate here, the waiter was hovering over our table a bee. I felt a bit harassed, but hey at least he got out drinks quick. The food itself isn't spectacular especially for what you're paying. I felt like I was robbed. Bottom line: You'll be getting okay food at some not okay prices. 1.5/5.0

This place isn't anything special. Typical large banquet that sees its fair share of Chinese weddings. My cousin had her banquet/reception here and it was okay. We had the downstairs area which accommodated about 200 or so guests. They have a changing room, DJ area, and room to set up a picture backdrop. The food was mediocre. I don't know if it is because it was a wedding banquet and they felt they could get away with it, but it was not very tasty. I believe my cousin said the entire venue cost around $10k for approximately 200 guests. I don't know if that is on the expensive end, but I would have expected better food. In any case, i know this is a popular venue for Chinese weddings!

Vanq G. wrote an review about how the food during a wedding was pretty bad. I'm here to tell you what happens during the wedding preparation. I came to Dynasty to eat with a girlfriend of mine who lived in the area. She's Vietnamese but I'm chinese. For the past couple weeks, she's been showing me the wonders of Vietnamese food that can be found in San Jose, and I've been astounded. I brought her to Dynasty to show her what chinese food is like, but that was such a bad idea. First of all, we were moved around twice while they figured out where we can sit without disturbing wedding preparations. That's not too bad. What's worse is that the food was cold and the service was terrible. I don't understand how a restaurant can't keep their food hot for their customers, but a chilly ha gao is not something you wanna taste, especially if it was probably not very tasty to begin with. Not only that, we were rushed out pretty quickly. They asked us to pay they check before we were done eating. We did because I thought they were closing the register. Once we paid, they came by and took away our food even though we weren't completely done with it. There wasn't much food left, and I can see how they ight be mistaken, but they didn't even ask. Maybe the experience would have been better if I got there early and not before a wedding. But I should not have to anticipate that.

After a loyal customer since its opening, I can see this resturant is goind down the drain. The service and food USED to be good. But everything has changed. Along with the rest, the receptionist doesn't understand customer service. You will get the taste of MSG more than the taste of food. The quantity and especially the quality of every bit deserve a ONE small star.

This place is located in the grand century plaza meaning... Difficult time finding parking. The dim sum here is good... Not amazing but good.

WORST... DIM SUM... EVER. My parents drag me here to eat out of CONVENIENCE - since it's their hood - but man, is this place NO BUENO, or what?! On several occassions, my food has literally tasted like cigarette smoke... like biting into dumplings of grease and ash. I don't know how they manage to do it, but that's how it was. Service here is typical of any dim sum restaurant, but they pack those tables in too close. Once again, proximity rears its ugly head to ruin a dining experience when a family is seated back-to-back to you. You'd think the person that keeps hitting you from behind is a child, but its an unruly adult that thinks they have the right of way when trying to muscle in on your personal space. I can't help but want to punch a bitch when I am here... I've put off this review for too long, but I must tell you to AVOID it like the plague. Now I must add my own version of the typical "Dynasty" pun w/ intent: "Die, Nasty. Die..."

1 star for convenience 1 star for cheap price (only for dim sum) 1 star for service The only reason why I go here are for those three reasons mentioned above. I don't think the food is exceptionally good nor bad, I would say it is mediocre. I don't like coming there on a Sunday, it is extremely busy and it is hard to get any attention. Usually, by the time the carts get to you, either the dim sum I want is all gone or its not fresh.

I photographed a wedding banquet here. It's work, so I can't really give a complete review on the food because that's not what I was here for. I can only comment on the location, hospitality and the dishes I was able to sample. The room was huge, well lit and the decor was simple. They had the prerequiste holding tanks with shrimp, crab, geoduck and fish swimming around ready to be slaughtered and eaten. The dance floor wasn't that big, but as it turned out, it was the perfect size because most of the guest were gray and wrinkled and all they care about is the food. So, there wasn't a problem with a crowded dance floor. The employees were very accomodating to the wedding party. There were no problems that I noticed. It was cool that there was a separate table for the DJ and myself to eat at. They had some seafood chow mein and shrimp fried rice ready for us. The chow mein was really good! I didn't want to share it with the DJ! The fried rice was okay. I think the rice should have been fried a little longer. I asked my friend who was being served the real stuff to score me some of what they were being served. I got to taste the lobster, black mushroom w/ veggies and scallops. I thought they were all excellent. Especially the scallops. They were gigantic. I wish I was able to try more dishes. I thought this was an excellent place to hold a wedding reception.

Never again shall I come here! Only reason why.... my father is so stubborn and he's Asian. Never likes change always sticking to the regular spots. He just makes everything difficult. ugh. Service is horrible. Literally you are chasing down these food carts when in actuality they should be serving you right as you sit down. Nope not this restaurant. I'm waving my hands for these carts to come but these Chinese employees pretend they don't see me. If your going to come here your just wasting your time. Also, parking is horrible with horrible Asian drivers. If you want to eat good dim sum... Mayflower dim sum in Milpitas!

I'm not sure why Dynasty only has an overall rating of 3 stars because I think it's amazing. Either people aren't ordering the right things or I just like their style of cooking. As far as cantonese food goes, this is pretty good. I've gone for dim sum at lunch and for regular dinner, as well as family banquets numerous times. The selection is pretty good (they have everything I want anyway) and the service is dependable, more so at night when there are fewer people. Dishes are always cooked very well and I walk away feeling very satisfied. If you get the chance, get the chilean seabass. This is one fish that just melts in your mouth. As for the other fish, they're always very fresh and steamed well with jiang you that goes very well. However, during dim sum IT IS SERIOUSLY PACKED. people are waiting outside and every table is taken. That's saying a lot since this place is big enough to be three restaurants if you count the back room and all of the private rooms. Beware, you may have to wait awhile if you go during lunch time.

i've been here for dim sum, regular dinner, and a wedding banquet dinner. Dim sum is great. The food is good. Service is a little lacking and it could use a bit more variety, but in the south bay it's hard to find a decent dim sum place so i have to stick to this (other suggestions are welcome). For regular dinner, it was dead. We ordered a wor wonton soup and chicken/vegetable dish (forget which one), but i was not happy with the price. $10 each dish! I can get better chinese food for $5 each or less. Never coming back here for dinner again. For the wedding banquet, it was nice and spacious and the food was great (banquet style is expensive though). However, it's the usual spot to have an asian wedding banquet because there isn't any other restaurant that is big or prestigious enough to have it in.

Don't let the spiral staircase and pretty chandeliers fool you. It's nice that there's enough space here so that the dim sum carts aren't causing a traffic jam in the middle of the restaurant, but is it really worth it for mediocre food? I think I would almost prefer the hustling and bustling of a smaller dim sum place if it meant great food. Everytime I come here, the food isn't memorable at all. And the prices are ridiculous for the quality of food here. I'm sure it's different here for dinner. This looks like a great place for dinner! Maybe one day I'll get to taste it for myself. =) The service here is pretty good though. The waiters will actually pay attention to you and bring you anything you need fairly quick. This place wouldn't be my first choice for dim sum, but at least the stuff is edible, even though sometimes the food on the cart is cold.

Many people told me that this place for dimsum is really good, and that usually there are a lot of people waiting. Well, yes there is some truth to that fact, there was a lot of people waiting on the weekends, but the dimsum was so-so. This place is a big restaurant, for that quality gets stretch. Because of this restaurant being so large, a lot of the food gets cold while they circle around the big area. Imagine having hot saucy claims, that turn into icy jellytin claims. A lot workers running a round its somewhat hard to catch anyone attention to get anything. No parking in the parking lot, that's usual.

I love the Dim Sum here. It's tasty, delectable, not too greasy and hot! One of my biggest pet peeves is going to a restaurant and getting warm or even cold food when it's meant to be HOT! There are tons of carts roaming around the restaurant. However, the restaurant is quite spacious and large. So sometimes the carts aren't always on the side you want it to be. The prices here are fair. It's more inexpensive than most of the Dim Sum restaurants around here and taste way better. $20 will get you so full you won't be able to breathe. That's how much my father and I spent for 2 people! Service isn't that good though but who cares when the food is so delicious. They do refill your tea pot and water often. Also, when you request items they bring it promptly but sometimes they forget. Hostess greet and seat you right when you walk in (usually).

Dynasty is one of the few restaurants that can host large wedding parties on the East side of San Jose. It has two stories and the last time we ate there, there were two separate wedding parties going on. The restaurant reserved a small section for their regular customers during weddings. It was really noisy due to the weddings. The prices of the entrees were very expensive. The walnut shrimp was $18.00 vs. $12-13 from most restaurants. We were checking out this place for our nephew's after graduation ceremony lunch, but opted to go to Ocean Delight Seafood Restaurant instead since the food, service, and ambiance was better there.

DIM SUM: weak DINNER: eh WEDDING/BANQUETS: GREAT! Their dim sum is expensive and really not that great. The dinner, you have a wide selection, any kinda Chinese dish you can get at any place, you can get here too. The service is good, I haven't had a complaint. They fill me up with water often. The view is lovely, not super since it's Story Road, but 2nd floor dining not bad. Only other place I can think of that can offer that is ABC in Milpitas. So... what is there to rave about? The Wedding food is bomb. It's great, expensive, but great. The place is large can host way over 600 guest. Besides weddings, banquets here are also a treat! But if it's just you and your family or lady friend... it's just a-ok.

first and last time i eat at that place. the food tasted like cheap fast chinese food; and for the price we paid we could've dined at la pondu or have a lobster dinner at a fancy fish restaurant. How does crispy fried oysters sound? delicious, right? Wrong! they were completely tasteless; i had one out of the 6 or 7 on the plate. food is greasy and super salty. yacki experience all together.

I have no idea why everyone raves about this place. I go here every now and then when my friends want dim sum. I don't really suggest that it's good but my friends seem to love it. Went there today and boy this place's parking lot is not adequate to support all their guests. When we got inside, we got seated right away. The service is like any other Chinese restaurant. You ask for something and they say "yeah, yeah, yeah" and we never get it. I wanted the few usual items and asked for it numerous times and never got it. I pretty much had to chase down the ladies pushing the carts around to get some food. So in a nutshell... The food was ok, nothing extraordinary, service was wasn't that great, and pricing is above average. I don't really recommend this place. There are tons of other great dim sum places not so far away from this place.

Maybe the economical crisis have people staying away from dim sum because when we arrived here, there were so many open tables. My sister even mentioned, the last time she was there, all tables were filled. We got there at prime time for dim sum but yet, we were seated right away with a lot of empty tables. Okay...on to the dim sum, the variety is definitely there. They serve HK style dim sum that I have not yet seen down here in Southern California. They have this fried Chinese donut wrapped with rice noodle it is hard to find down here. I also tried is soft milk rolled caked that was most with a custard taste. The other dim sum is the basic dim sum you can find anywhere, like the haw gaw and siu mai. I didn't really feel like dim sum that day so I only nibbled on this and that. If I am in the area, I will definitely come back here to try their other plates.

Ditto what Jen D. said. Though our abalone wasn't very good and bit tough. When I asked the server about food options that did not include seafood he looked at me like I had a third eye. Hubby ate half the plate of duck and its its so he was happy. Also, I don't know if it was the DJ or the places sound system, but damn it was loud.

    1) It's a pretty environment 2) The waitress' and waiters attitudes during dinner time are the WORSE. There was a time when I was eating and the waitress just took the dish away thinking I was finished. Another time, my mom asked for a to-go box and the man screamed at her and told her to shut up in Chinese. She wasn't even being rude or anything. 3) Be careful of their TIP. We went a couple times and they charged us a 20% tip for just 4 people. Afterwards, they had the guts to yell at us for not leaving EXTRA tip on the table for them. 4) The food is okay. 5) There are always weddings. 6) There's a Vietnamese shopping mall called Grand Century next to it. I love the Vietnamese noodle shop inside towards the left end when you enter the mall. Their fish for two is SUPER DELICIOUS. You guys have to try it. Overall, we never went back to Dynasty.

At any given time, I will always be up for eating dim sum. I met up with a friend here because we were way too late for breakfast and you can pick and choose how much you want to eat here. This is your typical dim sum place. Not extremely great, but just enough to hit the spot. Personally, I love chicken feet and although I've had better, this place wasn't so bad either. For those of you who have never tried, you are missing out. TRUST me, I used to hate chicken feet with a passion until one day my older brother forced me to eat it. That day changed my life and now I'm hooked. Honestly there's nothing I can really say because all dim sum places are exactly the same to me. They do, however, refill your water so frequently that I don't think I ever saw my glass half empty. Anyway, this place is on the second floor and although it looks spacious, it can get filled pretty quickly. I went right at 11AM on a weekday and by 11:15 half the place was already full. If you're going to come here, come EARLY.

I came to Dynasty this afternoon with five other friends to have dim sum. The place was busy with majority of the tables occupied. This restaurant is big. We waited for a long time before a cart even came by. I love siu mai and it isn't all that great here. All other items we grabbed from the cart was decent. We didn't grab a lot of food because nobody at the table looked like they were enjoying their food. Also, this place is expensive. For what we paid, we would have had more food on the table if we went elsewhere. One of my friends was still hungry when we left the restaurant so we went elsewhere to eat afterwards. Service here is definitely not their strong point. It takes forever to flag someone down. And when they DO come, they're not giving you their undivided attention. They are looking elsewhere and walk away before you can finish your sentence. My friend asked for more napkins and I asked for another glass of water and the napkins were brought out but not my glass of water. My friend had to give me his glass of water because my empty glass was never refilled nor another one was brought out to me. If I had to name a great aspect about this place, it wouldn't be their food. The only two things I can think of at the moment is that this place is big and it looks nice. Dynasty, you didn't score very high with me today. If I'm paying, I wouldn't come to Dynasty for dim sum.

I came here for dimsum a few times...and I didn't enjoy it at all. I think it's kinda pricy and the food isn't that great. There's not even much of a varety..this is not my choice of place for dimsum when I am in San Jose. There's definitely many better places. I also went to two weddings here and the food is not that bad. They have two floors so there were two weddings going on at the same time..I think the top floor is bigger so they accommodate bigger wedding banquet. But yeah..the food for the banquet is actually decent. I haven't been here for dinner yet, but maybe I will give a try sometimes.

I just had my wedding here on 9/5/09. To top things off, every guest said the food was delicious. Honestly, we have all been to weddings where the food wasn't the best, or maybe 5 out of 10 were, but every guest that I have spoken to said the food that night was the best they have had by far. Some of you may be thinking that taste of food is a personal preference, so food aside, they staff was great. Very helpful, down to the smallest detail. We had booked the top floor of the restaurant, and at first they were going to section off a part of the floor for their normal diners, but then decided to give us the whole flor instead. They went out of their way to order purple napkins for our wedding, since my wife chose pruple as her color. The staff was very helpful the whole night. Even with the organization of all the things that needed to be accomplished. We tried to save a few bucks by renting the seat covers and putting them on ourselves. The restaurant let us store them there until our wedding date, and even helped us put them on while we were setting up. They even gave us spare tables in case more people showed up than anticipated. If we did use them it would just be added to the bill, and if not we would not be charged. That was a big plus for us, because we all know how it is with people not RSVPing, or bringing a date that was not taken into account. So all in all, if you are deciding on a place to host your event. I would put this restaurant at the top of your list.

This whole scene reminds me of a place in Houston that we usually go for dim sum. The food was good. The service was nice and attentive. I can see this place being busy on weekends like the one in Houston. This is where my friend is having her reception and the manager was nice to go over some details about the floor plans and they had lots of pictures from past weddings so I was pretty happy knowing where I was going to have to set up the background for portraits.

Come here with my Asian friends and they know exactly what to pick. I just eat it and smile and eat some more. GAW! I love the shrimp dumplings and some noodle thing with gushy goodness inside. I don't recall the names at all. What I do recall is how GOOD the chinese broccoli is. I don't like chicken feet. Been there done that thanks to being Mexican. The tripe wasn't too bad. Only thing I can't get myself to like the little egg yolk pie looking thing. In my mind I'm expecting something sweet like lemon tarte. Damn visual sensory system! Oh yeah musnt forget: DO NOT COME HERE on the weekend let's say oooooh about 12 noon! You will wait a very long time for a table and a parking spot. Try and be an earlybird and arrive before/around 11:00.

Came here for some Dim Sum lunch today. The food here is ok, and it's on the pricier side. The quality and amount of food they give you is not comparable to the price. The portions are very small. Anyhow, the restaurant is very big and clean though, and service is pretty good and friendly for a Chinese Restaurant. It's easy to come here since it's so close to where I live, but I would prefer to go to Cupertino for Dim Sum. Overall, not bad, not great. Just ok.

this review is longggg overdue, but i just remembered about what lousy service i received not too long ago, so i decided i must tell the yelp world about this place. my best friend (stephanie t.) also wrote a similar review because we actually came here together for the same occasion. when i came here christmas morning, the place looked super crackin from what i remembered. the dim sum also actually tasted pretty good. i was glad to see that they had many, many customers, meaning the stuff they're serving must be fresh, and not some old left overs they had from the other day. all was dandy and well, except ONE MAJOR THING: rude waiters. my whole entire table had empty water glasses that needed to be filled. so tell me why this waiter, who was probably an owner or manager due to the difference in his outfit compared to the other waiters running around, decides to ignore my table's attempts to wave him down to have our glasses filled? all the other waiters were busy, and he was the only one who was constantly around us. however, everytime he walked past us, he avoided eye contact. even on several occasions when we spoke out to him loud enough for him to hear as hes passing RIGHT by us, he continues to ignore us. whats worst, he even put up his hand to us as if hes waving us off or something. then he had the nerve to go and fill the glasses of all the tables around us........ummm excuse me??? seriously, this guy must really not want a thriving business with returning customers at the rate he's acting. in the end, one of the nicer waiters, this bald guy, came to refill our glasses...about time! up until today, i still remember his obnoxious face, which makes me never want to return. he was a super tall guy who was half balding, if you guys happen to know who i'm talking about. too bad i didnt catch his name, or else i would've put it on here too. as if his service wasn't bad enough, he walked around with that kind of face and attitude? okay, i work in the food industry, and i know how it feels to be busting your ass while demanding customers get on your nerve. however, i also know better than to let it show, especially when presenting yourself to a restaurant filled with paying customers, and ESPECIALLY if youre a manager of some sort. who would want to be served by anyone like that? not me. one star only because i cant give any less.

This was my first dim sum experience in san jose. I used to go all the time back at home in sacramento. I was very excited. I took another friend who loves dim sum and then a newbie. We dove in a little too fast and ate too much but it was worth it. 39$ for three of us. 10 dishes. the pork buns are my best friend. It was hard at first but once we got into it we were getting plates left and right. Pork Pork Pork! I cannot wait to take my other friends and go back!

This restaurant is really nice and clean assuming the kitchen is the same. I've been here for my cousin's wedding and it was really nice. Food was okay, not the best. It's just like every other wedding dinner specials served during the party. Most of all, I only come here for the Dim Sum cause its cheap and it's convenient to go too. Service was good here, never really had a problem with the waiters here. Carts goes around pretty fast and has a good variety to choose from. And if they don't have it, you can request and they will personally hand you what you want right when they have it cooked. I never really got to eat here for dinner on the week day since there's always a wedding on the weekends. I'll give that a try one day and review on it other then that I do enjoy eating here for Dim Sum. +4 stars for being cheap and overall good Shu mai I've had than any other place.

I like to come here for dim sum, but it's not a good place for dinner. The food is just about at the "average" level. I can have a better quality food with cheaper price at other places. Service is not good, it's just the same as other Chinese restaurants. With all the fancy seatings, and prices, I would expect more on the service. I might come back here for dim sum, but not dinner.

FOOD: Dim sum = It's okay, a little lacking in taste, and food doesn't always come out hot SERVICE: They seem nicer and more attentive, they don't hella mug you if you don't order from their cart ATMOSPHERE: Large dining room, regular dim-sum atmosphere with the white table cloths, carpet flooring, dressed up wait staff...

I went to a ridiculously huge wedding banquet here. The entire second floor was closed off and every table was packed next to the other. The staff did a marvelous job with catering in such crazy conditions. The food came out promptly to the rest of us but they were a little slow in bringing out the vegan food for the ONE person at my table (there were probably only four people in the whole hundreds of people that needed vegan.) Just keep in mind that this wedding was quite large. 45 tables with 6-8 people per table. One of our table mates had to light a fire under the waiter to get him to show a little more attention to our vegan friend. They did take out time to put forks out for our non chop stick friends. They did run out and put out some diet sodas for us ABC girls. It was a tough challenge and they lived up to it. The food was otherwise wonderful. I especially loved the smoked sea bass. That was the highlight dish. The meat was buttery smooth and the flavour was sweet and savory. It was absolutely wonderful and I wish I wasn't so stuffed full so I can eat more of it. I had a good time.

I LOVE this place! The first time I came here, my Dad took me for dinner. Their steamed bass is one of my favorite things in life. Its so good but expensive. Something for special occasions. We then discovered they have reeaaalllyyy good dim sum! We usually get a plate of beef chow fun as well. The stuffed mushrooms in gravy is a must have dish. We also get these steam dumplings with shrimp and greens not sure of the name. The only pain is the parking and of course, service isnt exactly always friendly. The food is what keeps me coming back

A group of my friends and I met up here for dim sum on a Friday afternoon. We got there around 12:15 and the place was probably about half full. It was my first time going to this restaurant, and was really surprised by how large the facility was. They had partitioned off half of the restaurant just for the lunch/dim sum crowd, and by 12:30 the place was packed full of people. The dim sum was decent here, and the carts came around often which is nice. The selection is your normal fare, with nothing too memorable. Price was decent, it looked like we were super hungry that day, and paid $60 for four people (tax and tip included). Not a bad deal. This would have been a 3 star review, but it got a fourth star for the greatest sign I've ever seen. So, after lunch, I walked to the bathroom and there was a sign on the door to the hallway that read "open door slowly, minors behind". The image that popped up was little kids in the back assembling har gao and siu mai. Silly owners and their use of child labor. All joking aside, the sign would have been better made as "Open Door Slowly ... "

We always go here for dim sum pretty much once a week. Today, we celebrate our little brother birthday dinner here. We went with their Peking Duck Dinner Special and it turns out pretty good. For $88 we get a maw fish soup, two courses Peking Duck, one is steam bun with crispy skin and the meat is minced to eat with lettuce cup. We get to pick 5 main entrees, some cookies and red bean soup for dessert. The food came out nice and quick and delicious. There were 8 adult and the food is just enough. The only thing is steam rice charged separately. However we felt that it was a great deal. We will definitely come back for different occasion.

I find this place to be slightly better than average, but certainly not the best "yum cha" place in town. The outside decor is tastefully done, and the staircase leading up to the joint is a nice touch. The food is what you'd expect from this type of establishment. It's not spectacular, but still rather tasty. The prices are reasonable, about the same as you would pay at any other "dim sum" hall of similar size and scope. As for the cons, the parking is an absolute mess, and the clientele here is not exactly the most civilized to put it nicely. I thought this was supposed to be a Chinese restaurant. Why are there so many Vietnam people in there?! Unruly kids run rampant and people talk loudly, often cutting in line to grab food instead of waiting for the cart to arrive at their table. I prefer the Cupertino Vallco Mall location much more. The patrons are of an exponentially higher class (in terms of behavior, not neccesarily monetary), and although the outside is unassuming, once you step foot into the door, the interior design is sure to impress.

Decent dim sum in a really nice building w/ ornate decorations and utensils. Pretty pricey too. I prefer Grand Fortune dim sum yelp.com/biz/hIy0LegWKU3…

I find their food to be very consistent. Consistently average. The service is good and the people are friendly. I don't think that the prices are reasonable for the food that they serve. You can find other chinese restaurants that serve the same quality of food for cheaper prices. I think though that their seafood quality is very good. I love their smoked seabass and their salt and pepper crab. Again, price is too high.

I like to pronounce it as Die-Nasty. IT's good for weddings I suppose if you want to be old skool and have a wedding there. Other than that, it sucks. Dim Sum by vietnamese people in a vietnamese plaza...that's a fat sign that you shouldn't go there at all. It's Vietnamese people cooking chinese food. come on! Vietnamese people suck when it comes to restaurant business mainly because of their cutting corner mentality. I'm Vietnamese so I can say it. =]

This review is only for the dim sum. Went here with some friends. Didn't have to wait for a table. Service here was okay. I would suggest having a lot more carts. We had to wait awhile before someone would come. We ended up having to just order from the servers. The food was mediocre and bland. Also way over priced. It was also the first time we ever had to pay for refills for our tea! Don't think I will be coming here anytime soon.

On Sept 3, 2008 my family and I went here (Dynasty Chinese Seafood Restaurant in San Jose) for a family celebration. We're having a great lunch until the server delivered the seafood fried rice. My cousin was about to eat some when he found a ROACH on our fried rice. IT WAS DISGUSTING! Too bad I did not have a camera with me that day. I quickly told the old man (wearing a suit, maybe he's the manager) and the only thing he said is "okay i will inform the kitchen". He also asked if we want another one or just cancel the fried rice. We didn't order another fried rice and we lost our appetite. We are never ever going back to this restaurant. We give them trust to provide us clean and good food but I guess some of them just don't care!

Don't come here, unless it's for someone's wedding and you're not paying. My parents had a bad dinner experience, caused by bad service, who forgot about them, then finally took their order and the food was worst than mediocre - while paying premium price. ($10-18 per dish) I came here for dim sum during lunch - both weekdays and weekends. Weekday - not too many food karts and if so, the food on the karts are cold. You'll have order from the menu or kitchen. Weekend - the place was packed, everyone in SJ & their mamas was there. And the karts were everywhere, but disorganized. They either don't ever reach you or the same kart kept coming around every 5mins. The service was not attentive either. Felt rushed, as they need to turnover the tables for more guests. The food was average and small portion - the only thing that was big was my bill. The venue itself is nice, grand & lots of seating. You'll walk up a grand spiral staircase to get to the host, so it feels very upscale, but the food is not. Dynasty does have a good reputation, but just not the San Jose one. The one in Cupertino is better.

My Ratings: Quality of Food - 4 Stars Quantity of Food - 4 Stars Price - 4 Stars Location - 3 Stars Parking - 3 Stars Service - 3 Stars Speed - 2 Stars My Opinion/Story: Took my mother here today after she's been craving for dim sum for the last 5 months. Finally she was able to get the dish she's been craving for... chicken feet! Anyway, we got there today during their lunch hour but we were able to get seated right away. Then the guy waiting on our table just gives us what we want when we can't wait for the carts to come. He really made it easy for us to enjoy our food without waiting too long. The food is good and tasty. There's really not much you can ask for when it comes to dimsum. You pretty much make your own taste and with so many different dishes on your plate, you pretty much just end up mixing the flavors. So I'm fine with them. So I'll keep coming back here when we have cravings for dimsum.

*3.5 stars* The last time I came here was when they first opened, which was a number of years ago. Today, I came with 6 friends for their dim sum. It wasn't bad and I think we would have ordered more, but there wasn't a huge selection at 10:30 (they open at 10). Our bill, with tip, came out to be $13/pp. Are you kidding me? Super cheap. We left about an hour later and saw more scrumptious dishes coming out. Next time I'm in San Jose, I will stay longer!

Came here for dinner with a coupon for free Salt and Pepper Shrimp. The shrimp was good....nice and big, not too salty or peppery, but it was unpeeled shrimp and I had trouble eating the shell even though it was relatively soft from cooking. My fiance and I also got the Hot 'n Sour soup (really good), the House Special Crispy Fried Noodles (also really good), and a plate of Chinese Broccoli with Oyster Sauce (perfectly cooked). They gave us complimentary sesame and almond cookies after dinner along with a hot bean soup dessert. I deducted a star from last time because we had them pack up our leftovers and I noticed this morning that they forgot to pack the Chinese Broccoli. I was looking forward to having it with the rest of my leftovers for lunch, so I am disappointed. Double check to make sure they pack up all your leftovers before you leave the restaurant.

If you can get past the insane parking and people, this is one of the better dim sum restaurants in the south bay . I was here for my aunt's bday and they got 20+ people onto 2 huge tables. In addition to the dim sum, my cousin decided he wanted banquet dining for the party, so each table got another 8-9 entrees. We had: Lobster with ginger and scallions Scallops with roaster garlic Peking Duck House Special Fried Rice Stir Fried Beef in black bean Sauce and a few others I couldn't remember because it was just an insane amount of food. The variety of the dishes and flavors are remiscent of a lot of the Cantonese/.Vietnamese restaurants down in the Garden Grove/Westminster area in Orange County. They recently opened a branch in Cupertino, which is not nearly as good. They seem like completely different restaurants. I'd say I'll drive an extra 10 miles to get to this one and get my rare Cantonese fix.

"Dying of Nastiness!" They have a great name I've give them that, but the food isn't all that great. All there dim sum that had doe in it was nasty... A bit too soggy for my liking. But oh, the CHICKEN FEET! Yes how I love there chicken feet! But this place wasn't all that great because the pricing was a bit high and the food wasn't that great. I only really liked the chicked feet here. There are

WHOO HOO! I just had my wedding there, and needless to say, I was VERY HAPPY with the service. I couldn't believe it honestly, since I have heard horror stories through the grapevines about how horrible the service is. James, the manager there, was nothing but nice. He catered to all my requests and more! The food, well, it's a Chinese Seafood Restaurant, so it's typical dishes. I did not get to eat much of the food but I heard from my guests that it was pretty good. =)

COCKROACH IS ALL I HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THIS PLACE!!! Came with a big group that were frequent patrons of this place until now. Finished off what we first thought was a filly lunch until the last order of pork buns came out and one of my friends had huge COCKROACH!!!!! underneath the paper. We got up and were about to leave we refused to pay especally after we complained and all they did was try to comp the fried rice on our order. The CHEAPEST thing on our bill. The waiter begged that we pay, the place is probably so shady they will charge the waiter for the food because we were not going to pay. It took 3 different managers until the man in the back office told them to let us go. I am never going back here again and its sad because it seemed like a good place to go for Dim Sum but BUGS ARE BUGS... We did try to offer the waiter $50 as a tip since it was not his fault we received a COCKROACH, he refused and would not take the tip. We basically forced him to take it. I hope he actually kept it and didn't give it to his manager which I think he probably did after we left.

Dim sum at Dynasty is probably at best average. Once again, another place located in the South Bay for people who don't want to drive to Milpitas or Cupertino in order to satisfy that dim sum craving. Most recently I came here with my mom on Monday at around 1-2pm. The large spacious restaurant was not very crowded but that's probably because it was past the busy lunch hour. We were seated promptly and carts immediately came our way. We didn't order that many dishes (probably less than what we normally order) and the total bill was still more than $10 per person! So for the quality/portion I thought the restaurant was quite pricey. Although the regular dim sum was ok, the cha siew pao (steamed pork bun) was not very good- a dish many in my family uses to rate the standard of dim sum restaurants.

Pros: large venue Cons: the food; the staff; the smell; the parking; the service; the space per person required to comfortably eat one's food; the depression of appetite just being here The name says it all: (Dy)nasty! I pretty much sum it all up in my cons. The fact that this place has a lot of space ain't doin much for the cause because they fit a gazillion people to one freaking table and expect no one to move their arms. Maybe we'll just all be cats and slurp from our dish. Food = yuck. I do not want to come back here.

Came here for dim sum and had the... Sui mai, which wasnt great at all; the texture was real hard and chewy. Chickens' feet seasoning tasted like it was missing something. The only best thing to me was the congee, it wasn't too salty and wasn't too bland those three items listed are probably one of the most popular dish for me when i go to eat dim sum; i was pretty disappointed when I had it after hearing how expensive and great this place was. I'm quiet sure they have other dishes that are great but I only came here for the dim sum.

We attended a wedding banquet here two weekends ago. It was one of 4 or 5 going on that night, so there was a lot of noise from the party in the next "room" separated from us by only a divider. The food was really good. I don't have high expectations when it comes to Chinese banquet food, but it was prepared well and I kept telling myself to slow down because there were more dishes coming out. Jellyfish, shrimp puffs, Peking duck, fried rice (very tasty, not that greasy), shark fin soup (good stuff, had bits of crab meat in it), lobster (this was the best dish - it was tender, juicy, with just the right amount of garlic sauce), scallops in a ginger veggie stir fry, greens with black mushroom and abalone, and a few other dishes I can't remember. Overall we left the party full and nodding our heads in agreement that the food was pretty good. We would go back and try it out for dim sum if we were back in the area in the future. The service was good, parking was easy, and the bathrooms were clean.

This restaurant has some terrific dim sum dishes at super cheap prices. Last weekend, we had a party of 8 people, ate dim sum till we all had buddha-bellies, and ended up paying only like $10/each (including tax & tip)...that's just freakin' awesome. They also have a nice variety of pork buns, veggies, and desserts to go with the dim sum. This place also doubles as a regular venue for asian wedding receptions in San Jose (I've been to 5 weddings at this restaurant). Last wedding I went to here was my cousin's wedding (350+ guests ...OMG) The wedding menus are pretty consistent w/ most other asian restaurants: rice plates, an assortment of chicken, pork, beef, seafood, and veggie dishes. Oh yea, and every table (even the kids' tables sometimes) has a couple bottles of Remy Martin...wtf is up w/ every asian wedding stocked w/ remy martin anyways...that stuff tastes disgustingly terrible...but i digress...anyhoo, so yea back to my initial point. So in summary, this place is great for dim sum, and/or if you're looking for a venue for you upcoming wedding (asian-themed)...or you could try to crash weddings here...not sure how successful you could be w/ that (be prepared for some hurtin' if/when you're caught).

I love their food at weddings! But I also come here for dinner. We love their smoked sea bass (to die for), whole lobster (good!), salt & pepper crab (delicious!), crab w/ scallions & ginger (good but not the best), hot & sour soup (good) and many more. Service is quick but the only strange part is that you'll see a group of waiters eyeing you while you eat; I guess that makes them react faster. Overall, great place for seafood at reasonable prices!

The food isn't well prepared. I was at a friend's wedding and woke up the next morning with food poisoning. I threw up. Plus i wasn't the only one but another friend of mine. My father even got a urine infection from using the restroom. These Chinese restaurants gotta learn how to upkeep and their place.

you want DIM SUM???? GO HERE!!!! located at that one ASIAN mall that I always forget the name of in the heart of little Saigon out in the EASSYDE of San Jose where even though you IN DA HOOD IT"S STILL ALL GOOD!!!! i go here alot with my homie and his family. This place is HUGE. it got high ceilings, it;s clean, roomy(so there's always a place to sit), plenty of asians everywhere(NOTE: if an ethnic restaurant's patrons DO NOT have a high majority of their own ethnicity eating there then the place in NO GOOD!) Dynasty always has a cart comin by you with hot yummy goodness for you to consume. The environment is loud with plenty of converstions, laughter, dishes clanging....ALL GOOD! Their staff does a good job of getting you what you need...napkins, extra utencils....they FILL your water each time it gets just below the halfway point of the glass(which tells you someone's watching). The food here is absolutely YUMMS! I don't know what half these dishes are even called but the SHIT IS GOOD! on;y thing that DOES erk me is when that one cart comes by with the steamed CHICKEN FEET!!! oh hell to the no! negative ghost rider on the chicken claw with the toenails, and the detailed ridges and the fact that it's FEET!....OF A CHICKEN!!! looks crazy eating. in closing.... loooove this place, can't ever go wrong eating here so come through!

I love this place! But I don't eat seafood... or duck... Actually I don't eat anything besides the fried noodles and pork buns. But I like the fried noodles and pork buns! You can't get the fried noodles and pork buns on the weekdays... and sometimes they run out if you go on weekend afternoons. The reason I didn't give it 4 stars, is because I can't stand looking at the dead decaying fish laying upside down in the "fresh fish acquariums". Seriously - who wants to eat while looking at that? Ugh.

I won't waste your time, my recent experience was EXCELLENT. My brother invited us for dim sum a few weeks ago and were deep with 4 adults and 4 children (ages 5 months, 2,3 & 6) . We arrived at peak lunch time on a Saturday and there was plenty of seating because the second level is very spacious. The service was great, we were seated and served tea immediately. Next thing I know we're already making selections from a cart. We had plenty of opportunity to choose everything we desired from the rotation: Shu Mai Har Gow Turnip Cake Stuffed Mushrooms Fried Tofu Shrimp Balls BBQ Pork Buns Gai Lan I thought the food was well prepared and as good as it gets. The kids ate everything up, which is an indication of how agreeable it really is. My sister in-law mentioned that prices were not bad too! Kudos to Dynasty, my family and I will return for more.

This place is awesome. I went online and looked up the closes place near my house that served dim sum. My dad and I tried it together for the first time today for his birthday and we loved it! It was lunch time during the week, so it wasn't very busy. As soon as we sat down the ladies were at our table trying to serve us dim sum off the carts. I would recommend it.

I'm sure there is better dim sum out there. This place used to be super decent to go for family brunches and everything, but the menu has tweaked and it changed for the worse. I'm absolutely sure there are way more foods you can steam rather than fry. What worries me is what oil is used to fry these foods! Service is inconsistent. You're seated quickly but have to wait for the rest of the service. Place gets pretty packed around brunch because everyone's clamoring for the dim sum. Menus aren't given to you, so you have no idea what is served unless you start gawking at a nearby cart that is being pushed past your table. If you want your food, signal and let the waiters know what you want. This reminds me of flagging down taxis at a busy street. If you request for simply more plates, utensils, napkins, etc., you're not going to get them right away unless you flag down two different waiters. The plus about the service is that empty plates will be taken away quickly after customers are done. Cleaning as you go, better than stacks of dirty dishes everywhere. The atmosphere is mostly noisy and crowded. Don't go here for a date, you're not going to get privacy, you'll most likely be yelling at your significant other for a conversation. The place seems ideal for a banquet though, the food is good, it just needs to stop frying so much of their dim sum delicacies. I've had other lunch items such as noodles or rice plates, they're not so bad. But as for the dim sum, expect oily foods.

Gonna review based on Dinner Menus and the Dim Sum: -Asian weddings usually happens around here because it's fucking cheap, well not cheap but reasonable price. Wedding selections give you what I like to call the "Asian Wedding Entrees", Shark Fin Soup, those crispy crab/lobster balls, fried rice etc. Overall It's what you expect from a typical chinese resturant. -Now for Dim Sum however, this is an average place to order it. I love the selections they have here from the Har Gow to Shu Mai and other delights. It's been a while since I've been here to Dim Sum but my experience here was ok.

Dynasty is like the "default" dim sum location for most people in the South Bay. It's not great, but it's not horrible either. I think everyone comes back to this place because they accommodate small/large groups, it's in a decent location that's convenient for everyone to meet up, and the prices are okay. If you get there early, they won't have all the good stuff on the carts. You'll have to order what you want from the server. The restaurant will be packed if you get there after 11 PM on the weekend, but they usually seat you right away. The longest I've waited was 15 minutes for a table for 4. The food's okay... I don't really have much to say there. I'm filipino. I eat all food with MSG, no question. I CAN tell you about service, though: You have to be a bit aggressive to get the items you want. Getting food might translate into hailing down a cart by waving your arms wildly in the air or even walking up to the carts yourself. The sucky service also applies when you want a refill on your tea/water or if you want to order a soda. I've had one or two attentive busboys (not servers) help out with some requests, but that's still lame. If you're looking for good dim sum, good service and average prices. I would hop over to De Anza Boulevard and try Loon Wah. =)

Dynasty was really popular for a while, but its been a while since I've gone back, aside from the occasional wedding banquet I probably wouldn't come here if it were up to me. First off, the head manager guy here is GRUMPY. I know cantonese restaurants have the reputation of being a bit nicer to fellow speakers, but in this case there was no advantage. So while the food may be "A-Ok" I'd rather eat somewhere else, customer service is part of the experience so the lack of customer service takes away at least one star. I came here for dinner with family after Thanksgiving, worried that some Black Friday shoppers may take a break for some dimsum, I got there when they first opened to hold down a table. Turns out it wasn't really an issue so I felt a bit silly sitting at a big table by myself until the rest of the fam arrived. When I was asked about what tea I would like I said that I'd wait until everyone was here since I wasn't sure what people's preferences were. However, I did ask for a glass of water without ice for my grandmother-in-law and was given the impression that this was the most inconvenient ridiculous request he had ever heard and had it delivered with a bunch of attitude. The rest of the fam arrived and asked for the tea - Mr. Grumpy told them, "well, I asked but she said you didn't want any" excuse me? I said that we'd wait, not that I didn't want any. Please. Anyways, he pretty much looked grumpy and had attitude the whole time to everyone. Maybe he wanted to go Black Friday shopping too and was bitter that he had to work and miss out on the flat screen TV he wanted. The Cupertino location is slightly better, but questionable in terms of cleanliness. I remember witnessing something that I'm SURE was some sort of health code violation and have been in the habit of washing my chopsticks when we sit down ever since. They had a poster on one of the side walls that was falling off, so they took the chopsticks on the table and used that to smooth/stick it back on the wall and the placed the chopsticks BACK ON THE TABLE! gross.

This chic, beautifully decorated restaurant is a dim sum lover's place to be. Even on a busy Saturday around lunchtime, we were still able to be seated fairly quickly, and coincidentally at the same table as last time. Fresh dim sum displayed on various carts makes it all the more tempting to keep ordering to your tummy's content - all you have to do is point at the dish you want and they stamp the card for you! They have everything from the more typical potstickers and shrimp dumpling to seaweed&some yellow jelly-like substance, guaranteed to make you smile ;)

Dependable, authentic and good chinese food. I come here for dim sum a lot and it's pretty good. Never really had a complain excet when they first opened--I got some semi-frozen cold dim sum served. They get busy on the weekends but it's a big restaurant so the wait usually isnt horrendous. Great place to have dinner as well. It's pricier than typical mom and pops chinese restaurant but well-worth it. The restaurant looks clean and service is acceptable; normally everyone is friendly enough which says a lot for Chinese restaurants. I also met one of the owners of Dynasty at his Jewelry store in Cupertino...he's very personable...asked me to consider Dynasty for my wedding banquet...unfortunately the date I wanted was booked so I had to book it elsewhere. Otherwise, this one or the Dynasty in Cupertino would be one of my top choices.

Came for an Anniversary and my High School Graduation dinner. Both times, I felt as if I should have just gone to eat at East Lake. (I'm a big East Lake fan) Anyways, it's just a typical Chinese Restaurant. Nothing to rave about. Their food is okay. It such a turn off that the food is a lot pricier then other Chinese restaurants. Servers are typical. The restaurant itself looks really nice. I think it serves better as a party place. Meaning that, having a reception here after a wedding, or if you have a lot of people in your party, they can accommodate you here a lot better than any other Chinese restaurant. All in all, its an okay place I still haven't gone back and I don't really plan to.

Cool. I give points to a restaurant that has a clean dining area and efficient team working. The food however are par - siu mai is ok, har gow was a bit over done, the turnip cake was tasty (and cut in half, yaay!), congee was great, and the rest was so so. I felt bad b/c the ladies working the carts are all on commissions, so when I see the same lady doing the same lap and having no takers, I just wanted to order just so they can make money! For a great time to come here, arrive around 11, b/c that'swhen most things start coming out. Four people w/ tea and water, plus 6 misc dishes - 37! not bad! But then again, not great as well. I am so freakin dim sumed out!

This review is for their dim sum only. Came here at 12:30pm on Wednesday. A friend and I went here yesterday since we were craving dim sum. And this place sucked! I can't really phrase it in any other way. The shrimp with the rice noodle was way over-cooked. The fried shrimp stuffed bell pepper and eggplant dish had a really thick, clumpy room temp sauce over it, which I had to force myself to eat since I didn't want to waste it. The shrimp dumpling was over-cooked which made the wrapping a little mushy and the shrimp tough. The pork dumpling was warm and too chewy. And that's it. We only had 4 dim sum dishes. I have never eaten so little for dim sum. This place also did not have much variety. I saw the same 4 carts with the same stuff over and over. I guess they slim down the selection for the weekdays. They should not serve dim sum if they are not going to give their best. It just gives their restaurant a bad reputation.

Came here sometimes for dim sum. Wait doesn't take very long, even if you have a 10 people party, it takes about 10 minutes or so. Food is decent. Not too good, not too bad. Service is sometimes annoying because they would forget to bring you the stuff you asked for.

I think I've been to this particular Dynasty over ten times now. Somehow, my relatives believe this is the best place to go for Chinese food when we have our family gatherings. Well, methinks NOT. Let me try to keep this polite... Mediocre dim-sum at best: the options are sparse, the flavors are dull and insipid, or far too salty in a bad way, and things like xiao-long bao (little dragon buns: the potsticker-like things that are supposed to be filled with a savory broth) are completely desiccated. I've had better. This is not that authentic; they definitely skimp on the effort and the poor quality shows. Way overpriced dinner: other than their soup-in-squash-gourd, I don't think there's anything special here. Everything is disgustingly expensive for what you can get at so many other Chinese restaurants nearby. So what's the point?! Finally, the service is ATROCIOUS! I know Chinese restaurants aren't generally renown for their excellent treatment of customers, but COME ON. The first time I tried this place, we had to wait 40 extra minutes because they gave our table away to some other party. All 16 of us had to stand around awkwardly waiting; they didn't even offer my 90-year old grandmother a chair to sit in. Another time I went, they "ran out" of our expensive soup-in-a-gourd dish, despite the fact that we ordered in advance when we made the reservation a week ago, and we reminded them when we called back two days before going in when we added one to our reservation. Finally, their dim-sum service (which I have experienced on three separate occasions) goes something like this: I ask for steamed buns (something that should be offered on the regular carts); they say they'll bring it; I ask again 20 minutes later; they say its on the way out; 20 more minutes pass and I express some of my impatience by politely inquiring about my steamed buns again; the waiter ignores me; I ask another waiter and this one ROLLS HIS EYES at me and says "didn't the last guy tell you they were on the way out?" EXCUSE ME?! waiting 40 minutes for steamed buns is ridiculous; having a horrible and rude waiter give me attitude about this restaurant's ineptitude.... that is something else entirely. And during this whole time, I'm eating your barely adequate food which is costing me a barely decent amount of money, while you also ignore my requests for tea or just water. Moreover, this has happened to my other friends when they've gone here as well, so it's definitely not some kind of personal vendetta, especially considering you don't even know me. SO...by the time the buns come out, I don't effing want them anymore, now do I? Come here for a large, but gaudy venue with noisy surroundings, very bleh food (I know, it was the best adjective I could think of), and the worst service I've experienced. Bad parking, especially if you have elderly people in your dining party. Oh, and it's sister restaurant in San Jose isn't all that much better. Verdict: ICK. Stay away.

Kind of like the Chinese Krung Thai to me as in I expected the food to be a lot better since everyone and their mom has told me how good it is! The Dim Sum is okay....... the chung fun is semi bland, the shu mai could be better and last time I went they didn't have the deep fried crispy shrimp balls(my favorite). The Dinner is good though. Everything I had for dinner was awesome. All the seafood dishes are full of flavor. I especially like the roast duck dish and their Mongolian beef dish was pretty good too. I usually take my family here when they visit for dinner but never for dim sum. Service is awesome here. I would of given this place 3.5 stars if I could.

Actually a 3.5... Good dim sum, I don't know many places in the SouthBay that serve it, so I give this a 3. Compared to the regular spots I resort to in SF, this one is almost there as far as taste/quality. I do like their fried shrimp dumpling, with a side of their honey mayo, its just like having the good ol' honey walnut shrimp. Maybe it was the time we came that one Sunday, but the carts were slowing down and the choices were getting slim. Went here with family, so I can't really say much about the price...thank you, parents, for feeding us kids. Just a warning to those who decide to go here for the first time, especially if you're non-asian or someone who's very conservative on what they want to smell, beware of the pungent aroma of herbal medicine or whatever it is that attacked my olfactory nerves, but man, that was sumn strong (there's a drugstore beneath the restaurant) - right when my brother and i walked in the door, the smell literally made us gag and want to throw up a little bit. But no worries, once you make it upstairs, you'll be ok.

3.5 for Dynasty. Hmm...I dunno. Its hard to give dim sum spots outside of the city more than 3 stars. I haven't been wowed by any dim sum place out here in the south bay and Dynasty hasn't changed that. Decent dim sum in the heart of Viet town. This place is huge. I'm sure they cater to asian wedding receptions every weekend. Carts come by pretty often and service is not bad, I'll give em that. We went on a weekday during lunch, but I've heard this parking lot is a nightmare on the weekends. Beware of psycho asian ladies driving their Mercs! haha

This restaurant knows how to cater to its clientele. Everytime my husband and I walk in, we have 2-3 waiters hovering around us catering to our needs. Great dim sum, dumplings, bbq fried rice make this place excellent.

Been coming here for years, since I was 10 and this was the best dim sum on the eastside. Its a family favorite for dim sum but I wish they had more of a larger variety of things to choose from, overall its great food, fast moving service. Not too bad, its also a great place to throw your wedding dinners, I know since i was a brides maid quite a few times.

Nice place and great Dim Sum. In fact, at least for me, it's the best dim sum in San Jose. I wish they have longer lunch hours.

Just had my wedding reception here and I must say I am happy. The guest enjoyed the food. In between course wasnt long. They made sure everyone was happy. I forgot my sign in book and they ran to get me one. So over all, I have no regrets.

I went here a few months ago for a family get together. Great service and delicious food with very little wait on a Sunday morning (shocking!)...would definitely return.

Food - 3.5 Service - 3 (inconsistent) Ambience - 3.5 While not the best dim sum by any stretch of the imagination, I am a sucker for large, banquet-style Chinese restaurants when it comes to dim sum. Brings back all those childhood memories of Saturday morning outings with my parents in Chinatown (LA). Would agree with others that the dim sum at Dynasty is over-priced, but I would have to say that I've always enjoyed my dining experience here. The food is good, but the service is average. Sometimes you get someone who is willing to chase down certain items for you and sometimes, you get the guy who basically tells you to settle down and wait for a cart. It's a nice place to bring folks from out of town as it's pretty impressive restaurant in terms of size and decor. Would give them 3.5 stars, but had to downgrade to 3 stars (ignore the fact that I can't actually give half stars) for not accepting Amex.

my family and i came here on a Saturday for dim sum, it was busy and we were ready to get our grub on. After three trays of har gow and shumai, we decided to order a couple more since we weren't full yet. After eating the har gow from the tray, my sister grabs it to grab one of her own, unfortunately she looked down and saw a dead cockroach under the piece i had just taken. yuck. i wanted to throw up. we grabbed a manager, they actually tried to bring us some tofu soup to say sorry, on the house of course. we told them no thanks and asks to leave. They actually tried to make us pay. hahah can you believe it. We told them we were not going to and ended up walking out of the restaurant. Gross! We will never eat here again.

My sister had her wedding there and they not only lost the cake dish, it seemed like they scammed my sister in paying for rental chair covers trice. The groom took care of the bill balance that day and the assistant mgr gave him another bill for the chair rental place which my sister already paid in full before. The groom not knowing the details went ahead and paid for it again. The general manager job was to take care of the dynasty bill not try to help a chair cover rental down the street to potentially scam customer to have them double pay. My sister then called the chair rental place after finding out that night what have happened and the lady said she didn't remember if my sister paid or not so my sister asked her if she ever did seat covers before being paid in full, and of course no. So shady! She apologized and of course just happened to still be at her shop midnight that day and refunded my sister money. Beware people, if you are getting married here and renting seat covers from the place down the street, make sure they don't pull the same thing on you. I had my wedding there last year and the due balance amount was a few hundred more than the agree balance, so now I'm wondering if they pulled the same thing on us.

Even though it's a bit of a drive from work to get here but definitely worth it. This Dynasty Seafood offers really flavorful and delicious dim sum. I even went for dishes which I haven't eaten in a long time such as chicken feet and tripe. I thought their seasonings were spot-on! When comes to flavor, this Dynasty outshines the one in Cupertino!

Just your average, typical Chinese restaurant, nothing extraordinary, nothing terrible, either. What I like most about this restaurant is the dim sum. Although not spectacular, it satisfies the craving well enough. The restaurant space is large, so even when you go on weekends, there isn't usually a wait. If there ever is, it's only about 15 minutes max. You got dim sum carts being pushed around and the carts that aren't steel or made to transport the steamed items can't guarantee that those items will be hot when you get them. They offer most all of the dishes you'd expect to get for dim sum and the prices are average, with the portions being average as well. Overall, I'm satisfied with what I get every time I come due to their consistency. In cause anyone wanted to know, for dim sum, I always get the braised chicken feet, har gow (steamed shrimp dumplings), siu mai, wu gok (fried taro dumplings), cheong fan (rolled rice noodles with shrimp filling), ginger scallion tripe, and gai lan (chinese broccoli). Dinner and menu items outside of dim sum are relatively good, as well. Nothing I can complain about specifically and nothing I can rave about either. The staff can be rude and dismissive, but I personally find that in most authentic, "fob" Chinese speaking establishments anyway. I guess they just find efficiency more of a priority than manners, but it all works out in the end. If you don't speak either Mandarin, Cantonese, or even Vietnamese, there is a high chance that there will be a language barrier and you might not get served what you want to your satisfaction. As I've mentioned before, the restaurant space is large. They've got that tryna-be-fancy vibe all around, like most typical Chinese restaurants, with crystal chandeliers and staff dressed like penguins, although not as sharp. What I dislike the most are the bins of dirty dishes lying around for their convenience in cleaning up. Most weekends, you'll see sections of the restaurant being prepared for some wedding reception or other. Trust me, Asians in this area love their Chinese dinner wedding receptions and there almost ALWAYS is one on the weekends. So to sum it all up, although Dynasty isn't the most impressive on any account, they can satisfy a Chinese craving just fine. It's not my favorite place but I will definitely be back for my dim sum fix.

Brought out-of-town visitors here for lunch. We grabbed a handful of dishes, and they were all cold! The best dish was actually the "pineapple bun" cuz they were soft with a smooth and creamy filling. Twas about 1:00p or so, the place wasn't necessarily crowded, but full enough with people. You'd think that there was enough movement in the food to where they could churn out something fresh, but NO. I can't stand taking people to a place, that I've been to previously, that is sub-par. It's like losing face. Never again will I come here.

Dim sum is improving and I noticed the service has improved a notch. Seafood is still fresh, but avoid weekends if you don't want to hear the loud music from all the wedding banquets. Try the crab and fresh fish.

Dim Sum was okay it's average compared to other places. My favorite dish was the chao (rice porridge). The woman pushing the cart was very sweet, kind and funny. The chao was delicious and hot. Cooked perfectly. Most of the people here don't speak much English so it was really hard trying to ask for booster seats for the kids. I had to ask about 3 different people. The guy who helped us the most I think is Mexican with a couple of tattoos on his arm was very patient and helpful. He constantly checked on our table and provided great customer service. Besides that the wait wasn't long. A table of 6 was immediately seated. Also this place is huge!!! They also have rooms in the back for private parties. But to get in here you have to go up a huge flight of stairs and if you have an infant you will find it rather difficult with a stroller.

Better Dim Sum than Mayflower, but can't expect much from an Asian Restaurant when it comes to customer service. Came here on a Friday and their selection seemed very small so we didn't order much Dim Sum, I recommend coming on weekends. Pain fried noodles were tasty! I liked the noodles, but the beef sort of tasted off. The pork buns here are great! Sweet and filled with with flavor. Xu Mai is typical and pretty much the same as anywhere else.

Dim sum here is small compared to other places. They messed up our bill and charged us $20 for a dish when the dish was $11.80.... Trust me, portions here are so small. Avoid this crap hole place.

I like dimsum because they have several foods on tray for you to choose. You don't need to know the name , you just look at the food. If it look good, you take it.

This is my family's go-to spot for our dim sum cravings. They never disappoint- food wise. We come here for the grub, not for the service. Typical Asian customer service: they seat you, feed you, and then hope to rush you out in order to fit in people who are standing around waiting to be seated. Minus one star because during a previous visit we left unhappy and didn't give them the big tip that they had anticipated.... so they flagged us down!! WTF?? They must have had me confused with someone who really cared.....

  • Brian L.

The reason for my low review is for their service and customer care. I came here with the family to celebrate Mother's Day. Food was good and everything went good up until we paid the bill. They overcharged us for a dish we did not eat. However instead of fixing the mistake, they argued with us about how their computer system works and how this was the price of the dish we ordered. Very poor customer service. We had to get the manager involved just to resolve a simple mistake! Definitely not coming back after this. The bill error and frustrating staff did not make for a pleasant time.

My family and I were here for some dim sum on Christmas Day. The wait was horrendous, and the seating system was disorganized and chaotic. All the larger round tables kept filling with smaller parties, so any parties with 10+ people had to wait a VERY long time to be seated. Once we were seated, NO dim sum carts came over to us because the dining room was a mess. I saw diners literally walk up to the dim sum carts as they were being pushed out from the kitchen and line up to get food themselves with ticket in hand. What kind of a traditional dim sum experience is that?! To top it off, the food wasn't great. Borderline edible. I honestly have had better dim sum elsewhere in this city. Their portions are very small and fairly pricey. Seasoning was off; service was off; selection was limited. What else could have gone wrong, you ask? Let's throw in the fact that the cashier who charged my credit card automatically wrote the tip and final total on my receipt and just left the signature line blank for me to sign. WHAT. I'm pretty sure what she did was illegal, as tip according to California law is now optional even for a large party. With the service they gave us (or had rather NOT given us and forced us to walk up to the carts for our own food), they don't deserve any tip. Be careful when looking at your bill here. Parking is likewise chaotic, as they awkwardly share a private lot with Grand Century Mall and Viet Nam Town. Needless to say, Dy-NASTY will never receive my business ever again, not when there are so many other great places in San Jose for dim sum.

I was bummed to hear that ABC restaurant closed down in Ranch 99 plaza a while back but my buddy Toan took me here the other day and it was like deja vous. It really reminded me of ABC. The main difference I noticed is that this place has a lighter decor with alot of white so the wait staff wearing dark colors really stand out. The food was about the same quality as ABC. Service was pretty good with dim sum rolling around every couple minutes at lunch time. The restaurant was about 2/3rds full which is always a good sign. The BBQ pork buns were cold though and that bummed me out a bit because they were tasty, just cold... It's hard to say when I'll be back because this is in Vietnam town and there is so much good food in that area but it's good to know that this place is here. Give them a shot!

I'm not too much of a dim sum person, but it seems like a lot of Asians are! I've been there twice recently -- both times on Sunday -- and that place gets PACKED. First time I went, it was with a large group. Second time, it was just me and my mom. Why is this information important? Because most tables there are meant for larger parties (4+), and if you have less, they kind of seat you in areas that aren't optimal. When it was the two of us, we got seated near the stairway, at the very front of the restaurant. It took forever for the dim sum carts to get to us. And sometimes, all the good stuff is gone by the time the cart gets to us. At one point, my mom had to ask the servers if they had this or that, and they had to personally go get it. To be honest, the food wasn't anything spectacular. The customer service was what made it a pleasant experience. And it's located near a nice shopping center.

There's one male server who I always get when I come for family dinner on weekday nights... absolutely love him! He's always smiling and super bubbly, not to mention incredibly helpful and efficient in what he does! Definitely makes large party family dinners more manageable and less stressful. They have a few different family dinner options, including one where you choose a certain number of items from the menu. I can't remember which options we usually go for, but here are some of my favorite menu items: - Shark fin, crab, & egg soup -- Standard, but a must. Sometimes it can be a little bland, but you can just add soy sauce (or ponzu if you're at home) and it'll become amaaaazing. - Roasted duck skin with sweet bao shells -- Love the perfect crisp of the duck and the fairly thin bao shells. I like that they're not too doughy. Surprisingly, the duck isn't too oily and I don't feel too guilty eating it. Don't forget the onion slices! - Almond cookies at the end! So much better than the puddings or dessert soups they have. I need to come try their dim sum one of these days!

People should not come here. This restaurant really sucks. The service is bad. Food is greesy. And they charged us $66 for 2 persons dim sum. Stay away from this Chinese place. I wish I could give 0 star.

I enjoyed the food along with family and friends. I don't get y there r such bad reviews from this place. The service ws more than expected for a mother's day lunch with no reservations. It took them 30 minutes to seat us with 50 parties ahead of us. Soooo I can't complain. My mother in law was happy with lunch and we all enjoyed our meal. So stuffed and got all the food we asked for. The manager even made a special order when they ran our of what we were looking for.

Most likely will never come back.... Customer Service: needs IMPROVEMENT! My friend & I asked for more sauce and the waitress said she can't give us more. My friend kept asking and we got more but her sweet&sour sauce became red liquid. Different waitress & waiter kept clearing our table, which is nice but they didn't ask us if we were finished or not. Food: was okay. I guess I can give food a 2 star.

I like the food, but there some sanitary problem. Long time ago, we found bug in our dish one time and we were not very happy. Next visit that my plate were not clean very well. Came here for after a funeral service. Huge banquet areas, and lots of good seafood that came after one another. Service was typical Asian service, not very good. I'm not a huge seafood person, so the only thing I really enjoyed were the honey walnut prawns unfortunately. I prefer the Cupertino location much better.

BEWARE!!! Business has a tendency to overcharge. Double chk your receipts cause I'm sure they've gotten away with this shady practice for years. Ordered 9 dishes, but was charged for 13. Food is ok.

Came here for a wedding banquet. They 10 course menu was impressive - heavy on sea food. But most of the dishes are too greasy. The oil/grease masks the flavour, etc. Even the seafood fried rice dish was too greasy - it was also very bland like all the other dishes. No spices - the dishes are very bland. This experience is consistent with the banquet experience at the Cupertino Dynasty location a few years ago - impressive menu - but due to oil/grease coating not very satisfying. Ramesh

I came here for dimsum on Saturday because we had a few out of town friends visiting. They were from the midwest and never heard of dimsum. Yes they are not asian. Anyways, we had a great time there. Food was good and atmosphere was relaxed. I was able to eat and catch up with my friends while we were there for 90 minutes. The staff was friendly and they could see when we were done eating and left us alone. I will definitely take future out of town guests here for dimsum.

Came here for dinner with my family on a weeknight. Before I go any further, I want to point out that this place has NO RELATION to the Dynasty in Cupertino. We actually asked the manager to clarify. At first, I thought they might be related as both the English and Chinese names were identical, but then my Mom noted that the Chinese name, while pronounced the same, was written slightly differently. This Dynasty is close to where I live, so I was really wanting to like it to save the drives we take to Cupertino and Milpitas for Chinese food. Alas, the food really fell short of my expectations. The part that bummed me the most was ordering "fish done 2 ways", having the wait staff tell me the fish they caught for me was 3 lbs, and then getting dishes that were closer to about 1.5 or maybe 2 lbs, at most. We got a lot of bones, but the quantity of fish fillets was meagre, and not well stir fried at all -- the meat was falling apart, which is not the sign of a healthy live fish... or maybe the chef was having a really bad night. At $18 a pound for the fish, we definitely got ripped off. We also ordered stir fried vegetables with chicken, which was really unevenly cooked! Some of the sugar snap peas were still raw! Thankfully, the chicken was cooked through. I'll give this place a star for making a nice deep fried egg-yolk coated pumpkin dish. But then again, who can screw up fried food? Overall, we won't be headed back to Dynasty. I'll stick to the one in Cupertino for dinner service.

I've eaten here many times with my family, and I usually like the dim sum, though the service has always been what you would expect from a dim sum restaurant, so not great. Yesterday, while chewing a piece of deep fried taro dumpling, I bit on a piece of solid rock. It was oval in shape more than half an inch long, maybe a little bigger than a large pistachio. I waived down one of the head waiters in a black suit, and told him what just happened. He ran off with the piece of rock, and had someone take the rest of the dish away, but his solution was to bring me a new dish of the same item (comped). I don't think he spoke English, so there was no apology or any other follow up as far as I could tell. Needless to say I won't be going back, because I wouldn't be able to enjoy my meal if I had to worry about rocks in every bite.

The food is wonderful; not a single complaint. It is expensive though as far as Chinese restaurants go; my beef dish with a large plate of fried rice was $26.00. I wish the prices were a bit lower so I could be a regular here. Staff is excellent!

I think this is the Vietnamese Wedding place that everyone uses... I would say the food here is pretty decent. I like it better than other Chinese Restaurants. The place is pretty huge and I can see the need when you have a 500 person plus wedding. Food is 3 stars, service is way better than other Chinese restaurants so you will actually get water if you ask for it. Decor is typical and prices are reasonable. The family dinner packs are the best deal for a larger party.

This place is fancy looking with chandeliers and golden decor. The food is good but not good enough for its price. I like the halibut here. I also like the dim sum a lot. My favorite dim sum things here are the mango pudding, chicken feet, Sui Mai, and old egg lean pork porridge. I like the imitation shark fin soup. The food here is not nasty tasting, but it's not amazingly good either. I just go here because it's in my city so I don't have to go really far away to get chinese food.

To sum it up, quantity verse quality, and well you get for what you pay for. Food was lacking flavor and food was really greasy or I guess that's how it's custom their.

Food is over salted and overpriced. I'm sure you can find a place way better within a 5 mile radius. You're in an Asian plaza after all.

Any time you have a large group and want either dim sum or dinner, this is your place. I have no idea how expansive this location is but every time we come they take us down halls and into the depths. Decent food and mostly consistent. Prices can be a bit higher in comparison to others in the area but for a relatively clean Chinese restaurant it is not too bad.

So, my cousins and I were looking for a new place to eat dim sum. We yelped a few places and this one popped up and it was the closest to us. So this place was the winner! We got there and on the outside it looked so huge. Once we got inside... Turns out the restaurant was up the stairs. As we waited to be seated, there was barely anyone so I don't see why it took us so long to be seated. We came for dim sum and turns out they only serve dim sum for lunch and we came around dinner time. So! That was already a disappointment. Our waiter gave us the menu then her and the other waitress went off to the side and chit chatted while staring at us. So it was very uncomfortable because it felt as if they were gossiping about us. Next when we were ready to order my cousin asked for a few more minutes to decide on what she wanted and our waitress was so rude and impatient. I could point out more flaws on what's wrong with this place but overall this place is an eh ok. The food was okay.

Surprisingly I have only been here for Dim Sum and never for lunch or dinner here, so this review is SOLELY for their dim sum. I have been coming here ever since I was a little boy. My parents were probably coming here when they were little too. When you ask any of your Vietnamese friend, "Hey you wanna get dim sum?" This is certainly the place that they suggest. Make sure to get there before noon because it is extremely busy from when they open to when they stop serving dim sum. They also don't give you any warning when they are stopping the dim sum portion. They just quietly push the carts to the back and then they are done. The food here is pretty good. It isn't as greasy as I remember it and it definitely isn't as greasy as most places I have been to. Now, when you go you do have to put yourself in this strange mindset. When you sit down to eat, all of the employees seem like they are running around so frantic, like their heads are cut off. The things is, they are super frantic and there is a somewhat controlled chaos that we are not aware of. There are little ladies pushing carts of food around. Their job is SOLELY to deliver food from their carts. They can't get you food from a different cart AND they can't get you drinks either. That is the job of the servers that are dressed a little bit nicer than the rest. They get your drinks, they can order you food from any cart or the menu, and they are the ones that handle the check. If you ask one of those little ladies to do anything other than put the food in her cart on your table, she will be rude to you and look at you like you are crazy. All in all, this place is great! Great food, a little pricey, but I have been to places significantly more expensive and the service isn't too bad either.

I've been here for both dimsum and dinners. Can't say I'm a fan of either. The food is mediocre. Dishes tend to be a bit saltier than I'm used to. I do like their lobster dishes though. Their food runs a little on the pricey side. Service is below average. I really wish that when they remove anything from the table that they don't just reach right across me, arm in front of my face. Some servers are nice, some are rude. I never drink the water they serve--always get tea. I saw little pieces of something floating in the water last time I went.

    (2)
  • Bryan N.

This place is very watered down for American taste. The food was very bland and I didn't like how they didn't have vinegar at the table. Service could also be a bit better. We weren't greeted or anything when walking in. And when we sat down he rudely asked if we wanted hot tea.

Had dim sum here on a weekend and it exceeded expectations, as I've had my fair share of dim sum. Came about half an hour before they stopped serving dim sum, so i wasn't crowded and there weren't many carts or food options left. However, what I was able to get was good. The har gow, shumai, and porridge were all delectable. The taro puff though, I've had better. Would definitely come back if I am in the area.

Worst dining experience ever. I came here with family to eat Dim Sum on a Sunday morning. The restaurant layout is very wedding like. Nice long stair cases that curve in. Very similar to Socal. n As soon as I walked up, the girls at the podium acknowledge.. my bag. Yes my bag. She barely said hi, she said OMG where'd you get your purse it's so cute. Um, that was it. Anyways... My aunt and uncle had already had the table, and started eating. We came a little later just because we went to make a visit to someone. When we sat down, I was ready to get my grub on. Let me tell you... If you sitting in the middle aisle, you're f*cked. When the servers walk out and push those carts, they stop by to the tables on the outer skirts first, and seriously, they always manage to run out. **All I freaking wanted was some Shu Mai, Hai Gao was that too much to ask for? Oh but they can sure push all the other stuff around, stuff people didn't really want, hmm what does that tell you. Porridge, sticky rice.. etc... Serious? BEEPBEEPBEEP! -_- It's been a good 20-30 minutes, our table was empty no food whatsoever. My aunt had advised us to just go order from them to cook it for us specifically. So here comes the manager. He started off with great customer service asked us what we would like to order. Just Shu Mai and Hai Gao please. "Sorry, we cannot make those orders." Mutha f*kCr what just happened? You serious? He said we can order things on the menu like fried rice. Like b---tch, what do you think I came here for. And he says, unfortunately, our cooks have to make it fresh and usually when it comes out everyone takes it. I said to him, maybe if your waitresses would go another route they would get to us with food, but no, you obviously trained them poorly to go on specific route. No comment. This whole restaurant is a joke. Do not tell me you need to come early for Dim Sum. There are always good restaurants who do a better job. Socal has 'em, and dear God even Sacramento has 'em. I cannot stand people with this mentality and service. I wish I could give them a full on negative, 1 star is pushing it right now.

I went here yesterday for dinner. The food price was expensive but the portions were small. I like Grand Palace in SSF better. The beef with scallops stir fried barely had any beef or scallop, very disappointing. The smoked sea bass is ok, I had better. The staff is really nice. But I will never come here again for dinner too over priced for the food and quality. The entire restaurant including us were only 3 tables.

Wedding venue for Asians galore. They have a bottom and top floor and can accommodate up to 500 people! Crazy Asians. Friends wedding. 10 course family style meal: -dim sum delight: we didn't even know this was on the table, but it didn't look very appetizing -suckling combo platter-the typical appetizer platter, except they had like 2 items less than the usuals, like I think it was missing the asian deli meats -fish maw & scallop bird nest broth-the soup was plain, and the scallop was decent -deep fried stuff crab claws-this was supposed to be one of the best dishes, and it was good except that you couldn't get any crab meat out! So hard, no crab crackers provided -sauteed scallops & squab meat: maybe cuz I found out it was a squab? But it was alright...kinda chewy -peking duck: love the duck -stir fried lobster with basil: Lobster was a bit overcook -smoked sea bass: delicious! they did this very well -abalone, mushrooms: salty and slimy but decent -sticky fried rice with preserved meat : weird that it was sticky rice, would not prefer sticky rice for fried rice... -dessert-red bean-watery and tasteless Overall, I had better Asian food at an Asian wedding.

BE AWARE this place tried to ripped me off this morning. We went in for dim sum (party of 5). Our bill was $108 (not a cheap place to eat). I gave them my credit card, they came back to have me sign and I noticed that they have already filled out the tip part of $16 and put the total to be $124! They can't do that! It's up to me to fill that part out! Will NOT be back! I hope the owner read this review and tell the employees not to do this! It's up to the customers to decide how much tips to give the waiters.

I've only come here for Dim Sum and this review is for their Dim Sum only. My Family and I usually come here for lunch and and order whatever dim sum we felt like eating when the carts came around. Dim sum selection is pretty decent, not the greatest, but it does satisfy my cravings. Service is mediocre and if you speak Chinese, they're more attentive and help you with what you want. Overall, decent place for dim sum and location is convenient.

Came here with a group of 5 and decided to order this special combination meal for $68. Ask them for the special menu because they won't give it to you if you don't ask. It is meant to serve 6 people and consists of a soup, 4 entree dishes of your choosing, and a lobster dish. It doesn't matter if you don't have a group of 6. If you have the money for it, you can order it. I am not familiar with the Chinese language and so I cannot tell you exactly what the people in my group ordered, but I can try to describe them. Crab containing soup - This soup was nice to have on a cold rainy day. The soup comes in a large bowl and is the same size regardless of how many people are in your group. Stir fried beef - typical and nothing too special Salt and Pepper squid - somewhat on the blander side and I thought the squid could definitely be cut up into smaller pieces Clams sauteed in some kind of herb - this was probably my favorite dish aside from the soup. It was savory and I was sad there wasn't that much to feed myself. Another squid dish with other seafood like shrimp - the sauce that the seafood was in is delicious. I could put sauce over my rice and eat it. I could have done w/o the squid. I think I may not be a squid person. Lobster dish - yummy lobster and sauce. They come cracked for you so you don't have to do it yourself. The special comes with dessert at the end, which comprises of what I think is a mung bean dessert and some almond cookies and sesame balls. The waiters were very attentive and swapped new dishes when they saw that we had made a mess of our first ones. It could also be that we were one of their few customers and so they didn't have that many people to pay attention to. Great deal for a group of 5 as you'll get full off the food. Unfortunately, you can't have an extremely picky palette to eat here.

Great dim sum. I highly recommend coming around 11am. If you come any time before that, they only have 2-4 carts going around. After 11am there are tons of options!!!

It's the only place semi close to san jose state for some dine in dim sum. The food isnt exactly the best but i mean its do able for san jose. Service is mediocre as they tend to try to push as many food at you as possible which gets kind of annoying. like....breh... lemme eat what i wanna eat. The environment is clean and friendly but as to the food its better of at saigon harbor in sunnyvale.

Food = below average Service = so so Wait time = bad How do you have 2 people pushing carts at a large Dim Sum place, really! We waited at times 10 mins before we got the next cart and then it was the same stuff that we just had 10 mins ago with a different lady. WTF! My advice if you want to eat here and do want to wait through the motions, wave over one of the employees grabbing drinks to order/ask for exactly what you want. We ended up doing that and then get our food. I could understand if this place had really tasty Dim Sum but.........NO!

I've been here a couple times with the in-laws and both times, we were there for dinner. Food was good but not memorable. This restaurant is pretty big but parking may be lacking since it's shared with other stores in the same plaza.

Dim Sum here is really great and there are servers who cater to your every need. However, this place is always crowded for breakfast/brunch/lunch especially on holidays or Sundays. Sometimes, the food runs out and you have to wait 20 minutes until the dish of dim sum that you want will be out. The sanitation is not that great either, but passable and you won't notice it if you're not super observant. I would recommend it if you went early and are NOT a germaphobe but like I said, the food here is really great!

I would give this place a half star but it's not allowed. My friend had her wedding here and over 30+ people got sick from food poisoning, and their response was boba and outside food. I'm sorry but I haven't had boba in a while. I got seriously sock for 2-3 days, my friends son was sick for 4+. Poor little guy. The Thu k that makes this a half star is that they didn't even look into it, or offer anything. That is the worst customer service. Dont go here for any meal until they treat their customers better.

Huge birthday party in the first floor ballroom... read all the other reviews... at least 5 of us got FOOD POISONING. Party was Sunday, sickness happened Tuesday. That's no coincidence. It fits the proper timing, we all live in different areas of CA but somehow all got sick... don't waste your money.

I had two chicken feet and Sieu Mai and I was already so full...full of disappointment. No flavor in anything I ate. Probably the worst dim sum I've had in my life. 2 stars because the place looks nice and the service was friendly.

This place is hugee and is probably the biggest Asian restaurant I have been to. It is right next to or even inside the grand century mall. I have been here for dim sum and there food is good. Their dinner is also good but pretty pricey even with the family meals. You will notice that this is one of the top places for Asians to hold weddings. Hopefully you won't come on a wedding day or else your dinner will take forever and service will be super slow. I don't come here anymore because the food isn't as good and it is way more expensive than restaurants like East Lake and Mayflower. **TIPS** 1) This is a nice fancy restaurant if you want to impress relatives. Food is good but too expensive. 2) Enjoy!

  • Yannie S.

The food isn't GREAT, but I'm still a fan of this place for dim sum over other places because the food is always CONSISTENT for me. I know exactly which dish is good and which is not. (e.g really like their siu mai, spare ribs. Not so much the sticky rice) Basically, I never get a dish that I liked that was a hit or miss. Ya feel?? It's a really big and roomy restaurant, but sometimes that can be a bad thing because it takes the carts FOREVER to travel. No matter where I sit, I feel like I have to actually get up with my bow and arrow (the tab) and hunt for my food. The service isn't impeccable, but they do have attendants checking on you on a basis. And they do a really good job on keeping me hydrated. It would also be a nice place to have an big Asian celebration because it does look a lot better than other places.

    (4)
  • Tim L.

I just dont like this location, the one in vallco mall is better. The reasons why: cold food, rude servers, and did not refill drinks. It was two years ago and never coming back.

    (1)
  • Tracy Joy K.

Guaranteed if you come here on a Saturday or Sunday, there WILL be an asian wedding downstairs. I was "lucky" enough to come here around Chinese New Year time and there was a celebration on the second floor (pretty noisy, but I tried to not let it take away from the experience). Seafood is in their name for a reason! Their seafood is delicious and we had a great Cod (pretty expensive but absolutely delicious). As a result of shelling out the money for the fresh fish, we were able to get a coupon for a free lobster. I definitely know that you can get fresh fish cheaper elsewhere, but this place has a fresh and wonderful flavor. In terms of their Chinese food, it isn't the best but okay. Served family style and able to share. However, pretty pricey in terms of the grand scheme of things. Overall, would come back for the fresh fish and my free lobster!

I have one word that sums up my experience... R O A C H E S ... they were COOKED and in my dim sum. The supervisor who saw the inch long cooked roach attached to my food merely tossed it out at the nearest garbage can and went to fetch another one. We told him we were done eating - obviously no more appetite. They still charged us for the other dim sum we ate. Somebody from the County Health Department reading this????

I was invited to a wedding banquet here and i was soOO surprised when I had the best Chinese Banquet ever here. I am not kidding. we had everything, Shark fin Soup,Sea Bass , Peking Duck, Abalone, Lobter, crab, clams with black bean sauce, choi-sum, jelly-fish, sea cucumber, beef, chicken, pork, and a ton of veggies , fried rice, noodles..... everything in the land and sea that is edible was served at this wedding and the quality was truly impressive. The flavors were perfect. I cannot believe they made all this for 40 something tables! the service was wonderful. The staff was well coordinated and everything was served quickly. I did not expect to have so much wonderful chinese cuisine here. This was about a year ago I attended. I am chinese and have been to too many chinese restaurants but this place has blown all of them out the door when it comes to authentic Chinese flavor, this place is the best. The area and the room is a little cheezy ( kind of out-dated ugly carpet to cover spills and neon light on the cieling etc, ghetto neighborhood) but there is plenty of parking. I have also come for dim-Sum but it was not as special as the Wedding Banquet. Dim Sum here is regular, nothing spectacular. Dim Sum is 3 stars but banquet was 4 stars!

Located in the controversial "Little Saigon" neighborhood at Grand Century Mall. I've attended a few weddings/birthday parties here. I've heard they changed cooks and this was my first time trying their dim sum. Decent selections including the staple har gow, sui mai and banh he to name a few. All this food + a few dishes off the menu came to less than $110 for 12 people. What a steal! Come early or have someone wait ahead of time since it's just as busy as other dim sum places on a Sunday afternoon. Conveniently connected to the Asian mall so you can take turns perusing the stores to kill time. Parking can be a pain so I'd recommend car pooling - not only will you be "green" but you'll also save your sanity!

Just an FYI. We came here for a late lunch today around 1:30 and we order a bunch of food. Half of which came out barely warm, and the shrimp inside the Banh Uot came out REALLY overcooked and not edible at all, so we ate the flour around it instead of the shrimp, the more expensive part of the dish... REALLY disappointing. The service from the Mexican people is honestly better than the service we get from the Asian people, and it's Asian owned. HMM? Interesting. Just thought I'd make a point of that.

Dim sum here IMHO is good. It may not be the best but it is pretty good.I especially like the beef tripe in a brown sauce. They have the best one. Also, pastry items are tasty. The advantage of this place is that it is ginormous. You don't normally have to wait too long to get a table. It is very very convenient. Parking can be a little hard to find but it is not terrible. Good for large groups with a spur of moment decision to have dim sum on a weekend.

  • Lily L.

I give 4 stars because their dim sum has gotten better again. Again because they WERE good when first opened, then it sucked and now its good again. I came here for quite a few weddings and this last time on 11/17 surprised me. Maybe they selected the higher package but the food was very very good. Dishes came out on time and the table never overflowed with food meaning we killed every dish in time for the next.

Came here for dinner last night with extended family. I wasn't expecting much and figured it would be like the other Dynasty restaurant in Cupertino. We ordered a set dinner and some extra dishes. Overall, service was pretty good and they were attentive. The food itself tasted pretty darn delicious. I was actually kind of surprised. I was expecting some "eh" food but they did a pretty decent job. I will have to say that the salty egg crab is still best at koi garden in pleasanton. I did like the sticky rice dish and peking duck. All in all not a bad experience, I think my family will definitely be heading back there for dinner more.

A friend was joking that this place should be nicknamed Dy-nasty. I laughed thinking it couldn't be that bad. Well, it is. The food is just alright and it's not really that fresh. The pork inside the BBQ pork buns didn't have much flavor as it was just a little mushy (not super mushy, but didn't have the texture I really like). The place itself looks nice though and from my understanding people have weddings here and I can picture that happening. However, I just hope the food they serve for weddings is much better than the dim sum they serve. To be honest, I can't even think of one redeeming dish that they had that I liked. Sorry, Dynasty, but I won't be coming back here. I'll give it up for their customer service, though. Very nice people who was very attentive to getting my dirty plates out of the way. I would give you five stars for that. But I'm rating you guys on your food. Two stars for that.

This place is kind of in the pricey side but so far this is the best chinese restaurant I been to in San Jose...I love their salt and pepper tofu...I tried to order salt and pepper tofu at other restaurants and it's never made quite the same as Dynasty's...Their salt and pepper porkchops are super yummy too, I'm not sure if its the batter or the seasoning but all I know is its delicious...

  • Christine V.

Dim sum and wedding food is about the only thing I eat at Dynasty. The dim sum here is OK. If you come earlier in the morning, you obviously don't get a bigger selection of dim sum. Once the crowd starts coming in around noon, they start rolling out more carts. Nothing spectacular about the food...but not bad enough that I won't come back. Just meh.

    (3)
  • Bernard L.

If I'm willing to tolerate crowds and crappy parking to go here, then logic says I must like this place. Depending on what time you come it can be a good experience or a bad one (especially if you hate loud, obnoxious people who think they're funny sitting at the table next to you). I avoid the early crowd and come past 12 when it isn't so hectic. The staff is nice enough and the tables are fairly spread out so you're not bumping someone everytime you get out of your chair. The food is...well it's dim sum. It's really hard to get it wrong unless you've never spent time in the kitchen before.

  • Jon N.

Ive come for a couple of weddings and dim sum. Its a cool spot for weddings but dinner and dim sum is only so so...I prefer ghetto dim sum that is full of flavors... It kinda seems like they are trying to hard. Chinese food is known for being sloppy n greasy. This place isnt...which makes it a good place to bring ladies to come eat!

Firstly, I think it's amazing that two restaurants with the exact same name can exist so close to each other (There's one in Cupertino at the Vallco mall). And now a quick funny story to get the right frame of mind for this review: So, it was a Saturday evening, and my girlfriend calls me up and says her family wants to get together for dim sum to celebrate the New Year. They've just moved to the peninsula and don't know the area too well. Well, I do, and being the explorer I am, I suggest we go someplace that's brand new to both of us. So, Yelp, be my guide. I do a search for dim sum in Cupertino, and I get a list of familiar faces: Joy Luck, Pan Tao, etc. Oh, and then a new one. Dynasty Chinese Seafood Restaurant. Reviews look good. Pictures look good. I'm thinking this is the place. So I tell her the place. We're talking over the phone, so I can't send her a link. I just tell her to Yelp it. Well, lo and behold, she searches Dynasty Chinese Seafood Restaurant in San Jose, and (unbeknownst to me) this restaurant shows up. I ask her if it's the right one, and she says it is. So, come Sunday at 11am, I'm calling her asking where they are, and she's telling me they're on the 2nd floor. I look around, and ask "What 2nd floor? You're in Macy's?" And then I figured out that we were in two different places. 25 minute drive later and a talk telling my gf to always put in the exact search I tell her to, I meet them in San Jose at the location for this review. So now the actual food review. So, my experience wasn't the best. Almost everything that was left to eat was cold. I did order a few new items for me, and they were ok, but I was pretty grumpy at this point in time, which makes everything taste worse. The har gow seemed too small. The footballs (I dunno what they're called) seemed too crispy. Although, my girlfriend's parents did say that it was just ok. Not sure if that was just because they were trying to tell me I hadn't missed out on much (hello? it's dim sum!) or if they were really just non-plussed with the place. They did have about 10 things on their check when I showed up, though, so I guess it couldn't be too bad. Either way, I doubt I'll be coming back here for two main reasons: It's pretty far just for dim sum. I know a lot of dim sum restaurants that are not only closer, but better. Secondly, the atmosphere isn't great. Out in the parking lot, it's madness because of the mall they have there. There was a car leaving that was taking up two spots, and I was waiting on it. Another guy saw this (he thought it was only one spot) and ran in front of me to take the spot. Initially, he took up both spots. But after some persuasive honking on my part, he straightened up and everything was fine. But again, maybe it was just a bad day for me. :)

Mm Mmmm, went here for lunch with co-workers (who know what to order, as I eat everything except chicken feet I'm easy but also not selective enough for such places). They had everything I loved, and so much more! The quality was great, everything we got was so well done. I'm certain I'll be back here many times.

This is definitely the largest Chinese restaurant in the South Bay or at least in San Jose. Excellent dim sum and very reasonable. Sure the parking is a big problem, but what do you expect? At least, it is better than Lion Plaza, which in my opinion, is 10x worse.

My husband and I frequented this location prior to moving to the East Bay. We've been here for dim sum on various occassions: weekdays, weekends, holidays. Only once did we get less than stellar service/results and that was on one of the weekday visits. In hindsight, I think that's only because we came too early for a good selection since the good stuff started coming out around the peek lunch period. We've also visited quite a few times for dinner. I can't stress enough how much of a value their weekday dinner specials are -- you really can't beat it for the price. Our favorite day was Thursday because that is when they offer the Peking Duck for $9.99 -- a steal! This is the first and best place I've had Peking duck. Their duck is wonderfully seasoned with a heavenly crisp skin, served with fresh steamed bread "pillows" (NOT pancakes!), scallion brushes and hoisin sauce. You eat the duck by slathering a little hoisin on a "pillow", adding a scallion brush, a piece of roasted duck meat and top it with a crisp bit of skin. It's a little bit of heaven. Another one of our staples is the braised tofu and vegetables. It is a very simple dish that, like all simple dishes, can fail miserably if not prepared right. Dynasty's version absolutely shines -- the tofu is freshly fried, the inside delectably creamy and delecate while the outside is just barely crunchy while being smothered in just the right amount of braising sauce. The vegetables are all perfectly all perfectly done and the mushroom was wonderfully chewy. The seafood at Dynasty is unbelievably fresh and a wonderful value for the price. Whether it's walnut prawns, black bean sauce clams, salt-and-pepper fried crab or the unbelievably delicious ginger-and-scallion sauced lobster, you won't be disappointed. About the only thing I don't recommend is the walnut prawns, not because they're not good -- they're great! -- it's just that there are so many other good seafood dishes on the menu that there are better ways to enjoy your seafood. Perhaps the most shocking to my husband and I is that the service is pretty damn good. We have been to other Chinese restaurants that are comparable to Dynasty's quality where we have been routinely treated poorly. Whether or not this is because we're not Chinese, we're not sure but we have noticed a difference in service when patronizing with Chinese friends so draw your own conclusions from there. Happily, Dynasty has an extremely high quality of service. I have never once been unhappy with the service, from the host to the dim-sum ladies to the wait staff, whether on a sleepy weekday evening to the busiest dim sum Sunday. The staff is extremely attentive, with water refills and clean plates always at the ready. And did I mention free dinner dessert? Yep! Before your bill comes a plate of little fried sesame cookies, almond cookies and a cold dessert soup. How awesome is that? The only downside is that drinks are pretty limited as far as soda and the glasses they give you are small. As others have mentioned, the restaurant is very popular amongst Vietnamese families for wedding banquets. We've also looked into banquet prices and they are on par with what you would expect to spend, $250+ per table of ten and up. There's a banquet room on the first floor that requires a guest list of 125 or more. For smaller parties, they reserve part of the second story main floor for you. The only problem is that there's no barriers for this so if you have a smaller banquet (less than 125), you'll be sharing space with non-party goers. I don't remember if they put up any kind of barrier but I don't believe they do. All in all, I believe this is the best value for upscale, authentic Chinese in the South Bay. I like this place so much that I'd gladly drive down from Union City to patronize this place.

We, a party of four, just had a dim sum lunch at Dynasty, We tried six dim sum dishes and found all of them lacking in flavors. One dish was literally swimming in soy sauce and the fillings were tasteless. While the service was fine, the restaurant was found unacceptable. Would not return.

Weekend morning, this place is always busy, and it makes you feel that you are actually in CHINA or HONGKONG for Dim Sum. The food is guaranteed authentic Chinese and yet poplar among other folks. Whatever you want in Dim Sum, they have it! I love their large selection of Dim Sum.

I only go to this restaurant for DIM SUM! why you would go for anything else beats me. FOOD is delicious, just waiitng for your cart to come by is the only downside. Beef Chow Fun is amazing. Service is good, the ladies always tell you what they have and are trying to get you to buy it. It's always a good way to start the day when you go to dynasty for dim sum. Definitely my favorite brunch restaurant in San Jose for sure.

It was so crowded and noisy, but we got seated quickly. The food was good and there were always plenty of carts passing by even with us seating in the FAR way back of the restaurant. Dinner is just as popular and packed. Not sure how great the price is, but service was great. The waiters/busboys were always there refilling our water and taking away our dishes. GOOD parking is hard to find, definitely would come back.

Dynasty is ok if we're desperate for dim sum and every other place is full. The custard bread is really good but everything else is just so-so. I heard they serve day-old deep fried crab claw on Sundays that's leftover from Saturday's banquet. Yucky!

i must start by saying that i used to dread going to this place. when it first opened and the first couple of years, it was horrible wedding food and crowded, always lines. my friend asked me to meet him there for dim sum...i was not too keen on the idea but it was centralized for both of us. we got there at 1pm. no lines but tons of ppl. i think almost every table was filled up cause it was hard to spot my friend in the sea of ppl. the dim sum cart was heading to our table as soon as i sat down...thank goodness i didnt have to wait. we were able to get everything we always eat for dim sum. I was surprised :) on top of it, it was pretty good. the banh cuon tom, very fresh. dumplings = yummy. no more dreading to come here...,i will be back again.

I wish I could give my review for the first time I've eaten dim sum, but I can't remember the name of the place. I came here with my boyfriend and his family for brunch. This second time eating dim sum...I'm not too familiar with the taste of dumplings and their chicken feet delicacy. I was amazed with the huge restaurant! Place is located on the top floor, so you'd have to go up a flight of stairs to get to the restaurant. Right when you walk in...you'll be surprised by how many people can be accommodated. The staff is very quick serving, cleaning the tables, refilling your drinks, etc. I wasn't too fond of the hot tea that they served. I've had much better. I was told by my boyfriend's mom that this place is very well known, but I'm sure there are far more better places to eat. I'll just have to search for it! Oh yeah...they serve a whole roasted pig for $208. Pretty expensive. Just something I would want to throw out there for ya'll.

i've been here a couple of times for a wedding but never on my own for diner. i really like to go here for their dim sum. it's nice they're pretty attentive and their dim sum ends late on the weekends. in san jose i think this is one of the few places i like to eat dim sum at and at a pretty nice environment too.

i heart the dim sum here. i hate getting full. i wanna stay there & eat all day long. hahah. entree wise, i highly suggest the peking duck with the bread "pillows" they come with. hella good. not the servers, but the ones who get the water & take kitchen orders.. are WEAK. half of them dont even understand what, "may i please get a round of waters & some tea?" means. but whatever, im there for the food, not them. lol.

My friend and I went here, because we were madly craving Dim Sum. We were the first ones there at 11 in the morning, but it quickly turned into a full house. The service is as attentive as they can be with such a large space to cover. The food is delicious and I think the prices are reasonable. I'd go back.

I have to give this place only two stars since they are inconsistent with their food. One day the sui mai tastes good, the next time it doesn't. They don't have as much variety as some other places and none of their food stands out amongst other restaurants. Heard that thier dinner is not all that great either. I would try another place next time

2.5 stars. Came with friends, per their invite, during weekday lunch. Parking was relatively easy in the large open lot, especially since we didn't have to park in the closest row to the building. Dim sum dishes were fairly standard, nothing really stood out good or bad in terms of quality or variety. The congee (from the dim sum cart) was a bit on the smallish side or portions I've seen in other places. Good for groups and kids, as most restaurants in this category are. Service did stand out, but not particularly in a positive light. While we were greeted promptly, what followed can be best described as a swarm of carts... and then nothing for the whole rest of our visit, which was about a good 90 minutes. We had not even fully taken our seats, literally, when all these carts pulled up and each started to push plates on us. "Want a plate of this? How about TWO plates, eh?" Whoa!!! Hold your horses, ladies, just gimme a minute to breathe! We ended up ordering enough plates to cover the table (there were ten of us), and then surprisingly the carts never made a second round, which was interesting and quite unusual in my dim sum experiences. Maybe it was something my friend said to them about letting us sit down first. Maybe it's just lousy coverage. We could have used a few more orders. It's like they expect you to order everything at once (the standard practice is that you order little bits, so that the food doesn't get cold) and never bother to come by for a follow-up. Table service was just adequate. Our plates were cleared and changed once or twice, which we appreciated. Tea pots were filled when we signaled they were empty. Soy sauce and hot chili were at the table, but I had to ask for mustard, which was pretty strong Chinese mustard (similar to wasabe). Upon paying for the check, we received a complimentary coupon for a free crab good on a future visit within a month or so, as part of some promotion. Verdict: Pretty standard Hong Kong-style seafood/dim sum restaurant. Seems like a good locale for weddings and such because of the relatively new decor and large locale. Dim sum was pretty standard/average, but I was surprised by lack of follow-up visits by the carts after the initial table-side blitzkrieg.

"Dim sum is ok but for some reason we always end up at this place with our friends. I would have to say that the same food carts keep coming around and the owners of the restaurant have to come up with a better system so there is more selection for the patrons. I guess my friends and I love bad service. In any case the Dim sum is ok and definitely not the best. The wedding banquet food is ok and it's one of the few places that can hold about 400 people for a wedding.

I think people come here for the fancy stairs leading to the dining room... Because everything here is just OVERRATED. Service sucked, food sucked and everything was plain over priced. Maybe it was a bad day or two, won't be dining here anytime soon.

Went here for dim sum on a Sunday morning. I like that it's on the second floor so it has an open and airy feel to it. They have quaint, albeit a little tacky, chandeliers on the ceiling. Parking was not too hard to find. Carts of dim sum came around regularly for a while but they suddenly stopped completely, for almost 30 min. When they finally resumed, very few dim sum carts were pushed out but at the same time they had so many extra waiters/waitresses walking around. At that time we were pretty desperate for food so we just grabbed a waiter to ask him to "divert" a few dim sum carts our way. He ended up carrying individual plates to our table. The food was okay. It was not spectacular by any means. The restaurant was very busy when we went, and they definitely needed to have food coming out more quickly. I think there are other dim sum places out there that are better.

Good dim sum, really tasty fried tofu dish (don't be fooled by the outside, they must marinate it before getting just the right crispy outside and savory inside). Also good service. This review is for the dim sum only, I have never been there for regular service (although we did walk past a delicious smelling whole steamed fish on the way out --on chinese new year).

Good service. Dim sum is good except for the white chicken feet; that tasted spoiled.

If any of my relatives are having a wedding, big bday or any special occasion its always here. ALWAYS. Its not that bad but its not that great either. the question is if not here what other choices do you really have? So all my relatives always have everything here. I like their dim sum here its actually okay i like their fried tofu plates you can order. Its not so bad but its usually crowded during dim sum hours on the weekends unless you go at 10 or 11 AM then its not so bad.

Good food Busy place with Weddings being very popular in the week-ends Ordered Salt fish chicken fried rice - $10 was good, nothing special Abalone and Shitake Mushrooms on Chinese Greens - tasty and fresh Peking Duck - Tasty, little greasy, pancakes were a little small Sea Bass was ordered - asked if it was the Endangered CHilean Sea Bass - server had the cutest totally blank stare - I thought it probably was so would not eat it, as to not perpetuate the ridding this planet of another species Service as good but once we had finished eating, the helpfulness was removed and staff were neutral on any service supplied (like re-filling our tea/water) Would return again. Will try to see if they do serve Chilean Sea Bass, if so, will probably not return until after they have eliminated the whole species

CROWDED!! omg..do not attempt to go here on the weekends. It's like a toys r us except no one's selling toys. There were that many kids there it was crazy! The parking lot is a mess...no one can get in or out...everyone's fighting for parking....people are walking everywhere..it's just an impossible situation After parking, you have to wait another hour or so to get seated for a table. We got a number in the 80's....they barely started calling numbers in the 20's. The dim sum was actually pretty good. Items were big and plentiful and they tasted fresh. Still though...that whole hour or so i had to deal with before getting food in stomach was not worth it. All this started happening at 11:00. We didn't get out till around 2:00. Definitely not the place to go if you're experiencing a hangover or if you've got lack of sleep.

My wife and I ate here about a month ago and were very disappointed. We ordered Kung Pao Shrimp (which came out as Kung Pao Chicken before we returned it), a vegetable dish and spring rolls. The food was rather bland or oily, the service was slow, the atmosphere was rather noisy and we thought the food was overpriced. We left feeling like we'd wasted a dinner out and will not return when there are so many other good Chinese restaurants in the area.

We had our wedding here in Dec. 2006, and we still go there to eat! Except for banquet meals, I haven't really had dinner here before. We usually go here for dim sum, and it's always great. There are lots of different dishes/dumplings that I don't remember eating as a kid, but that's fine with me as long as they are yummy! I think the food at the Story Rd. location beats the one in Cupertino even though it's the same owner.

I was here for a friend's wedding banquet dinner. The food was pretty good my favorites would be the Shark Fin Soup and the Special Combination Fried Rice. Dynasty Chinese Seafood Restaurant has one of the best restaurant decorations!!!

I haven't been to this place in a while but I felt like checking it out again for some reason. I remember going here with my family on the weekdays and for dim sum on weekends. But I totally had forgotten why we stopped going to this place. So this time I went with this in mind, to keep some mental notes of the place. Overall the food was good. We ordered crab and fish maw soup, clams in black bean sauce, beef with scallops, crab in ginger sauce, smoked sea bass, a vegatable plate, soy bean chicken, and house special pan fried noodles. The beef with scallops was really good. The beef was tender and the sauce on it was delicious, especially with rice. The smoked sea bass was good but a little on the small side which i'll complain about later. The crab, soup, and vegetables didn't leave an impression. Skip the house special pan fried noodles. The place is really big, and the service was good. That could be because there was only 4-5 tables seated when we were eating so there were more waiters than tables full. But service was great, they changed dishes often, gave us water, tried to be helpful when we were ordering, and you get complimentary dessert at the end. This time around, the most important lesson I learned was that boy, this place is expensive for dinners on the weekend. We ordered the smoked sea bass for $25 and found that it was just a 8 x 3 inch slice of sea bass. We were so disappointed, for $25 I expect at least half a fish man!. Most dishes were at least $12 a plate. Never ever order the vegetable plate that the waitor recommends, it always seems to be the most expensive one. And sadly, one funny thing to note. The pictures in their menu aren't of their food. When we got there, we were pouring over the menu looking at the delicious pictures they had and wondering which ones were they on the menu. And once we had 3 or 4 pictures picked out with our mouths drooling over them, and got the waiter to come over, we were sad to learn that the pictures were just for show, they didn't actually make them. Thats so false advertising! hehe. I was tempted to give them one less tar in their review, because the imaginery picture dinner woulda tasted so much better than what we ordered. But I didn't.

this place used to be one of my favorite places to go. i don't know what happened, but it has gone downhill. the staff is ALWAYS NICE. and the food is usually decently good. that last time i went was maybe 1-2 yrs ago, and i was little disappointed. the roast squab was a little bit on the wimpy side. we had a couple special event dinners here and it was good.... then. i was considering this location for a major event, but i visited here last fall and i decided that it just doesn't have that new, fresh, almost-good-enough-for-a-wedding look anymore. i was really sad. sorry.

Pretty tasty dim sum for a lazy Sunday afternoon. All the regular dim sum favorites, along with this really tasty salt and pepper tofu. This place is huge, so there's rarely a wait for a table. The carts also come by pretty frequently so you don't have to stockpile. The parking lot is madness, but it's a huge step up from the Grand Fortune's (which is just pure, unadulterated sketch).

this place used to be good years ago. its dim-sum, some are good, some are so-so. i tried the seabass plate (fried), you'll find lots of fish bones and the fish still smells. the one in Cupertino is much much better.

I've been to this place for weddings and dim sum, and it's not that bad. For a wedding, it's actually pretty good. It's big and the décor can be really pretty. The food is decent and the service is good. You'll have fun! For dim sum, it's not my place of choice. I will only go here if I cannot convince whoever's decision it is to come here to go somewhere else. The food taste a little bit different to my liking. I can't pinpoint what it is, but it does not taste that good. A friend of mine came here for the first and last time because she saw cockroaches in her eggtart. It was baked into the crust...yeah sounds gross, but I actually came to this place for dim sum after her telling me that story, and I got the eggtart...I checked for bugs, but thankfully, saw nothing! It's nice, it's fancy, but I'd go to either Grand Fortune or Flourishing Garden for dim sum for the food. I heard Sino has a pretty good dim sum too, I'll check it out one day and will let you all know!

We usually only come here for dim sum on Sundays and so far its the first place I've been to in San Jose for dim sum. The food is pretty good .. sometimes it takes a while to get the dish you're looking for... and its pretty packed everytime we go.

I was a patron of Kowloon in Milpitas since I was a child. When they changed and became HAPPY BUFFET (boo!) I was the saddest person in the world. You see, I kept the tradition, and brought my children and husband as well. I reminisce seeing my little girl in a highchair chomping on some dim sum, and smearing it across her face. The days of Kowloon are no longer here... After months and months of searching for a new place for dim sum, I was introduced to DYNASTY. Hurray! This place is as close as it gets, and we will be coming here when we're craving some dim sum. The only con I can think of is that parking is horrible! But I'll put up with the craziness of dim sum rush hour anytime. It's so lively. I love it. We can get a tad bit overboard though when it comes to picking dishes, but I can't help it! Dim sum is so good!!! Don't get intimidated by the ALL ASIAN area, you other folk are easily catered to as well. As long as you got the $$$ go and have a great time. I totally recommend this place to anyone.

I wanted dim sum for a Sunday lunch. I went here it and was everything I ever dreamed of. Food was excellent, decently priced. Great atmosphere, crowded and noisy with tons of families chowing down after Church or whatever. Go here, it's what you're looking for.

I go there for brunch all the time on weekends. Lots of choice and very large place. The palce is clean and open. Staff is a tad unfriendly and place is a bit noisy for sunday mornings, but we go because it's a family tradition.

I have know so many Chinese Restaurants in the bay area but Dynasty Restaurant is the best in town. It is on the 2nd floor of the Grand-Century Mall. The size of this place is big. It has around 40-50 tables. This is a fancy restaurant which is suitable for weddings, birthdays, parties and more. This restaurant has an interesting view where you can see people walking and the cars running on the street. They have many different selection of foods, drinks and dessert on the menu. They have all kinds of my favorite seafood like shrimp with cashew nuts, shrimp with snow peas, shrimp with garlic sauce; shrimp in chili sauce and shrimp-balls is the best than other restaurants. Shrimp-balls are the best to eat while you waiting for the meals to come. To make it, the chef mix all ingredients in bowl and form it into ball. You eat it with either spicy, sweet sauces that comes with you order. This restaurant is a bit pricey but it worth it.

well my family comes here when we're too lazy to drive for dim sum. went here on sunday after church. their dim sum is iite, nothing real special about it, but the service was pretty ehh. i think its because we were filipino or something LOL!!! naw jk about that, but the lady with the siu mai cart never came by. they had the cart with the pork buns practically circling us. overall its iite i guess, the price is average for dim sim, i guess itd be ok if ur too lazy to go to a better dim sum place. so just 3 stars.

A bit over price and over rated....food is okay....not that special... like any other Chinese restaurant, dim sum or family event....i have to give them an extra star for conveniences since it;s locate in a plaza that their marketed customers....=)

Like the last person stated, this is the default location for Dim Sum. I'm not a big fan of their dinner and have been to one wedding and I think the food was okay. I had to choose this restaurant for my reception because it's one of the only restaurants in San Jose that can hold 600 people (although I think I'm only having 450-500). At least it's clean and once decorated looks pretty good.

I'm NEVER going back there again! After hearing decent reviews on the restaurant, LK and I decided to give it a try today. We sat down, ordered the usuals... har gow, siu mai, etc. The siu mai came with an extra side of cockroach! Yes, there was a steamed cockroach inside the bamboo steamer, stuck on the siu mai! I pointed this out to the manager, and the best he could do was take it away, and offer us no charge on the tea, which usually costs $1/person. WTF?

I've only been here for dim sum on weekends. The selection and quality is pretty good. The place is huge so getting a seat is usually not a problem. But because of the size, sometimes we don't get the stuff we want (they run out before it gets to us). And I don't like having to pay for tea. What's up with that? And parking can get tough in this strip mall. But I'm willing to overlook it all because this is one of the better dim sum places in the South Bay.

    (4)
  • Mark D.

Get your dim-sum on at this place! We went a little late for dim sum (around 1:30p and they stop serving at 2:30) which was pretty good because there was no wait. Carts came by quick, the dim-sum ladies didn't give me an evil eye when they realized I didn't speak Chinese, and service (water, tea) was prompt.

  • Deane and Natasha S.

We were not too impressed with the food here. The atmosphere was fairly impressive and the staff appeared concentrated on their job. The food on the other hand was very expensive (for what you get) and it wasn't much to write about. Not worth the money and almost not worthy of a review. All visual and no substance.

AN AWESOME RESTAURANT!!! i go there whenever i visit my grandpa.the restaurant IS HUGE!! theres also a mall next to it and a few shops downstairs. the plates are kinda expensive, but its pretty good stuff. i went in there the other day and we told them to take out the green onions. they forgot, but they gave us a complementary "snack plate" with cookies and little round sesame balls. SUCH GREAT SERVICE!! the location can sometimes be a pain( story rd has ALOT of traffic sometimes and parking can be difficult.

They have another location in Cupertino but my husband and I love this one more. Their dim sum is delicious most of the time. Once a while the food we get is not warm enough. Service is so so but acceptable. We like this eldly waitress (over 65 I think) who serves soups a lot. She smiles all the time and very friendly... I give them 4 stars because not so many dim sum restaurants in bay area keep us visiting.

I went on a Saturday afternoon and was surprised by the dim sum style. We were seated and servers began coming around offering whatever their cart supplied. We kept asking "We have never been here before, how does this work?" The usual response to this was "Tea?". Ahhhh, no thanks. After asking for something with chicken and again having more tea offered, I realized no one spoke English. We were then given some pork rice wrap and when I tried to explain that we did not eat pork, the waitress just walked away. Someone did come by with some chicken feet, YIKES. Really, chicken feet? I love new and different experiences, but this was a mess. We did get some great laughs out of this. Maybe the menu is great, but the service and dim sum was not.

This place is not that good for the prices they charge. I had the Lobster. It was bad. Red Lobster is much better than this. I would not go there again.

  • JeFF T.

Not bad for SJ dim sum. It's almost on par with Mayflower, a step above ABC...both South Bay staples. Nothing really stood out, food-wise. It's your typical Cantonese selection of dim sum. The wait staff were fairly on their toes and accommodating. Get here early to avoid the crowds on the weekend morning.

    (4)
  • Kalvin C.

All the reviews about the restaurant being HUGE are correct, this place is indeed HUGE! it serves Cantonese Style Chinese food, but i doubt many would care. The Prices are a little on the higher end of chinese restaurants. The reason for the four instead of five stars is because of the location, it is in a small mall and that means there is going to be trouble finding parking at times. Other than that, its pretty good.

    (4)
  • Kimberly L.

This place is good if you don't like to wait. Their restaurant is so big, so there is never a wait when I go there. Their dim sim is not as good as Pan Tao, taste wise, but good enough since there is no wait. The downfall about the place is that we usually have to wait a while for the food to come out since they usually only have a few carts going of the same items. Also Dynasty is pricier than Pan Tao. So if you don't mind waiting, I suggest you go to Pan Tao. So worth the wait.

    (3)
  • Terry S.

I also believe this place is inconsistent. Only good for the dim sum... sometimes. Got aluminum shavings in my har gow once. I guess they're more concerned with getting times out fast rather than getting them out when they're right.

It's generally very good but it was horrible this weekend. I felt like the Dim Sum were leftovers from previous day, it was cold and unappetizing. My Father-In-Law mentioned the same thing.

Came here for dim sum with my boyfriend . The dim sum here is pretty decent . The shrimp dumpling ( ha gow ) , shrimp and chives dumpling ( gow choi gau ) , and pork dumplings ( shui mai ) were all pretty decent . My boyfriend got me to try the deep fried shrimp meat wrapped around a sugarcane stick which was pretty good , suprisingly . It went really well with the sauce it came with . The egg custard tart ( dan tat ) were my favorite !! The custard was really creamy and the outside was not too flaky , thin , or thick . The egg custard tarts were mini-sized which makes it perfect for popping into your mouth . The shanghai dumplings were ehh .. weren't flavorful enough and didn't seem to have much soup in them . The soy sauce chow mein was too dry .. I didn't like it . The mango pudding was too soft and not firm enough . I like the stairway that leads up to the restaurant . When I'm walking down the stairway to exit the restaurant , I feel like a princess =]

This place is good for dimsum but I rarely go here because I'm too lazy to drive that far. I used to think that this place was pricey but I never really paid for the bill anyway; however my friends told me that they were able to stuff themselves for only 7 dollars a person! No way, that's a really good price I would say, but they probably don't eat as much as I do, everytime I go eat I have to pay AT LEAST 10 dollars. The last time I came here with my family, as crowded as it looked, we were seated and served quite quickly! I was so surprised at the quick service (on a summer weekend too!) The dimsum was awesome like always. mmm oh man I love dimsum, the staff is great and fast, my only complaint is that I think they put too much MSG in their food. Everytime I go to Dynasty, I end up drinking cups and cups of water one after the other. Then after I come home from Dynasty I proceed to drink MORE cups of water, haha. But it's a good place to eat dimsum, check it out :]

  • natassia s.

i'm a fan of the whole dim sum setup where carts of food pass you by and all you need to do is point. the only problem is that Dynasty is so big that the carts you're specifically looking for are nowhere to be found. they roam around each table and it feels like 30 minutes to complete their rounds and reach your table. the servers need to learn how sync their routes! as for the food, many items come fresh from the kitchen, some are already cold, and others are overcooked and mushy.

The first thing that I noticed entering the place was the decor. Unfortunately it seems to be strange in contrast to the waitstaff being so dressed up. The two dishes that I sampled were just fine, but I feel not a very good value based on their price. The atmosphere of banquet style dining also makes the prices seem to be out of line with the experience.

This is a huge restaurant, and is great for banquets. There is a private room available also. I've only been there for dim sum, which is one of the best in the area. They have various dishes, and they are always fresh!

In comparison to ABC and Mayflower (both locations in Milpitas), Dynasty has the best service and freshest dimsum in the South Bay. The waiters quickly took our plates when they were dirty and replaced them with clean ones. The food was always warm and appetizing!

dynasty ripped us off with our to-go order. we picked out an 8lb. lobster yesterday to have them sautee it with ginger. we paid big bucks for the lobster! when we got home we lifted the foil from the tray and noticed that the contents did not looked 8lbs. we weighted the tray and it was only 4lbs. my sister called the restaurant to complain and the manager said that the lobster had water in it when we first picked it out and lost some of its weight after cooking. c'mon that's b/s! it lost 1/2 of its weight from cooking? if anything, it should weigh about the same or more due to the sauce, big chunks of ginger and onions that were in the tray. we noticed that a lot of the middle part of the lobster was gone. bring a scale with you if you ever order lobster from this dynasty to make sure you get what you paid for.

  • Debbie D.

I have not returned to dynasty in years because of the bad service. managers who don't care about customers, and turn their backs and walk away as we speak to them. service is such an important factor when we dine, and theyre awful.

  • Liz A.

I went here for someone's birthday dinner when it first opened many years ago. I remember it had the worst service. We had to wait over and hour to order and be served, and I noticed that other people who walked in and sat down long after us were served first. I thought it was just because the restaurant was new and staff was inexperienced, but it really hasn't improved at all since then. And the dim sum isn't wonderful either because the people with the carts didn't come by too often. It's kind of hard to get through to the tables because it's all crowded and there are always people in the way. The waiters aren't exactly polite either.

This was my second time coming here and for the same type of event. I was here w/ Mar M. for her friends wedding reception. The place has 2 floors and we were on the 2nd floor. This place is gigantic. The wedding party had about 400 in attendance so you can picture how huge this place is. So w/ that many people the service of the staff was still very fast and efficient. Those guys work like a well oiled machine....actually a lil too oiled...they are on such a strict schedule that sometimes they are quick to clear serving plates off the table even if you are not done w/ it. Its no biggie tho you just tell them you aren't done and they leave it there for you. So now on to the food. it was pretty delicious. We had a cold appetizer plate w/ beef, jellyfish, seaweed salad and some other things, shark fin soup, lobster, abalone, walnut shrimp, squab, and scallops. All the food was made perfectly w/ the right amount of flavor. The vegetables that came w/ some of the dishes were cooked to a crisp and burs ted w/ flavor. All in all good experience.

decent cantonese food and dim sum. not as good as joy luck though... i went to a wedding at the valco location and the banquet meal was pretty darn good.

  • Foodie B.

This place has really gone down hill since the first time I visited. It has a large dining area which attracted the wedding parties. They even had the best suckling pig, however, they stopped serving it for dim sum. That's odd because the suckling pig was their specialty. Then their dim sum starting dropping a lot in quality. I used to rate this place with Joy Luck, and Mayflower as the three best dim sum places in the South Bay. I am not sure anymore. Kind of have a feeling they will sell and concentrate on the Cupertino Vallco location unless they put up a better fight.

this place is located in the Grand Century Mall plaza. the mall itself is pretty busy. parking is always full on weekends. i met up with some friends for lunch. the restaurant is huge - feels like you are in Hong Kong. the dim sum was good and affordable. don't expect your waiter to frequent your table. they'll only come over if you have empty dim sum plates and take it away. you have to call them out or raise your hand. that's how you get their attention.

i recently attended a wedding here, it seemed all fine until i seen a baby cockroach on the cake table, a huge one in the women bathroom, one big one crawled onto my arm, another on the stairs, and a bunch of dead ones on the floor. the food wasnt incredibly great, but it wasnt horribly nasty. they tried to over charge us, got into our faces and started yelling, saying they dont know nothing. super bad customer service. i wouldnt want to go back. the chairs look like they never cleaned it. this is the worst resturant i been to. they made us bring our own drinks and beverages.

Hmmm...what can I say, I've eaten here twice for the first time in the last two weeks. We are considering having our wedding reception here scince I am half chinese( according to my dad), but I had a different experience the two times I went. The first time, my mom and I were of course starving again after another long day of looking at reception/ceremony sites, and ordered the yang chow (sp.?) fried rice and won ton soup. Both were SO good. We even asked for extra broth for the soup. The waiter however was pretty indifferent to us when we inquired about banquet information...until he found out my mom was fluent in chinese, then he becaeme real friendly (and it wasn't a language barrier)because they continued their banter in english. The second time, my fiancee and I ordered the squab(pigeon) as explained to us by the waiter, and the pan fried chow mein with shredded chicken. Hmmm....needless to say, not so smart choices. A.)We got the squab because we wanted to try it out , scince it was on the banquet menu. Yuck. It was pretty on the plate, but I think it's one of those dishes you have to actually like. B.)The chow mein was pretty bland. Some shredded chicken, mushrooms and bean sprouts. I honestly think that we simply orded the "wrong" items. We didn't know what squab was, and we got the chicken chow mein instead of any other kind to ensure that Josh wouldn't drop dead of a shellfish allergy. Oh, and the service this time was probably one of the worst I've experienced even for a chinese place. There were only at best ,5 tables with people eating at them (including us) and 5 different waiters standing around. Even with that the service was extremely slow. We got served by all 5 of them, not knowing who ours was. I must say though, the dessert that comes with the meal is excellent. Cookies, and whatever else dessert they are serving that day. We are planning on going to the Cupertino location. Next time, we'll stick to what we know...honey walnut prawns, combination fried rice and chow mein, salt and pepper spare ribs, fried won tons....authentic chinese food eaters, we are not!

This is probably one of the top 3 places for dim sum in the South Bay. I have been to Dynasty Seafood Restaurant ever since they opened couple of years ago. Their dim sums have actually improved over time. Their services are above average comparing to other Chinese dim sum places throughout the Bay Area especially if you are comparing to restaurants in San Francisco. Like the others reviews, they are a solid performer as far as typical Hong Kong style dim sums like Hau Gau (Shrimp Dumplings) & Sim Mia (Pork Dumplings). They do have chicken feet if that's what you like but that's as exotics as it goes. If you really like more fancy and exotic dishes then you might want to try May Flower in Milpitas. But their prices are practically 20 to 30% higher even for regular dim sums as mentioned above and their weekend waiting time is from 30 to 60 minutes at lunch hour. I can't really rate May Flower since I have not been there for year or two and I know the previous manager there so it may not be an unbiased review.

the dim sum here is somewhat on point but good thing is it is very consistence. their tripe with green onion and ginger is cooked perfectly. the ha gow is not my favorite because it lacks water-chestnuts and bamboo shoots which gives the ha gow or shrimp dumpling their distintive flavor and texture. the siu mai or pork dumpling is good you can really taste the mushroom its the same filling for the xoi or lotus wrap sweet rice I believe. the clam with black bean sauce is on point perfectly seasoned and very fresh clams. the dim sum roast duck and roast suckling pig is very good and some what expensive 18 buck or 6-7oz of roast suckling pig. but very tasty . their fried taro and steam pork ribs is done nicely I eat dum sum here about 3 times a month and 1 time elsewhere to see if i can find a better place. I only wish chef ming was still in business because their chefs made the best dim sum and chili dip. the chili sauce it is equally as important as the dim sum itself.

Dim Sum wise, really good. Everything was prepared emmaculately. No grittiness from shrimps, and steamed perfectly. Unfortunately when we got there it was pretty full so we were seated near the kitchen. Some of those ladies went up one aisle and headed strait back to the banquet area. We had to flag down one of the guys to get some things off her cart. This happened twice by two different women. The price was reasonable, and we were both full. Fight for a good spot though, because you might end up having to wait forever to actually get some siu mai.

I used to come here a lot for dim sum until I moved. The dim sum here is pretty good, but nothing spectacular. I usually come for dinner if I'm in the area. This restaurant is Cantonese style Chinese food. Some dishes that stand out in my mind are: Seafood Lettuce Wraps, Veggies w Tofu and Bamboo Pith, Dried Scallops and Chives Soup, and Seafood Deluxe Soup. All of these are pretty good. The dishes are on the expensive side and I've noticed that the food has gone downhill in the past year or so. It used to be a 4, but it's more of a 3-3.5 now.

I agree with many of the reviewers that this place is very, very ok. I've never been disappointed in the food but nothing has ever knocked my socks off. The service is very good, the dining room is spacious and we have never had to wait - I've only ever been there with at least 10 people. One key bonus is that afterwards you can go the the Vietnamese mall next door and buy nifty things and have bubble tea or durian milkshakes.

DO NOT have your wedding reception here. They charge you for everything from $10 cork fee, cake cutting fee, dance floor fee, etc. Your reception has to end by 11pm or they charge you an extra $500 for an additional hour. Crazy shit like that makes this place the worst place to have a wedding reception. They also stole some of our money by taxing the gratuity. I had my sister take care of the bill during the reception and she didn't catch that right away. The service is mediocre and the food is not that tasty, except for the sea bass. Go somewhere else to have your wedding reception.

We've come here many times, but never at 2pm. The said they served dim sum until 3pm. Big mistake! They we're shuffling tables around for parties later and the dim sum was meager. Go early for a better experience. Or try somewhere else.

Came here for a weekday late lunch and the decor is about the only thing that stands out in my mind about this place. The dim sum is mediocre with nothing that stick out of my mind. However, the price was very cheap. An o.k place to come to get some inexpensive dim sum.

Dynasty Seafood is one of our favorite restaurants for Chinese food, especially for dim sum. We went last Saturday for lunch. The carts came by immediately, and we had shrimp dumplings, pork dumplings, fried taro balls, char siu buns, steamed chinese broccoli, and black bean pork ribs. Their dinners are great also. They have fresh seafood directly from their fish tanks, expertly cooked rock cod, lobster, and crab. Their baked sea bass is the best. We like their guy lon, ma po tofu, gin mein, Peking spareribs, and salt baked prawns. Their service is very good. They are pricier than most Chinese places but well worth it. We like it for special occasions.

Serves ILLEGAL shark fin soup--please do not eat here. I attended a wedding reception here and was served shark fin soup (no one at my table knew what it was at the time, but after consulting the restaurant's website I was horrified to realize what we were served). Shark finning is a huge environmental catastrophe and is illegal in the State of California. Please, please do not support this establishment.

Still a great choice for Dim-Sum. I've been here several times during the past few weeks for lunch on the weekends to satisfy my insatiable cravings! See my favorites in my previous review. I've also been ordering the fried taro dish and the sticky rice. For the people compaining about service: Seriously? You cannot expect great customer service from a place like this... Chinese/Vietnamese restaurants like Dynasty are ALL about getting you your food quickly, and NOT about making you feel welcome nor grateful for your business. It's not personal; they're just trying to move as quickly as possible! If you don't like how they treat you, go elsewhere - where you'll pay and arm and a leg for similar quality food and a "genuine" smile..

If you've tried really good dimsum then you would agree that Dynasty is just average. Nothing particularly good or bad about it. I would say that everything here is OK but still enjoyable. To be honest, nothing stood out to me hence the fact that I can't even remember how my food tasted like. If you're trying to impress family members then I wouldn't go here. But for a quick meal with friends, I would recommend. Service is excellent in my opinion. I got constant refills on water and tea, dishes were quickly cleared off our tables, and there was a consistent flow of carts going around.

Two and a half stars. Came here with a mix of dim sum novices and veterans, and found a reasonably short wait for an eight top that morning. Service was adequate, and variety reasonable. Sesame balls weren't too greasy. Chicken feet had a lot of fermented black bean mixed in. BBQ pork buns were okay, some minced onion in the filling and the dough-to-meat ratio was higher than average. Dumplings were a little oversteamed, and the sauce with the rice rolls was a bit too sweet. Overall I wasn't satisfied enough to return.

Bad service and equally bad food. Oily egg roll with oil oozing out of it. When pointed it out, response was you don't want it. No apology or even an attempt to get another one which is not oily. The hot and sour soup that came with the lunch special was very salty. The main dish protein was fine but the vegetables in the black bean sauce weren't even cooked soft. The black bean sauce did not infuse the food. Would not return to this establishment for sure. I should really give them a single star.

I'd been here twice. First experience were okay. Food actually passed by us and I get to eat. Second visit, pretty busy. I particularly hate the lady who gave us the table. I saw some open tables near the entrance but showed us the one near the small kitchen where they stack their plates. Minus one star. The nasty foods that no one wants like the nasty chicken feet, pig blood? that was cut in to cubes and weird looking wilted greens came to our table. LOL minus 1. I lost my appetite after that minus 1. We waited for the dumplings to go around, that person just likes to go around the crowded table. Minus 100 stars. I was fucking hungry minus 100000000000000000 stars. We decided to leave. We heard one of the manager swear at us because we didn't order anything. Well SCREW YOU TOO FOR MAKING ME HUNGRY. You think I can't understand Vietnamese? I can't but I can tell when a Vietnamese swears. So in conclusion, NO to bad service and rude manager. Asian restaurants are so bad at customer service it just makes me so damn sad. I need to buy a puppy now.

We eat here all the time with family and friends, gone to I don't know how many weddings here, I don't think an Asian person have not been here. Food is just good. Not bad nor the best Chinese restaurant. My family actually knows the owner cause we dine here alot but me personally, I don't care much for it. I think it's way overpriced for dim sum and dinner, but since I never pay then whateves.... But if I had to pay, I'd rather drive to Fu Lam Mum: good service, better prices and much better Chinese food than here!

NEVER EVER HAVE YOUR WEDDING RECEPTION HERE, NOT UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR GUESTS TO GET FOOD POISONING. Not even worth one star. One of the most frustrating experience I have ever dealt with. I just recently had my wedding here and everything went smashing until I found out that over 50+ guests of mine got food poisoning. I wanted to settle this behind closed doors because of how they treated my husband and I when preparing for the wedding. So right after the wedding, everyone started getting sick. At first, my family thought it was just something else they ate, but then slowly everyone (friends, family, coworkers) would let me know that they were sick. Either by phone call, texts, facebook posts, etc. The numbers started climbing, slowly from 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and that's not even reaching out to the rest of the guests (200+ addtional). I contacted the restaurant right away and they tried to pin it on the beverages I brought in and the cake. 1. I bought 30 drinks for the kids - there are over 50+ cases. 2. it's not the cake, cause I still ate the cake days after. My husband and I didn't get sick because we had the restaurant prepare a separate plate of food, which consisted of only walnut prawns and fried rice. Then they would shuffle me back and forth. Finally, I had a meeting with, Yennie. My friends and family told me to ask for the entire cost of the wedding back. They essentially RUINED the wedding outcome. Rather than think that the wedding was a great time, it'll be the time when my guests got food poisoning. I decided to be nice since the preparation was easy and James and Vincent (banquet managers) were helpful. So I told them I wanted only half back. Yennie gave me the guilt trip of, "Oh well, we already gave the workers their tip and we shouldn't penalize them for that." So in conversation, she said, we're sorry, please work with us. She asked if giving me the cost of 10 tables be enough, which equates to a little over 5k. I asked for a straight 6k. She then said she needs to go back to her boss to ask. Then took two days to let me know that he wanted doctor notes and refused to give my husband and I any compensation after they admitted fault. Saying sorry means you're ADMITTING FAULT!! The fact that you were open to giving me the cost of 10 tables means you're admitting fault. Quick update: Dynasty's response to be BBB. There has not been hostility from me to uninvolved staff members. Everyone should keep in mind that if they have their wedding here, you will be getting the same type of service/compensation below, which is an offer to eat there again (why would I want to eat there again when you gave my guests food poisoning in the first place?). I have valid reasoning for all of their comments below and since I am not able to sue on behalf of everyone that got sick, I cannot take it any further. BEWARE. It is not worth the tarnished memory. I would rather pay the extra money to have it elsewhere to guarantee that my guests do not get sick. To whom it may concern: The purpose of this letter is to confirm Dynasty Chinese Cuisine's position in regards to the false accusations of Mrs. Kathy Nguyen, case #333791. To summarize, the customer filed a complaint to the County's Health Department and an inspector was sent to inspect the facility and found no evidence of sanitary or food preparation problems. Dynasty Chinese Cuisine will bear no responsibility nor will we be offering any type of generous offerings as a token of our kindness in preserving good relations with this customer. The customer was not able to provide ANY evidence of the food poisoning such as doctor's diagnoses or drug prescriptions for any individual, let alone 200 guests. Nevertheless, we do sympathize for banquet guests who didn't feel well after a night in celebration of a beautiful wedding. Customer care is always one of our priorities. Previously, we had extended our generosity to those who didn't experience a pleasant time at the wedding banquet by offering complimentary lunch or dinner. However, the customer refused. We are reputable restaurant abiding all rules and regulation with no difficulty and obtained clean slate for over 14 years. It is very unfortunate that things have led to this point but we have tried our best to comfort them. Moreover, we do not appreciate Mrs. Kathy Nguyen's continuous hostility towards other uninvolved staff members. This causes great discomfort among the uninvolved staff members as she chooses to conduct herself in a very unprofessional manner. It is evident that her false allegations were not supported and were inconsistent. Please feel free to contact the undersigned should you have any question. Sincerely yours, Dynasty Chinese Cuisine *And for the record, it's really hard to stay professional when you poisoned my guests.

This is the first review i have EVER wrote ever because I was so mad. we reserved the bottom room for a celebration. i left my cell phone on the table and so did my friend we were literally right there then we turn around and our cell phones were missing. When the food was being brought out. we told the people in charged and they said they were going to go look at the security tapes. one of my friends followed the security guard to go check. but that trip was USELESS because they supposedly "didn't have the password" to review the tapes. WTF? are you kidding me. It was the workers who took both my iphone and my friend's iphone for sure. How is it possible that two fucking iphones are missing. I should have called the police. if the owner sees this review keep your workers in check cause i'm seriously never coming back here.

I can't stand going here for dim sum! I keep forgetting about their terrible customer service and find myself back at this place again running into that problem again! Haha. Every time I go here I find myself having to flag down carts myself when I should be bombarded with them! Just because my table has empty dim sum trays doesn't mean I'm done, it means yeah you're taking so long that I finished what I had and I've been waiting forever to get another go around! This place frustrates me so much! Haha. I think I'm goign to stick to dim sum in my neck of the woods from now on. The drive to Grand Century Mall is just not worth my gas and time anymore.

I ate here like once back in the day with my dad and his old co-workers. Ate on the 2nd floor dressed all scrubbed out like I just did some lawn work or worked out, cause I didn't know people somewhat dress up at this restaurant. There was a wedding reception in one of the big rooms I remember. Not sure if it was upstairs or downstairs. I remember the food being a little above average, but nothing out of your mind outstanding or anything by that means. I think this is probably one of the biggest/largest seating Chinese restaurants I've ever been to.

I ordered a peking duck & chix feet to go, and when I got to work I was surprised when I found a full container of duck and perfectly arranged duck skin on top. Maybe a bit too perfect looking. No wonder, they cut all the pieces up....and basically used the duck skin to cover up the duck.....but the actual pieces underneath was all fat and bones with small amounts of meat. I think they use some of the meat for the other dishes, such as the noodle dish, or soup dish, etc. Real disappointing for 22 bux. Chicken feet was good, but it was a funky sickening orange color. It looked it was marinated in that orange powdered drink, Tang. I cringe at the thought of orange colored chicken feet. Dynasty, pretty please keep the feet their natural pretty brown color.

When I realized I was the only white guy in the restaurant that day, I figured the food was going to be good... and I was right! This was my first dim sum experience, and it did not disappoint. My native Chinese dining partner helped navigate the menu, keeping me away from the "scary stuff" as he put it. I couldn't tell you the name of one thing I had, but it was all delicious... and reasonably priced.

This is actually a pretty good chinese restaurant... My boss from the furniture store used to take us here all the time after work and he would end up spending up to $1000 there for a dinner of 8 of us. If you order lobster, they'll actually bring the lobster to your table to see if it is big enough for you. The only times I've been here, all I've eaten is seafood. I'm not sure about the rest of the items though, but the clam and fish are really good and they taste really fresh. The service is really good considering it's one of the nicer Chinese restaurants that is always hosting weddings.

My boyfriend and I came here specifically for dim sum. We went on a Sunday late morning (at around 1130am ISH) and were seated immediately. I liked where we were seated too, because it was in the middle corner so carts came along the back and the right of us. The service wasnt s0o bad. They took our empty plates quickly and we got all the dim sum choices we wanted.. but they didnt really refill our water as often. The only bad thing I have to say is trying to get our check, which took like 5-10 mins to get someone there to request our check (not too bad). But to get our check back with the boyfriend's credit card so he could sign, that took like 15-20 mins. The waiter that got our check for us initially came over again, and when we told him that we didnt get our receipt or card back.. he immediately went there and got it for us, which was VERY nice. They make the best hot and sour soup I've had in the bay area too! Other than that, this is one of the better dim sum places I've been to =]

The dim sum isn't bad, but the selection isn't the most creative. You'll definitely get your fill of har gow, sui mai, and chicken feet, but nothing different. The HK chow mein is really good. Prices are moderate. So what made me give it five stars is my encounter with a lead waiter today. I didn't get his name, but he spoke Cantonese, around his 40's, and was short (good luck on figuring out who he is). My table was overcharged by one dish. This was something we caught before our empty dishes were taken away. We notified one waiter and the next thing we knew, eight people surrounded our table trying to figure out the extra mystery dish. We thought "Oh boy, this is going to be a fight to get corrected." After much discussion, this lead waiter found the dim sum lady who marked the extra dish and he asked, in a very gentle manner, if she did it. She said she may have marked an extra dish in error and he politely asked her to be careful next time. Both persons repeatedly apologized for the error. The lead waiter corrected the bill and even brought us two dim sum dishes free of charge. We told him that wasn't necessary for him to do that and we were only happy for a correction, but he insisted. Great customer service from this one employee.

Good dim sum! I love to go there on the weekend for dim sum; but the line is all always long so if you go, go EARLY! The Peking duck is pretty good and the sauce is very tasteful. The waiters are always around but sometime can be rude and useless. However when it comes to getting the check they can always get their job done! Anyway, the place is pretty big and food is pretty good. Overall, its clean, nice, taste good, and have somewhat of a good help!

I've been here for my girlfriends wedding. Their food is OK. But what I keep coming back for is the peking duck. I found that compared to most places the quality and the prices was best here.
